Just like Ruyi said towards the end, he's a selfish, narcissistic coward, that can only turn his head away. He complained how he's lonely and no one understands him, she DID but he pushed her away. He felt incompetent and less of a man comparing to Ling Yunche who was brave and truly wanted to protect the Royals with his life that's why he took the manhood of Ling Yunche away. It's such a blessing not to live that era. It's no wonder Ruyi chose death and saw that it was her only way to freedom. She's had enough. I'm glad she's free.
I absolutely love the part when Ruyi and her servant hugs each other after the Emperor and Empress left 😭 it shows how much they care for each other and they both suffer in the Cold Palace. It’s no longer just servant and mistress but more like sisterhood 💕
I found this show through TH-cam also. But the full episodes are also on Amazon Prime video, along with Yanxi palace. It's another must see show that is on both TH-cam and Amazon Prime video
Even if Ling Yunche was acting under command to protect her, he was still the only one to save them from the fire (his supposed partner even tried to stop him.) What's a robe draping over actual action? Even Ruyi knows it, hence the subtle removal of the robe. The king was also simping over another lady just moments before this. Ruyi deserved better.
I think Ruyi was pretty much over the emperor by the time she was freed from the Cold Palace as well as the drama amongst the other Consorts...you could kinda see the change in her demeanor around him, especially in the episode where her closest servant Souxin was beaten and tortured in the Hall of Careful Punishment, yet the only thing Consort Jai got was demoted from consort to concubine and I forgot what her accomplices got. Ruyi was always punished harshly when she was accused by the other consorts and their scheming...but whenever their misdeeds were uncovered, (when she was accused of having an affair with a Buddhist Priest or Monk) they only received the lightest punishments (demotion, house arrest, etc.)
@@jazzee87 I read and realised that one of the main problems that contributed to Ruyi's tragic tale is she didn't have a strong family to back her up. The first empress had it, consort Jia was a foreign woman who came from the Noble clan (Korea). Ling Gui Fei was a yes woman which is why she knew how and what to say and do to please the Emperor. Ruyi wouldn't go along with everything he wanted and this is a problem in the emperor's eyes. We will never truly know the truth but I have just started realising that Ruyi was always portrayed as a villain but it might not have been the case.
@@therealfinnaspring8585 you cannot simply be "sent home to family". 😂😂😂 The palace had strict rules. Once you're the King's woman, you're forever under the palace's control. All concubines falling out of favor gets sent to isolation for life usually in the "Cold Palace". You live the rest of your life in isolation and die there. Your servants must go with you as well. More egregious acts will result in death. People do go mad in under isolation for decades, and do commit suicide there.
Ruling only one thing. She loved him with her whole heart. He broke her heart the night he was with those girls on the little island. When she cut her hair I hurt so bad for her. There was no love left in her heart for him. Its a shame they took her out of history. She was a very special Lady, and yes she could've run the country better than butt britches.
At the end of the day, Ruyi was his favorite person, however, he cared about himself, and everything else more than cared about his love for her EVEN though it was over all the other women and people
He was IN love with Ruyi at this time but as the emperor explained to her later, he we was fearful for her physical safety and thought it best to imprison her at the cold palace so his scheming harem couldn't harm "the one he favored". He failed but that doesn't mean he didn't love her.

Mei April, If you’re talking about Ruyi’s Royal Love in the palace (this clip) the emperor is the same actor throughout. If you’re comparing with Yanxi Palace, all the actors are different from this series but it’s about the same historical emperor and same women in his harem. These characters exist in history but not the same story though.
Pushing away the emperor's robe and reaching out for Suoxin instead is such a beautiful symbolic gesture 5:45
Because sweet Suoxin was there with her suffering as much as her 🥺
The Empress is crazy, saying the way ruyi talked to the Emperor she hasn't given up, but did ruyi even say anything to the Emperor.
Bruh she was so kind and calculated the whole time in this show. The dude did not deserve her at all. She was more fitting to be a ruler than the guy.

You know who your trully friends are in the hard times and Souxin didn't doubt in going with Ruyi to the Cold palace.
Gestures like the emperor giving Ruyi his cape is what kills the empress. She wished she could feel one oz of that love from the emperor
Anyone else watching this show through youtube snippits? No idea why youtube decided to show it to me, but I am super invested
You have to watch it! Highly recommend!!
That's how I got hooked, too! >^.^

Ruyi inspires loyalty and devotion. She never demands it.
Ruyi, suoxin and hailan are my favorite trio....
Me too
And rongpei later became one of my favorites too
@@tealhiid yes, she sassed his ass to kingdom come😂
You cant forget Rongpei. Their loyalty to each others as friends was deep. I would say these ladies were more family than friends!
Rongpei, Consort Shu and Consort Ying became close faves of mines as well.
I love that she cast his robe aside
Me too. I felt it! 😂😂😂
Ruyi only pulled the emperors' golden cape close to hide for a moment. After the emperor left she threw it away and held Suoxin.

I wish he had just divorced her and sent her home to her family. Would have saved her a lot of heart ache.

@5:48 might be the most purest scene ever in the series. And everything is so perfect, even the music…
Big statement giving her his golden coat.. 😁
Ruyis swoop bang is so beautiful on her, I want to do it but don't have enough hair and it's hard to lay down correctly
To get more bangs... go back at the top of your head’s hair ... pull more hairs from back and around to the front and cut to have more bangs.
She became the symbol of his inablity to protect and or provide protection. He is a joke, and his women tells him this on their death beds.😎🤣😎

4:28. “Cold Palace is on fire. Is everyone okay?”.......yeah thanks Captain Obvious 🙄
This happens when you get multiple wives
Having multiple spouses (whether wives or husbands) will always cause trouble.
The Empress is not very intelligent. She does not think things through - or think before she speaks. Consort Jia has to keep her in line! LOL
Yk what really sucked back then? That they ain’t have cameras
IM not going to sit out here and front.... INCHESSSSSSSS!!!
这顾佳贵妃还真是跟烟花有缘啊
哈哈我也想这么说。
皇上你快看我老公设计的蓝色烟花好不好看
高贵妃那时候就喜欢烟火啦,怪不得后来要生产蓝色烟花
They had that water contraption back then?
Takes place roughly from 1750 to 1766. Think pre-Revolutionary War era for Americans.
Only the emperor gets yellow.
It's the royal color meant for emperors.
What was Ruyi holding that rolled away from her when she died?
I'd be like her her helper my loyalty would be to ruyi too
When the emperor can be so fake ahahhaa
I dont like the ending ...its sad
the end of the series, or the end of this clip? The end was so beautifully done... though tragic, she was finally free.
I'm confused. How come everyone is the same but a different actor for emperor?
