Only the Poms would think of making a gearshift gate that built in a delay, so the driver couldn't shift into reverse too quickly and maybe damage the transmission.
If you love trucks, restore them. The "patina" fad today only exists because people are too cheap or sloppy or lazy to do it right. It wouldn't have been a rusty shitbox in service.
I worked on the Rolls Royce diesels as an apprentice, most were the supercharged version (C range 4,6 ,and 8's ) but we also swapped them out for Cummins .The Rollers were beautifully made but as he says they were a bit tentative performance wise, so when the Cummins were installed they were a touch overpowered..ha ha en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolls-Royce_C_range_engines
The owner seems to know his stuff, but ! The Scammell looks badly neglected, he won’t be restoring that, there’s allot of other tat around his yard just rotting...
This truck has been bought and will be restored.
Astounding grader.

I hope someone saves this piece of history

You really need to save this truck. Says an old Scammell apprentice. Who's first job piping up Scarabs fuel tanks!
I was at Tolpits Lane in the early to mid 80s. Was sad to watch it all go down the toilet.
Kevin Smith
It is gate gear box They were used on road lorries as well.

Awsome truck ..keep the great videos up they are very interesting for a 26 year old lol
The Rolls Royce engines were great but the price of parts was an absolute fortune.
It does look like a over sized M series Bedford cab....
Miss your show Bill

Cheers from America !

Actual Scammell story ends at 18 mins, load of other stuff inc adverts after!

"...proud owner of this Scammel"- letting it rot away in a paddock. Very proud, responsible owner, indeed.
