That lift pump looks like the style on the old freightliners.
No kidding? Detroit. It probably fits on a lot of rigs.
I like my increased fuel pump, of the original style. My 1995 12v had many age related needs. Vacuum pump rebuild, and all vacuum line replacements. Other numerous things like flexible rubber brake lines, Big Honking air filter, big round air intake pipe. Just pulled 16000 lb gooseneck 1500 miles. I feel another 100,000 or more miles in the vehicle. ..it's the little you have to learn about!
I couldn't take being a 12v TH-cam mechanic anymore. Sold the truck 3 days ago. Lol
I've been binge watching OG&W after spending a TH-cam free month in China. "Pink Fingering it Out" is now my new favorite expression ! When you going to catch clams/harvest some seafood next? All this mechanicking making me feel greasy.....
I heard you were dead! Glad you're still kicking. A little brain damaged from binge watching OG&W....
Razor clam season here in Western Washington is in full swing... and so is the rain!
Time for a grease free mini van.
@@OffGridandWhiskey At one time when I lived off grid in the Santa Cruz Mountains I was responsible for something like 14 internal combustion engines and a micr-hydro power plant. When my youngest went away to college I was down to a pick-up and motorcycle (both under warranty). Now I just have to maintain a Chinese one-speed bike. I get my 'grease' vicariously through you so keep breaking things....
lol thanks man. You're a funny fella.
You're welcome! I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for tuning in.
@@OffGridandWhiskey EVER DEADLY! Where ya from? Looks like the pacific North West?
Good eye! I'm primarily based in Western WA near Aberdeen-Vegas. I bought property over in Eastern, WA last summer. Check out the 'Circle Bar Ranch' Playlist.
I see you got a rockin TH-cam channel. I better check it out!
Make sure your shut off solenoid is adjusted properly seems like that could be your issue, the truck isn’t getting enough fuel
I took the bloody shutoff solenoid off. Same. Removed AFC housing. Checked pump rack. Fine. Took afc apart, moved fuel plate all the way forward.... runs awesome.
Try that boost leak!
Okay. Thanks. Makes sense. I confirmed yesterday that the injector pump rack moves freely. Pretty sure it's not a fuel issue.
I will definitely be in suicide watch! Ugh I’m going through this problem now. The useless fuel heater letting all the damn air in and ultimately frying itself at the damn relay connector. SO SCHTUPID!!!! I’m just gonna stud mine. I’m over it.
I just SOLD mine! The whole truck. Lol. I couldn't take it anymore. With every fix, a new breakdown. Good luck!
to instwll the new fuel line you just chopped the metal fuel line and went straight to it?
Yes. I did.
@@OffGridandWhiskey was it a pain to get to the fuel line t the rail?
jst ordred the larry buck kit.
i heard that gy lkes to fvkc
Lol.
Yes. A pain, but taking the driver wheel off and cutting an access hole really helped.

Maybe a dumb question, but
Why did you splice into the rubber hose instead of cutting the steel line right behind where the hose is and putting the dan marinhose directly to the steel fuel line?
You know.... I don't remember. Drunk?
That’s no dodge-ma-haul. Good work trouble shooting. Been there. Probably something stupid like an iced cold under the accelerator foot feet. Check the fuel filter
Check on fuel filter. Dodge Ma-Haul blows Dodge! I'm doing a boost leak test tomorrow. And then buying a FOR SALE sign shortly after.
Did you figure it out yet?
I did. Small hole in rubber line going to turbo. I couldn't believe it.
Does it have an electrical port on the truck to look at the codes to see what the problems are? It kind of sounds like a computer problem to me. Funny it goes to a certain RPM and won't go any higher and the RPM doesn't go up and down if it is a fuel problem. I have heard that most of the time, if the injector goes bad, it will quit or not run at all.
I think the disco fancy codes came the next year. 1998. There's a speed sensor electronic part. One guy says it could be out. But all the boost leak. The turbo probably isn't even spooling. IdK
I had a dead pedal in my 24valve cummins... It ended up being the throttle positioning sensor. I don't think that's as applicable to your 12 valve... For sure there's an exhaust leak near the manifold judging by the big black billow of smoke on startup
I'll look into the TPS. I'm gonna remove the AFC and see if the injector pump rack is stuck.
Or buy a '4 Sale' sign.
Honda Odyssey mini van time!
You won't have any power with that leak off the turbo. I would also check your vgt valve. The turbo in that truck if I'm not mistaken is a variable turbine so the fins that make up the fan blades in the turbo won't move possibly du to bo pressure from that leak or the vgt valve. It's also very possible the turbo needs to be cleaned. If you do take it apart to clean get a new unisen ring and slather everything with anti sieze
Excellent. Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna do a boost leak test tomorrow and try to isolate the issue. Or issues. I'm new to diesel trucks, especially turbo. But I had a classic Range Rover addiction.... so I'm used to the mechanical pain and suffering. Lol. Stay tuned!
@@OffGridandWhiskey love your videos! Thanks for keeping me laughing! Good luck!
Hey, I appreciate hearing that! I have no clue half the time what people think about these vids. Thanks!
there is no vgt on this turbo, he would have an hx35 or an hy35, the turbo has nothing to do about this problem, the truck would still get up to high speeds without it, the wait to start light has nothing to do with your fuel heater, your wait to start is for your grid heaters for cold weather starting, you likely have a governor spring or rack problem in the pump, the truck might have slipped timing as well.
I see. Very useful information. Thank you!
DAMMIT!
Tell me about it. Stud.
You make me laugh in 5 seconds. Great 5th grade entertainment. REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I laughed..... I cried! I kissed 15 minutes goodbye!
Buy a scooter and call it a day
Tell yo mama to buy me a scooter! It's all fun & games until you get caught!
Aww :(
Exactly!
Injectors.
Okay. I'll investigate injectors.... but 1st... I gotta buy a 2007 Honda Odyssey!
@@OffGridandWhiskey Another Cummins owner experienced power degradation, changed the injectors, reset the valve lash and it was a "ripper".
Injection pump
Oh yeah? What makes you say that? Thanks!
I worked at a shop that had fleet of f-700 fords with 5.9 cummins about 100,ooo miles would lose power could not get air out of pump had to replace@@OffGridandWhiskey
Good to know. Any way to test the pump?
We sent the truck to diesel shopto get tested,1998-99 had a problem with injection pumps@@OffGridandWhiskey
