DC is campy because their characters are old and campy but iconic or 2000s emo and unlikable and they went with the iconic ones for the movies.

Marvel is colorful and fake where as DC is darker but more realistic in its portrayal to real life struggles, physically and mentally. Ive yet to see a MCU movie that's a masterpiece in cinematography and music score because everything's lazy work in front of a green screen.

Talking about chemistry, I did feel that they were like brother and sister instead of lovers. I was surprised when the movie revealed that they were couple. (I never read the Aquaman story so I was totally clueless about Mera and Aquaman)
He has said there was absolutely no chemistry between them whatsover, I don't think he liked her at all, he must have know something Johnny didn't.
