- For this edition of Flashback Sunday, I am featuring a drum cover of Heatwave's Boogie Nights.
I'll admit it, I need to work on my groove, so what better opportunity than to play alongside this groovy tune from 1977.
A #2 hit for Heatwave in the 1977, Boogie Nights features the fine drumming of Ernest Berger. I like how he starts off with a swing beat and comping and then segues nicely into a pretty groovy beat. I also like his fills that end each verse as they are different each time around.
Overall, a fun song to do a drum cover on and I must admit I do like the song!

I was 10 in 1977 and play this song that year on the drums then the disco riot happened and I haven't played this song on the drums till tonight it's amazing letting disco go and when you are bored 45 years later how fun it is without a drum machine playing it.... nice job...

Great job! That brings back such memories (good and bad) I had a custom blue Ludwig vistalite kit since 1986 and had to part with it in 2015 when my wife and I downsized to an apartment! Miss those drums man! I have a double kick Roland TD-7/TD-6 kit with PD-21's and PD-85 (snare) I've had since 1987 I still play at Church!

Nice playing Jorge. I just watched another drummer try to play this song and it was a total train wreck. But I grew up playing this music so for me it's very easy to play, anyway great job!
