  • This video gives a high-level introduction to the Toyota Production System (TPS). It discusses 'Lean' and its origins in the Toyota Production System, which was developed over 30 years by Taiichi Ohno and his colleagues. The system emphasizes on operational stability, just-in-time and jidoka, and focus on continuous improvement or kaizen. The system was found to be effective and efficient not only in Japan but also in Toyota's transplants and joint venture factories in the West. The concept of 'Lean' was first labeled in the 1988 MIT Sloan Management Review article by John Krafcik.
