I'm going to be honest. Black manta is one of the only reasons I'm looking forward Aquaman 2.
I adore Zack's approach to DC with his mythological approach, but I also love James' approach. Fully accepting of the ridiculousness and the nature of the comic books. Aquaman was amazing, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II nailed the role of Black Manta, I liked how his character was more of a anti hero and not a straight up villain, the Black Manta suit looked incredible 👏👏👏
I like that they came up with an in universe explanation for Black Manta’s helmet being so ridiculously big: it needs to be that big to handle the sheer energy output from the lasers it shoots
doesn't change the fact that it looks ridiculous and tacky
He looks like the Black Manta from the comics. Movie fans are so picky and horrible
Phantom Ultra agreed I personally liked it. Can be considered more accurate to the source
@@nathanielmccormack4830 here's the thing though : first i'm not a comic fan nor a dc/marvel movie maniac, i just say things the way i see it and this costum for a movie is tacky.
second, what works for comic media doesn't necessarily means it still works for cinema. 2D animation is very different with 3D moving media. that's why some live-action film is often boring, they can't bring out the emotion that 2D media allows them to because 3D is much more constricting. a good example is lion king live action, the original feels alot more lively and you could really see the expressions of each character because well they're cartoon, while the "live-action" remake can't compare because they're constricted by realism.
if they can't adapt how the costume looks for movie adaptation even just a little bit, then that's not staying true to the comics, that's just lazy design.
plus as alot of people have said in this comment section already : the movie itself is fun and not bad for a movie night, but the costume looks cheap for an aqua man movie. if this was a power rangers movie however this would fit in nicely, but it's not. some scenes are welldone while others look rushed. as someone on this comment section have already said, "this movie manages to look high budget and low budget at the same time." and with 25k likes, he's not the only one who thinks that way.

Atlantean technology
@@ManusiaKagakRusuh Did you make all that up just to defend it?
I know this film was a bit simple, but I love how they made black manta is familiar with machinery and isn't afraid to adopt foreign technology, not to mention he and the antagonist team up perfectly
shame he didn't get a lot of time to shine, his troops were kind of a pushover and more as a special effect, and he himself only saw minimal action as they had to rush to complete the story
I honestly had no idea who black manta was before I saw this movie and I used to alot of DC comic books when I was a kid but was never big into aquaman but after seeing this black manta is honestly one of my favorite super villains and the actor that played him did an amazing job he honestly reminded me alot of willem dafoes green goblin
I love this scene. It's not very often we get a supervillain montage.
Might as well love how he hated Aquaman for killing his Dad when they are hijacking a submarine, killed many people, and play victim in the end to have a reasonable revenge.
@LottieLottie LettsomeLettsome 💀
@@nursultantulyakbay6643 it's not like hes pretending they were doing good things, but realistically anyone(who is close to their parent) is gonna be pretty livid if someone else is responsible for killing them. Makes sense
Kinda ended dumb when he was tryna shoot lasers out his helmet and POINTED IT TOWARDS HIMSELF
😂😂😂 it was a pretty epic scene. I love the crooked smirks he give when receiving his weaponry and yeah the lab montage . I've never seen the movie and this makes me want to see it. Seems very tongue in cheek.
Kid: “Mom can we buy Iron man?”
Mom: “we got iron man at home”
Iron man at home:
This iron man is called black manta,. A better version
Greedy Creaks no
@@greedycreaks8491 ok buddy.
Chris Cowan mcu fans get to have no opinion bro, stfu
Greedy Creaks it was my opinion to say “no”
its super cool that they take the extra step to include the montage where he makes this outfit, amazing¡
To this day i think this scene was one of the most beautifully coloured and vibrant scenes ive ever seen in any film. Also i loved this movie so fkn much!
If the gun is powered by water, does it just never turn off down in Atlantis?
"Please take this gun, we've lost so many buildings and monuments"
They basically have to have trigger discipline
It's something called a trigger.

@@3mbthelabel you guys beat me to it.
It's not powered by water, it "converts" water into plasma most likely extracting the hydrogen to use for fusion
Essentially, Black Manta has to drink water to fire the laser.
Yep pretty much
How does he pee in the suit then?
Adrian Cruz he uses the pee
@@gunsmoke6197 fair point
He needs stays hidrated
Atlanteans : "Here's a weapon"
Black Manta : "Is this ........ A Helmet?"
Damn, got chills watching this scene. Love Black Manta!
He's lucky all that goo he dumped out wasn't a vital component.
That kind of reminds me that pod scene in the matrix 😂😂😂
Black Manta: oh shit I needed that goo
*starts scooping it back into the helmet with his hands*
That scene was so dump, in a otherwise decent movie.
Thats the dumb part. If he could reverse Atlantean tech and convert 3 foot gun into a helmet laser then these idiots wasted their time. Cause it seems like all you need to make it work is the jewel/rock component to focus the inner, whatever component you use to covert water and well...water...which I'm guessing this idiot installed some heat pump to create water, the vent system sucks the water into suit, When needed the water goes over the converter and charges the jewel.
But even then I still don't believe this guy who make this. THe Reason Black Manta worked is because he was Atlantean. The funny thing is this guy failed. HARD. Giving him a bigger gun won't stop Superman lite

People: complains about too much cgi on hero movies
Also people: complains about real costumes
Lol true
People love complaining, there's no real reason why. They just complain for the sake of complaining. I am not one of those people.
Aidan Smith Same here. Not every movie needs to be perfect cgi.
People complain about both bad cgi and bad costumes. This particular movie looks like a Power Ranger show.
That's because this movie has both: bad CGI & bad costumes
I watched this clip without any sound, but just the subtitles. It really looked goofy when he strutted to the chest full of armor, pulled out the sword, whacked it about, and then fired the laser squirt gun. The slow grin had me laughing so hard, I fell off my chair dying.
