    Next time go under and unbolt flywheel first and Jack the front of the truck up a little or put front on ramps, goes in and out easy, beat them dents out the valve cover and keep going. Good job

    That was interesting to see. That's why I don't like small vehicles. All jam packed under the hood. Great job 👏

    take the torque converter off first next time. there should be some access holes for that.

    I upgraded to an electric fan assembly on my '92 Ranger. Pretty simple install and not terribly expensive. Saves the trouble with that fan pulley

    Cover the engine and bag/tag the bolts. May have been easier to disconnect the exhaust from the converter instead of unbolting exhaust manifolds while in the truck. Sometimes tightening bolts a fraction will crack them loose.

      Alot going wrong here.
      Removing exhaust at manifold is alot easier. Im currently doing oil pan gasket. My exhaust under transmission was going to restrict clearance, I thought. I got manifold down pipe bolts loose and off. And the after Catalytic Converter pipe to muffler bolts I easily got loose and off too.
      The 3 Catalytic Converter bolts to manifold down pipe where rusted too, and the one above pipe between floorboard frame and transmission was not accessable
      I removed wheel well on passenger side to get access to the manifold to down pipe bolts. Removed the two rusted bolts to down pipe to Catalytic Converter on each manifold. I used a torch to heat bolts, a small propane bottle $24 Home Depot.
      I actually laid under truck with long extension and a breaker bar and pipe for leverage. My leg pushed against drivers side tire to get more leverage, and bolt finally snapped loose.
      The oil pan removal required transmission removal. Then the exhaust slid across and out. The Catalytic Converter bolts where easier to break loose with 2 people, one to hold on ground and orher operate breaker bar. All three where rusted tight but good rust penetrant sprayed over a week helped alot

    One more inch in engine bay length would made it easier to get out.

    I literally just did a long block swap on my 03’ ranger it went pretty smooth took the motor out a Taurus it was the same 3.0 as was in the ranger but just had to use all my external parts of course and it was fine

    My buddy is a mechanic, he's always telling me, you're going to break them bolts, ALWAYS saying that. He is so surprised that I don't break any. NO HEAT Jesus Christ.... Just TIGHTEN a TINY BIT. that breaks it free then it backs right out. No matter if it's a water pump bolt or a Exhaust manifold bolt, any FITTING OR NUT.

    You should have put plate on intake and put your engine puller hook on that. you didn't disconnect engine synchronizer cable ,it pulled off ? Ouch ?

    Next time take it to a shop you never pull the torque converter out with the engine you’ll destroy the pump on the transmission

    • @rayrandy41
      @rayrandy41 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah he probably did bust the transmission pump. I wouldn't let work on anything I have.

    Drop a 4.2 van engine in.. same bellhousing pattern and more power. Mustang support too

    • @PureCountryof91
      @PureCountryof91 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasongoshorn6940 v6. The 3.8 Essex was modified later on and installed in fwd applications. These applications included freestar vans in later years, they have the same bellhousing as the 3.0 vulcan engine found in the Taurus and ranger. This will probably only work in auto models as there's the issue of a custom flywheel for the manual. But, the flex plate should be the same as the bell housings are the same. The bigger v6 makes 215hp and 230# of torque.. the 3.0 is lucky to make 150hp and 140# of torque..

    Do you have to disconnect anything with the AC unit?

    • @jamesconnor9142
      @jamesconnor9142 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      AC didnt need disconnected.
      Im currently replacing front gaskets on 3.0 V6 1995. The unit will unbolt and rest where it is. Then remove the mount the AC rest on.
      Save a recharge
