She was born and raised in Texas, she had mexican-american roots. Most of her discography is in spanish. She was shot in the back by a crazy woman who was her fan club president and personal assistant. This concert was on feb 26 1995, she was killed on march 31 1995. She was 23 years old. There is a 1997 movie of her life and JLo played as Selena. Please react to other songs of the same concert.
This concert is basically her final on camera performance and final moments before getting murdered a month later.. really adds to the experience and tragedy when you let that fact sink in... may she rest in peace. Truely one amazing performer!
She was the most normal human being that you can think of that just happened to be famous. Fame never got to her head. She was genuine as they come. Some people are born to artists and others are born to be legends. She was born to be a legend and an example of what a true artist should be.

She was murdered a month after this concert where she set an attendance record with well over 60k people in attendance. She was 23 years old and an absolute queen in every way possible....nobody was perfect but she came dam close her life story largely resembles that of Michael Jackson musical damily managed by the patriarch of the family
Besides her natural beauty, charisma, smile, talent in dancing, and vocals her best attribute was her humility and the love she had for her fans. She broke barriers for future Latin artists that have done crossovers. She will always be loved.

Thank you. Selena's life was cut short, and unfortunately, I did not really appreciate her talent and music until after her death. If you ever get the chance watch the movie about her life titled "Selena." I love her studio recorded song "I could fall in Love."
It's funny you mention Gloria Estefan you know. At the time of Selena's death, she was in the middle of working on her crossover album and producers were calling her the next Gloria Estefan, sadly her life was taken away and she couldn't finish recording the album, altough it was released after her death with the songs she recorded in english, the album topped the Billboard 200! She was going the first latina doing a big crossover in many years since Gloria did it. Few years after that, Shakira did crossover and became huge worldwide with Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan by her side as the producer.
yay finally some selena!! some facts for you, she was mexican-american and was born and raised in texas. although most of her music was in spanish, english was actually her first language and she didn't start speaking spanish till she was a little older. she was killed a little over a month after this concert by the president of her fan club. it happened two weeks before her 24th birthday and 2 days before her 3rd wedding anniversary (she was married to her guitarist). and yes there is a movie about her with Jennifer lopez which you should definitely check out. please react to more of her!

Everything you described about her is the truth, she performed from a very young age, she was Mexican American & I believe from Native American (Cherokee) roots from her moms side. There is so much music from Selena for you to discover I am exited for you!

She died 21 days after this concert . She was shot by someone on her team
This was her last televised concert in Feb of '95. Her third one I think. She performed at a few other venues before she passed. This concert was in Feb '95 at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. Selena y los Dinos was essentially a Mexican American family band. Her husband Chris played guitar (he's the one right behind SELENA to her right. Her brother AB on base guitar and het sister Suzette on drums (Suzette didn't play at this concert bc she had sprained her ankle). SELENA'S Dad Abraham was the manager of the band. They come from humble beginnings. He was also in a band in his younger years. Her Mom Marcella travelled with them on the road. SELENA was her baby. SELENA was working on her crossover English Album when she was murdered by her fan club and boutique manager Yolanda Salivar. YS had been caught embezzling funds from SELENA'S fan club and other businesses. SELENA went to meet YS at a Days INN motel to get back her financial papers but an argument ensued and YS shot SELENA in the back. SELENA escaped to the front desk of the motel where she collapsed and went into a coma later dying at a hospital. YS is still incarcerated at s women's prison in Texas. Anyway, please check out more of SELENA Y LOS DINOS music. Her crossover album ''Dreaming of you' is pretty cool. 'Dreaming of you' and 'I can fall in love' are great songs. This album came out about 4 months after SELENA passed away so she didn't get to complete it nor see its debut. Be sure to check out the 'Selena' movie starring JLO. The movie came out in '97 catapulting JLO to fame. SELENA died on March 31st of '95. Her husband Chris Perez is a Rocker who has his own music and has dedicated music to SELENA. Maybe you can check out 'Best I can' sometime soon. Chris also has written a book about their life together called 'To Selena with love'. It's a great love story. Hope you get to read it sometime soon.
