- Plagued by shortages in supply I have to think outside the box to make sure I get this Catamaran Deck Build. The Dilemma , " No Foam Core " available anywhere and it has the potential to hold me back for months if not longer.

You know what Rosco? You are a very intelligent man . What you have to work out with maths and the actual science behind all that you do , needs a very smart brain. You are creative and what I love about you videos is that you are humble and kind and always explain how things work for people like me. I understand most of it but untill it comes together with each prosess I'm lost at what it all means. But I can say to built your own Cat is an amazing feat and not many people in the world have done what you are achieving. Think about it ! It is so much more completed than building a two story house. It really is an amazing talent you have. Also I know this is long but you do things the right way and are very strict at using the products so you get the best results. Just look at the beautiful C company you have to see the results of your work. If I could give you a medal for an A+ I would . Well done Aussie Aussie Aussie!

Been watching Sailing Parlay Revival TH-cam channel. Hes in a middle of fixing a design flaw of a lagoon 450 bulkheads. Seeing what a "professional" production does on their Catamaran...compare it to what your doing....like night and day....your work is far SUPERIOR then theirs. Your catamaran will last for decades! (besides the occasional touch up and fixes as most vessels need over time). Looking forward to all your videos.

I have a bit of fiberglass work to do and I was struggling with paying for it to be done or just jump in and have at it. I have done a few minor patches. But nothing like what I need to do. It's for an aircraft so weight and strength is important.
I will let you know how it goes.

Gday Rossco, we are absolutely loving tassie mate , best decision we have made. I work 4 days a week on the water and now have a Master 24 ticket. Great job with your boat , l can’t wait to see her in the water.I have been paddling also and am just about to put in a lot more time and get paddle fit for next summer. A few overnights and exploring coming up . How much longer will the build take ? Might be up before Christmas and will come down and have a couple of beers with you. Say hi to Janet and Tracey and the gang for me cheers buddy👍👍

I think your method of using up the smaller sheets of foam, is definitely the way to go, that way as you said, you've got all the larger sheets to do the larger jobs later on. Resourcefulness, now that's a smart mans way on how to do things right.
You know you got the needed experience for the job when we see your proficiency with Auto CAD design, or better known as Card board design, a lot of folks just don't realize how beneficial it really is to use templates, when ever possible, the time alone that is save on a project really makes a huge difference, it just speeds up the building process in so many ways. Once you get really handy with templates it just makes a real noticeable difference.
Well Ross I have to admit man you've man some great progress on this project lately, a real noticeable difference.. Good for you man. You must be stoked

Great work on everything one thing I gotta say on the foam core no matter how you cut it it is the same amount of cutting better off cuts the way you did it but same amount of cutting good on you
My hat is off to you. I cannot imagine taking on a task like building a CAT. I find it very interesting.
Add another layer to raise the toilet the Higher you go up The Wider the base is for the toilet or head
I, for one, have really appreciated you adding the photos of the intended finished boat sections into your presentation so it makes it a little easier to try to mentally flip the mold and turn it inside out to see what "we" are working on. It's very important that I don't make a mistake here!
I've forgotten, have you had the hull inspected by the inspector yet, or is that only on the finished boat?
Yes divinicell is quite expensive but exellent making a stiff surface, just be sure to make a good wet bonding to the laminate
Definately wet mix,2 percent catalyst to hot coat Sea lite.Good prep and quick work the key to the bond.Ross
Been down your way in winter, there's plenty of sea foam you could have used.
Originally what make and model catamaran were the molds used for? Voyager 440? I’d love to see photos of what it might look like when complete.

Is flex engineered in to the laminate schedule ? By changing will it move flex to more vulnerable are?
Have you ever used a hot knife on the foam ?

One question, would it not be worth using foam strips on the radius areas as I would think the condensation attraction of a solid glass infill would be a pain to the headlining and cause drips too.
Dam you don't shy away from a hard days work that's for sure. Nine hours on your knees like that is hard on a yung guy. I'm not implying your an old man like me but
What is the roller with a long handle and cord? Vibrating?
It is a vibrating roller Kevin.Has a piston and acts like a mini steamroller that agitates the sealite into the pores and perforations of the foam.

With all the challenges Colin has had to overcome on his cat @parlayrevival does it make you think about adding a bit more lamination to the bulkheads and joints on your own boat.
as an amateur builder and repairer myself your looks so much stronger to me than the mass-produced versions that are built to a time cost budget. so I was just wondering...
I know I've peeled away a few layers on mine to make sure all is good before I splash her.

Hey Gav,will be beefing up where it is critical no doubt.Weight of the fixings on the big production boats is a lot of the problem I fear.I am reducing weight wherever I can. Ross
@@LifeOnTheHulls I've taken the belt and braces approach to my repairs.
Because I'm no expert I've wolloped the glass down.
My hull and keep are now about an inch thick 😁

Actually ok needed some sanding and clean up.Had a hoard of dust and dirt from storage over the years.Beggar couldn't be a chooser in this case.Rossco
Try coosa panels.
Coosa panels are great for bulkheads transom etc,won't work in this instance they are already laminated and don't lend them to cover contoured surfaces and minimal bending.Cheers mate.Ross
