It’s not true that eyes are rounded to “look more like westerners”. Southeast Asians naturally have rounded eyes than East Asians, and since China has dominated Vietnam over four times totally 1,000 years (like Khánh Ly is singing about in the background of this video), and so we associate small eyes with the Chinese. There’s also discrimination against Chinese immigrants. So ethnic Vietnamese with small eyes (roughly 25-30%?) want to have rounded eyes just because they think it looks nicer and like everyone else. Not western beauty standards.

I was born in S. Vietnam in 1970. By 1975, it was over and I became stateless. My father was a CIA officer and the CIA promptly put my father along with 19 other family members on a Boeing headed for Los Angeles, California. I was stateless for a long time as my father refused to become a US citizen. Naturally, I joined my father in the CIA and agreed to work for world peace etc.... It's funny that the CIA want world peace but it does. I was given theassignment of working in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia. It's funny but the USA sells lots of arms to the Saudis and support their royal family. The Americans also support Israel, but there's no money in that. In America, cash is king and the Saudis have loads of it. I angered the British spies there because I managed the big American defense contracts, but the British have to accept the Saudis want American weapons. Defense and security go on as issues in 2022, and surprisingly Vietnam as risen from the ashes. They did extraordinarily well during the Covid pandemic and there are no food shortages or hunger. Countries like Australia are tanking under high inflation and high housing costs. It just goes to show the turn of the wheel.

what you know about Vietnam during the covid 19 epidemic is just a picture painted by the Vietnamese government and media and it is not 100% correct. I am a Vietnamese citizen and I am living in Vietnam and have witnessed what the Vietnamese government does for the Vietnamese people during the covid 19 pandemic. I don't mean to deny what the Vietnamese government has done to help Vietnam overcome the covid-19 pandemic, but there are things the Vietnamese government has done wrong and caused damage to the people. You should look at the problem objectively and realistically, not subjectively evaluate it through the media.

Vietnam got lucky on the first wave of Covid like some Western expert said. My wildest guess is that their unhealthy living conditions, foods and unsanitized water helped them adapted and immuned to this first strain of Covid. The next wave of Delta variant hit them hard. The country got shutdown. Testing and quarantine were national mandate conducted by local officials. Many poor people who lived in cramped rental space died in mass, unpublished or acknowledged by the Vietnam government. It impacted their tourism industry still nowadays.
Credit to Vietnam for forceful and quick vaccination with the world 's help. They needed that due to their highly social interactive economy and culture. The third world authoritarian approach was not civil or easy, but it is the way things are done there. I just hope that such pandemic would not happen again in Vietnam or anywhere in the world. Also hope that we all learn to prepare to deal with it if it ever happens again.

@@Λακρουά The damage from the COVID epidemic is due to the people's complacency. The government has warned, but part of the people are subjective and the disease has spread to many people and many people have died from this disease even though the government is trying to help people avoid the epidemic, they have not done anything wrong or caused any damage, it is because people have been subjective about the epidemic and some people have negative thoughts about China's COVID Vaccine and refuse to get vaccinated.
