Banger of a video! Glad you asked about the instant payment in New York, I find it funny how companies like poshmark have it but a huge corporation like ebay doesn't.
I actually mentioned to Ebay that their system seems a little clunky, with as big as they are they should have top notch Tech people, or contract it to a top of the line company. It seems that older companies take longer to update and get with the times. With all the new competition in the past few years, maybe that will put a burr under their saddle. No time to be complacent!

I attended eBay open virtually between work. It was great! I learned a lot, primarily from other sellers. I was able to order some free swag because of my participation in the open so that was a bonus. I definitely snagged some of those big bags!

As always, even when traveling you find amazing flipping items! I “attended”virtually as I could not afford to fly to NYC for the in person sessions, but wishing we had the opportunity to get the swag, especially that EBay bag! I grew up near NYC enough to go most weekends lol. I don’t think they would care about filming. I don’t think anyone really cares what others do tbh haha. You could be laying in the middle of the store naked/yelling, and people would just walk over you. Just don’t block them from getting from A to B. You’re good ;) hope you had fun!!!

Hilarious that you were wearing that Descent jacket in the coffee/bagel shop. Great quality jacket from the late 70's early 80's, before North Face was a thing. Love the end update. I believe it was honest and gave me some hope, that eBay hasn't forgot it's base. which is sellers.

Griffith Observatory is such a cool place in LA. My oldest son lives there. My youngest son is in San Fran, & you guys should see all the thrift shops there! OMG!!! How fun!! I just love the picture booth pictures! We had one at our wedding and everyone loved it!! I had no idea people didn’t pay for their auction items!! I assumed you had to! Why take the time to do it for crying out loud.
People get caught up in the thrill of live bidding and then get buyers remorse when they realize what they agreed to pay. Or they discover they could have gotten the same item for cheaper elsewhere. Or they realize they don't have enough in their account. Or they are new to Ebay and went crazy on the bidding then ended up winning a bunch of the same item (happened to a friend of mine, but she did the right thing and paid for all of them).

0:14 I never realized the Statue of Liberty had pit stains. Looks like you had a blast in NY. I used to go frequently but I haven't been there in many years now. There's really no place like it, is there? If you ever find yourselves in NYC again, I'd recommend the High Line Park. It's a park built on a 1.5 mile stretch of abandoned elevated railroad track on the lower west side. It's really amazing. You can walk the length of the long, narrow park with great views of the city, and watch the traffic pass underneath you. It's something you'll never forget.
I loved they had representatives from every ebay department there. i would've love to talk to the one that handles returns and disputes about alot of the problems in that area.
You should go to Gilbert’s ice cream in pawley’s island South Carolina and get the new ( it might only be there for a little while) molasses cookie ice cream that my grandma met up with them to make because she makes the best cookies.

We took in two shows visited, Harlem, Art galleries and walked all over. We had a fantastic time. NY is so different from the Deep South which we have also visited. Have fun.
How awesome you guys got to go to New York! I'd have wanted to stay longer and go sightseeing 😉 If eBay would do what the online auction houses do it would alleviate many seller issues. If buyers had to register a credit card or debit card before bidding, sellers wouldn't have to chase them for payment. Once the auction ends the winner's card is charged and that's it. This is the biggest reason I avoid auctions...I don't want to chase people for payment so that would be huge. I also believe 30 days is too long for returns but that's me. A seller's reputation and feedback should be considered if eBay has to make some kind of decision and "take a side."
The challenge I can see with charging the buyer's credit card immediately is that, unlike many selling platforms, Ebay sellers can offer multiple shipping options, those shipping options are based on exact package dimensions and weight, and sellers have to manually calculate a combined shipping cost if a buyer buys more than one item. I know the buyer can select the shipping method at checkout, so if they can work through those other issues, they should be able to make automatic payments work.
@@rachelh5211 True though I personally refund buyers if they purchase multiple items I can ship together. I also have all my listings set to payment required immediately. I guess then they'd be relying on the seller to do the right thing 😉
@@fatgrandmafinds I still do some auction sales, which don't require immediate payment, unfortunately. But if I look back to when I began selling in the Wild West days of Ebay 20 years ago, I have to laugh at myself for getting impatient if I haven't received payment within 3 days. Back then, it was basically all auctions and buyers could even snail mail a money order or check to the seller. So we sometimes had to wait over a week to receive payment, then wait a couple days more days for that payment to clear our bank account before we could ship their order. BUT, we could also leave negative feedback for buyers back then. I seldom get a nonpaying bidder, but I also don't have much listed these days. It's more of a hobby instead of a business. I can see how this issue could be a significant problem to many full-time resellers. Also, Ebay used to refund sellers for any selling fees associated with a refund they issued to the buyer, but they no longer do that. So when you refund any overages of shipping charges, you're actually losing money on the shipping. I find this annoying and unfair. So I no longer refund shipping charges. So far, no buyers have complained. I try to let my customer service shine in other ways like shipping promptly, packaging carefully, including a handwritten note in each package, and messaging them after I drop their item off at the P.O. I'm sure this would be too time consuming if I were selling a large volume.
Money can be made in NYC. My wife and I are resellers from the city and we find great things all the time. NYC prices are a bit crazy but you gotta know where to look. Good video.

@@fatgrandmafinds I still do some auction sales, which don't require immediate payment, unfortunately.
But if I look back to when I began selling in the Wild West days of Ebay 20 years ago, I have to laugh at myself for getting impatient if I haven't received payment within 3 days. Back then, it was basically all auctions and buyers could even snail mail a money order or check to the seller. So we sometimes had to wait over a week to receive payment, then wait a couple days more days for that payment to clear our bank account before we could ship their order. BUT, we could also leave negative feedback for buyers back then.
I seldom get a nonpaying bidder, but I also don't have much listed these days. It's more of a hobby instead of a business. I can see how this issue could be a significant problem to many full-time resellers.
Also, Ebay used to refund sellers for any selling fees associated with a refund they issued to the buyer, but they no longer do that. So when you refund any overages of shipping charges, you're actually losing money on the shipping. I find this annoying and unfair. So I no longer refund shipping charges. So far, no buyers have complained. I try to let my customer service shine in other ways like shipping promptly, packaging carefully, including a handwritten note in each package, and messaging them after I drop their item off at the P.O. I'm sure this would be too time consuming if I were selling a large volume.
Money can be made in NYC. My wife and I are resellers from the city and we find great things all the time. NYC prices are a bit crazy but you gotta know where to look. Good video.
