The Plexiglas absorbs water vapor on the inside of the top. This causes the inside to grow, while the outside remains the same. This uneven growth causes the top to warp. There are other plastics, including poly carbonate that do not absorb water vapor. Cheers, Chris
Soooo glad you decided to put 1 male betta in the tank instead of trying to do a betta sorority in that tank 🥰 welcome Kevin! He’s adorable. Giants are one of my favorites. Congrats on your new fish 💛
I like this channel mainly because you care about the fish as much as you do the scapes you make, a LOT of channels focus mainly on the scapes and don't care about the fish a whole lot, really good job my friend
That’s a beautiful betta and set up. I have a half moon yellow mustard betta. Or gas mustard or bumblebee betta. I love the yellow and black coloration.
Mike, Can you make a plant video on the Red Root Floater it’s one of my favorites but is kind of hard to get them dark red roots and flowers. It would be greatly appreciated. It looks good in the tank with the betta btw.
Kevin is a great fit for that gorgeous tank! He looks healthy and happy, and so do the plants. The rotala looks like the ludwigia repens in my bedside 7.5 gallon; great growth too, but lacking the distinctive red since I don't dose iron (nor will I ever go CO2). But the textures of the various leaf shapes still provide variety; though wish I could find some red root floaters too! SOOO glad you decided against a sorority in that tank; chances are high that would have been a disaster. For a sorority to be successful, even in the short term (long-term success is a rare achievement), you need a minimum 20 gallon long (densely planted). The 30 gallon you are looking at will be great, but while I'm fairly certain you'll do a fantastic job scaping it densely enough with plants to give them plenty of hiding spots, I am concerned that 20 bettas will be significant overstocking. Even without outright fighting, sorority girls have much shorter lifespans due to stress, and that stocking level won't give each betta girl much of a territory. Plus if/when things go wrong, you'll have to have many more spare tanks for chill outs/healing. [Sorry if I come off know-it-all, but after extensive research, planning, and acquisition over 6-8 months, I put a hold on my own sorority because the risks and workload are so high.]
LID RECOMMENDATION! I'd strongly recommend getting Lexan (polycarbinate) from Home Depot, it does not warp like acrylic, all my tanks (except ripariums) have it and my oldest Lexan lid is over 5 years now and the warp is less than 1/8" at the corners (this is with a hot bulb placed right on the lid and water line very high). Can be hand cut like acrylic or with a saw (recommend high tooth count). Lexan does not shatter/chip when using a saw, unlike acrylic.
Because of your Sheriff video I’ve since ordered 4 different male bettas from Space City and all 4 have been amazing and their customer service is awesome! Thank you for sharing 😁
Happy Holidays Kevin! I love seeing your new giant betta! He is a beauty! I purchased two of my beautiful male bettas from their site. They were not giants but medium size!
Big Bettas are the Bomb and your new boi Kevin is rockin. Funny thing is that I bought one myself a couple of days ago from SpaceCity, his name is Hellier in honor of Planet Weirds paranormal series. Now I'm thinking I need another one now that you got a discount code for us AquaPro's. Who am I fooling, think my ass, I gotta get another Big Bopper Betta Fish. Thanks, a lot Mike for triggering my collectoritis,it doesn't take much.LOL
Instead of a sorority get a harem. One male with 2 or 3 females. Make sure you have about a 150 litre /40ish gallon tank. Make sure to have some hiding spots. Done it before and found it very exiting
i got my darling baby marble hmpk from the same seller!!!! im very very happy with my experience with them, i'm glad you could get one of their big boys!!!
Hey Mike! What lights do you use for your tanks? I have a low tech 40b and 20g co2 tank. I’m currently running finnex planted+ 24/7 HLC leds but idk it seems like the growth is slow in my low tech and I can’t carpet plants in the 20g.
82 is a bit warm for bettas they are tropical but it speeds up their life span because their metabolism is faster and ime (been keeping bettas since 2011) they thrive around 74-76 I kept my tank at 82 for a long time and they never lived as long as when the temp was a few degrees lower. I keep it at 75 now
Hi was wondering your giant betta? How often do you feed him and how much do you feed? Also what size it is his tank because he's so big? did you buy him from a breeder and if so was it overseas and can I have access to the breeder you purchased him from?
ty for your video! quick question:I ve been trying to build a similar tank but i am having trouble finding these babay tears. is it Hemianthus Micranthemoides?
AQUAPROS i’m considering setting up a whole new aquarium to add to the one i have right now.. i have to move them back and forth from college (for every long break 😫) and i’m worried it may be a bit much to set up a second tank. your videos really inspire me though and i’ve learned so much! hopefully i can upgrade to a big aquarium like yours soon!!
Hate to tell you, but that lid is not betta safe. Lol. Betta’s can squeeze through the smallest of spaces and yours most certainly can get through those spaces especially with the lid warping. Trust me, I had one jump through a much, much smaller hole, from the corner. All my lids cover the entire top of my tanks if not overlapping a bit. Remember some like to rest on the surface and you have some nice driftwood at the top that could be tempting. He’s a beautiful fish. I would secure his tank a bit better. :)
Not necessarily. I keep my half moon betta with around 20 cherry shrimp, they get along just fine. It depends on the fish, the size of the tank and how heavily planted and scraped it is.
No they do get along. I have a tank full of cherry also with a regular betta. But if its a giant betta its a different story. He will hunt them. I saw it hunting the shrimps. I lost a good amount of cherrys as soon as i introduced the betta in the tank in 1 night. Lol
You may want to do It in parts where there aren't many plays in the area because of the waste beneath the gravel piling up but you don't need to do it for places with alot of plant life because the plants will get rooted (which is a hassle) and they will naturally eat the waste beneath them anyways Hope this helps!
I have an electric blue alien hybrid from the 2019 aquatic experience. He won 3rd prize!! In my black water tank and he is the size of Kevin. His name is Malachi.
My betta jumped out of the tank too (has lid) I don’t know how long she was laying on the floor I thought she was dead. Her fin super dry I was grabbing her about to burry her and she jumped, craziest experience ever
Without nutrients added to that tank, those plants are gonna starve. Filter is also wayy overkill for a tank with that many plants and one fish. But hey whatever floats your boat.
My experience with Space City Fish was totally different. I ordered a gorgeous betta fish that arrived DOA in the filthiest, dirtiest, smelliest water I ever saw. I felt so sorry for the poor fish who had to live in that disgusting water.
That’s a beautiful betta and set up. I have a half moon yellow mustard betta. Or gas mustard or bumblebee betta. I love the yellow and black coloration.

Mike: we got the lid, that's super important
Me: oh god sheriff jumped didnt he
🤔😭
Giant Bettas are the best! Everything about a betta just bigger and better 🙌🏻
Soooo glad you decided to put 1 male betta in the tank instead of trying to do a betta sorority in that tank 🥰 welcome Kevin! He’s adorable. Giants are one of my favorites. Congrats on your new fish 💛

Thanks so much 🤠🤠🤠
That aquarium is so gorgeous. Loving Kevin too. What a lucky fish.
I just got a new betta too. I named him Mike!
Kevin :-)
That's an amazing little set up for Kevin. I just love it
Love your giant SOOO much, he’s absolutely STUNNING 😭❤️😍😍🥰
Kevin and his luxury condo!!! Gave me all the lolz. Great video sir.
That’s a beautiful betta and set up. I have a half moon yellow mustard betta. Or gas mustard or bumblebee betta. I love the yellow and black coloration.
Oh my!! He is Gorgeous! Love him and the tank setup. WOW

He looks like my old betta bumble. I just lost him a week ago. I am so sad but also happy that you got a new fin baby.
Merry Christmas to the Auqa Pros

That betta looks dope🔥🔥🔥🔥
He's gorgeous. Nice choice. 👍🍄😎
Love it 😍 this is the sort of tank a betta deserves! Spoilt Kevin 😁
He's a big burly handsome man like Kevin Malone! ❤️
Yassssss I love it :)

Done it before and found it very exiting
Wow beautiful giant betta bumbs killed so much red root floaters didnt know they dont like condensation
Freak yeah kevin!! Kevin is the Best name EVER
i got my darling baby marble hmpk from the same seller!!!! im very very happy with my experience with them, i'm glad you could get one of their big boys!!!
I’m so glad you got a giant betta rather than a sorority. Kevin is beautiful!
Really cool Betta set up 🤓
Gorgeous Fish!
Dude your amazing!
I want to see you doing some breeding projects!
Nice set up

Kevin. Yay...💪
👍💕👍
He's beautiful 💝.
ty for your video! quick question:I ve been trying to build a similar tank but i am having trouble finding these babay tears. is it Hemianthus Micranthemoides?
Kevin is cool as h***! I wonder what they are cross bred with to get them bigger 🤔
They aren't really crossbred, just selection for bigger fish. Like how Great Danes are just... Big dogs.
Kevin ? Like Kevin McCallister ? Is that cause he has a home alone 😉😂. He is such a great looking dude 👍👍
How big is this tank?
What happened to Sheriff ?
Must of missed it.
Love your channel 👍
Wow
Yes it indeed,isa wow
I so totally agree
The lid probably is the reason that the floating plants are doing so well in this tank, but not the others.
I want to buy a male betta and some neon tetra’s for my 50L (15gallon) tank. But which one should I put In first?
could you try to make an aquaterrarium? I think it would be a great addition
Blurry Blue Scrimp Gang 👀🔵🍤 Where y'all @?
You're making me want a betta more and more...
Heheheh 🤠
AQUAPROS i’m considering setting up a whole new aquarium to add to the one i have right now.. i have to move them back and forth from college (for every long break 😫) and i’m worried it may be a bit much to set up a second tank. your videos really inspire me though and i’ve learned so much! hopefully i can upgrade to a big aquarium like yours soon!!
I have 3 tanks in my dorm room that i have to move back and forth! It’s a struggle but it’s definitely doable
Layney Lipscomb i have one and it already stresses me out 😂 i think i could do two though!!
Nice.
Kevin!!!
Hey, i love your videos man. I was wondering where do you get your rocks from?
I know this video is old. But I’m getting a giant betta soon. I have the tank cycled and ready. Ironically it looks exactly like the beta you lost ☹️
He looks like Adam Sandler

missytoe1975 make a lexan top
Just a heads up. If those shrimps are inside Kevin's tank.. he will have a buffet there.. learned that the hard way lol
Not necessarily. I keep my half moon betta with around 20 cherry shrimp, they get along just fine. It depends on the fish, the size of the tank and how heavily planted and scraped it is.

How much is a giant betta? I have a normal sized betta in my 10 gallon but after he dies I definitely want a giant one.
Kevin! Sorry after seeing the glitter trap 2.0 videos that’s all I can think of with that name
How much do you feed your giant betta?
Do you ever gravel vac your planted tanks ? Is it necessary ?
You may want to do It in parts where there aren't many plays in the area because of the waste beneath the gravel piling up but you don't need to do it for places with alot of plant life because the plants will get rooted (which is a hassle) and they will naturally eat the waste beneath them anyways

Do they guarantee their age? Maybe he is just very old
I have an electric blue alien hybrid from the 2019 aquatic experience. He won 3rd prize!! In my black water tank and he is the size of Kevin. His name is Malachi.
Not gonna be jumping out of the corners... One of mine jumped out of a 3cm gap in the corner of the tank 😭
At one point I had a 4+ inch betta
My betta jumped out of the tank too (has lid) I don’t know how long she was laying on the floor I thought she was dead. Her fin super dry I was grabbing her about to burry her and she jumped, craziest experience ever
How do you know if a betta is boen big or got fat? My fish looks larger by the day and is worried he is getting obese
Bay City or Space City Fish?
Does anyone know if you could breed a giant Male with a regular female beta?
What did happen to your previous betta Sherrif?
He insinuated that it jumped out of the tank.
Anyone who ordered from the fish site how were the conditions of the betta fish?
What kinda tanks do you use I really like them and I wont to get one haha
A lot of them are Waterbox, check the description for more info and a discount code
I don't know why but if i had to name that betta
I'd name it Danny Trejo xD
Whats the life span of a betta fish ?
Without nutrients added to that tank, those plants are gonna starve. Filter is also wayy overkill for a tank with that many plants and one fish. But hey whatever floats your boat.
Anyone know good overseas breeders that sell and ship koi/giant hmpk?
Thought that tank was meant to be a sorority tank
Kevin looks big next to those little man hands🤔😂.
Not going to lie Kevin is pretty thick 🐢
Size matters 🤣
Home tree from avatar ?
hes like a bulldog
What is it that makes them "giants"?
They have been specially bred for larger size, they will grow an inch or two larger than regular bettas.
Bruh that light is expensive
Where’s sheriff ????
Its insinuated that he jumped out of the tank and died
Ha first comment 😁
Do you want a medal or award or something? No one cares, dude.
Awwwwww 😢😢😭😭😪😪
I care Joey, 🙏🙏🤠
thye dont have many good options :/
I cringe every time you call them betas. But I watch in anticipation for the day that you finally correct yourself.
Me too!! Mike needs to look up the pronunciation.
My experience with Space City Fish was totally different. I ordered a gorgeous betta fish that arrived DOA in the filthiest, dirtiest, smelliest water I ever saw. I felt so sorry for the poor fish who had to live in that disgusting water.
It's a female Betta not a male
Well, the only huge thing seems to be the clickbait
He's not that big
Hes only 5 months old! 🤠
@@AQUAPROS you damn kids! back in muh day our bettas were called Chinese fighting fish and they could fight off a shark!
The betta has no quality , in my country this so cheap
Richard & Kevin both look like males.
kinda sad you got pressured out of doing the sorority, dont let the fish police keep you from doing things you know will work
That’s a beautiful betta and set up. I have a half moon yellow mustard betta. Or gas mustard or bumblebee betta. I love the yellow and black coloration.
