    Excellent video, mate. I have the back box to replace this weekend on my Jazz and it’s really the first thing I’ve ever done on a car. This video helped massively - great angles, well lit, straight to the point and easy to follow. I just hope my job goes as smoothly! 😄

      How did it go?

    • @SQUIZZLER24
      @SQUIZZLER24 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DylRicho Not too bad, thanks. One of the flange bolts was so rusted in place that I snapped it trying to get it loose, so I ended up drilling and tapping that hole, as well as putting a nut on the other side just to keep things tight, but the £25 back box I got from eBay fitted a treat. 😄

      @@SQUIZZLER24I’m in this exact position, my flange bolt is absolutely frozen solid, any tips? I got some penetrating oil but doesn’t want to free it up at all

    Thank you for making this video! I live in the U.S. and have a U.S.-spec 2007 Honda Fit (nee Jazz). Exact same exhaust problem... It's great to see the bolt and hanger details up close and in color before I crawl under the car, and especially before I order replacement parts. (Honda's simple black-and-white parts diagrams can often be very frustrating!) Thanks again!

    As a complete novice who wants to do this repair myself a little more focus on how the joints come apart and go together would be helpful ie the gaskets and springs and how they come apart/ go together would be really helpful! And specifying which order to do which joints in thanks 🙏

    It's easier to drop it from the manifold joint then take the cat and centre out as one and work on it off the car. Also the bolts were commonly welded into the cat centre flange due to falling out so either grind and drill or a replacement cat too.

    • @itftcomputers
      @itftcomputers 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, if you drop the CAT you need to replace it? I'm a bit confused by your comment...

    The Honda jazz I worked on had 13mm nuts on the Catalytic converter. Anyway, for anyone attempting this, I strongly recommend you take off the heat shield - the heat shield that's in you way when you tried to unbolt the Catalytic converter from the mid exhaust. Also, if you don't have a lift, unless you have a really good jack (ones that lift really high AND rest on jack stands), I wouldn't try this unless you have a good impact wrench.

  • @timothylmiles9334
    @timothylmiles9334 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here's a tip for getting stubborn rubber hangers off/on easier: remove as much rust as possible from the metal rods with a wire brush, then liberally apply dishwashing soap to the metal rods!

  • @degalzt8351
    @degalzt8351 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your video is so helpfull. Do we no need a flat gasket instead of that paste? I have to replace the wife's one with the same issue and the guy sold me a ring gasket ( for the catalytic and centred part join) and he didn't mention paste or flat gaskets at all.

    Same sound we came across today. But the Yellow engine malfunction light came on the dash board. Is this normal even if our problem could be just the exhaust.
    And how much again did the new exhaust cost with parts. Many Thanks

    Must be a common Jazz problem , there was a lady on the motorway hard shoulder, with a dropped exhaust.

      Not ideal hope she was alright in the end...Rubber hungers at the rear seems to perish quite often putting to much stress in middle part and dropping down to the tarmac... 👍

    Hello, I'm going to change my middle and back boxes, those 3 fixings on the catalyst, are they nut and bolts? Or just nuts and the bolts are welded on the catalyst? I have the full fitting kit, 2 nut and bolts with 2 springs and all new rubbers, anyway, did you have to use an impact wrench on the three bolts? I'm a grandad so don't do much car work these days unless the labour to get it done is cheap, a company quoted me £383 supply and fit, I purchased all the bits for £114

    • @oleskoolcabby5710
      @oleskoolcabby5710 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@technomad900it's fine, they were studs on the other side, I successfully fitted back and middle exhaust but used an impact wrench

    Great video - do you happen to have the part numbers for the fasteners, gaskets, springs, rubber hangers and if I missed anything else by any chance? I'm about to do the same job, I wish it was sunny over here though -) Exactly the same problem!!! Thanks a ton.

    • @CarsExposed

      I don’t have the parts number sorry but I bought everything from eurocarparts l, if you go to their website and type the plate number it should come up alright, and also they always have a discount code on their website front page .... really worth it looking into it good luck with the job 👍👍👍

      RockAuto not only has the Walker part numbers for each component, but they have kits containing all the parts at different price points. Cat. is available separately.

    @1:26 anyone know the size of the nuts, specifically the diameter .. Had to break mine off .. The thread on the stud is 1.25 but my die ( 10mm x 1.25) set wouldn't run over the stud.. Seems to be 10 or around that
