Little tip for ya, you can put air dry (it’s what we call the wax for gel coat) in the first coat. The wax doesn’t come to the surface immediately and it’s still bendable for up to 72 hours. Where I work at we do all our gel coating in two coats. First coat has some air dry in it and the second has the correct amount. If it’s been over the 72 hours just give it a little sanding with 40 or 80 grit and you’re good to go. It’ll save you from leaving foot/hand prints in the sticky gelcoat
What kind of resin again is that for the fuel tank? And when you say mat/combo is that like a 1708 and chopstrand mat? Also have you ever heard of plascore? I’m fixing to use it to build a deck and was thinking of using it to make a hard top. It was very affordable but it’s a plastic honey comb hollow core with a scrim backing to lay up fiberglass.
Vinyl Esther Resin. Yes mat = chop strand, I'n not sure of the exact weight our guys use. Combo is a double layer of mat and woven cloth great for building alternating layers. We have heard of plascore but we don't use it. I know others have had some success with it for certain applications. Maybe check our forum or one of the many fiberglass forums on the web.
Actually, we've been working hard on this boat. The customer added a ton of fiberglass work. A lot of work that doesn't really make for compelling video. I have some footage, I need to start putting together some more videos on this one. We are nearing the final stages where some more good video opportunities will take place. Stay tuned.

Did you finish it or did the customer put it off?
