Do everything Disney does not. Don't spoil your main twist, don't tell the movie arc in chronological order, don't show random pictures without meaning, don't put generic one liners we've heard thousands of times. And nobody cares who the producers were from.
This is helpful, thanks! I'm a long-time professional writer/producer in the trailer and TV promo industry and (in my experience) it's exceptionally rare to have anyone sit down and formally explain and break down exactly what the job entails. This probably true in a lot of fields! Anyway, great video!
CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW This Breakdown came at the perfect time! I had just recorded some short sections out from the latest Dune 2 Trailer. I absolutely loved the slow dissolves as Christopher Walken's character was being introduced. That sequence was then followed immediately after by a “THIS YEAR” title card and while not exactly within 15-20 seconds; I definitely believe it plays to that Rising Tension. And in as you said “lay it out in plain language”, we are then sorely left pondering this purported antagonist’s true standing to the story - knowing only there was hostility in the few lines chosen to be included. It struck me also, how with these recent grand-style movies (Oppenheimer, Dune) they have all this cast to spare, but the Trailers have become their own delivery with the reveals. I am increasingly rewatching trailers not just for the “tease” but to enjoy this extension to a film. And even in the Oppenheimer Trailers, those dissolves and pacing and reordered dialogue are entirely specific to the Trailer format. Some movies/studios do it well, others not so much. Loved this editing/structure video!
Can you hear me now - as a wedding filmmaker trying to get into the realm of some of the greats, teaser edits usually take a lot more effort because they only get the best of the best, and they have to hook and keep interest.
Alex - I'm doing a doc on a music tribute artist and wonder if you've did a similar overview on a talking heads - 3 camera shots, I'm adding Burns treated stills - the process seems not to have the big dramatic shots - as with the action sequences - in this video - which is just Brilliant. Cheers Mate for all you insights.
Hey David, I havnt done something specifically like that but I do have a ton of videos breaking down every step of the documentary process. th-cam.com/play/PLh78Xr66mtqjweWs2Yz2lX8K8Zd_g6Crw.html&si=3qi7p9xO_hhJZ3e_
Thank you very much. I have found that sometimes the trailers of the movies are much better even the movie itself and I was wondering who's doing these awesome trailers...
Can you hear me now... As a vfx student i just simply loved this video and this is the only video in the world which can teach you how to edit a trailer perfectly❤❤ However when i thik to shoot something i just take my steps back because i don't have the most important thing 'the Camera' so i am in need of this camera and don't have enough money to buy the new one...
CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW I'm sure you did the other day😂 it's crazy how fast you created this breakdown haha or just a coincidence that I asked if you could do another breakdown/process of editing like the doc trailer😂 Anyways, this is so good! I'm gonna go watch it again😂 I can't thank you enough for sharing these valuable contents man. Cheers!
I hope you can hear me now. Why do you always make the content I want to watch (quite often exclusive content) and not have more subs than Peter McKinnon ? Your channel is awesome men ! By the way, please do not get into the basics of the basics of camera handling like so many creators do, it would be boring... Continue on that path !
Lol thanks brother🙏🏻 I really appreciate it man. And unfortunately, the reason why all those filmmakers get into the basics of basics is because they probably run out of things to talk about. And by attracting beginners to your channel, you can keep giving them the redundant information. While it’s a great strategy to grow a channel, I don’t believe that’s affective in growing a strong filmmaking community. However, I might have to dabble in that a little bit to grow the channel but I will for sure keep making contact like this even if it only gets a few hundred views lol 😂
@@Alexzarfatifilms Lmao yes it's good strategy but those creators who run out of content usually don't create at the same depth as you... If you actually do run out of content to create / want to grow the channel, why not do an editing tutorial series (I'm quite sure you're using Resolve, and there isn't a lot of content about how to use it down there...) ? I'm sure everyone would like it, beginners to get their hands on the software and more advanced editors to get some tips and tricks !
Alex...this trailer editing tutorial is FIRE!!! I am working a trailer now, and I am using your framework. I'll send the link when I am done. Let me know what you think. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. #iamyourcameraguy
great info as content creator hobbies. where would I get materials to edit for trailers? besides make my own or get b roll. any suggestions to practice editing trailers?
This is awesome content! I really wish you would do the same thing but for performance reels (it’s similar). No one and I mean NO ONE has made a video covering this. You would help live artists a ton. - Can You Hear Me Now?
