PT out of those 2 but I think the Smallbox would work great for me. I need ACDC and EVH tones for the music I am playing these days. Such great sounding amps!
The Little Sister is a KICKASS little head. I'm not a big Friedman guy--I'm used to Uberschalls, Triamps and Rectos, but the Dirty Shirley amps are just *chef's kiss*
These both really need a footswitch to toggle between gain structures - my Meaa Electradyne has this feature and it makes for a usable options playing live
Thanks for nice review guys! I’ve had Pink Taco (PT) since it was released and I still used it and love it. Reason: Dave Friedman knows how to voice amps so that you can hear each individual note when you play a chord. That’s it. It means there is not too much gain or not too much bass. For me the Little Sister(Dirty Shirley) is classic Malcom Young amp with it’s strenghts being in low gain sounds. PT is gainier, but not necessarily less traditional amp. You can get low gain out of it as well. If you want it all (more gain and good cleans), you go with Little Sister added with your choice of pedals. If you want just the right edge of breakup sounds or classic Marshall 800 gain, you go with Pink Taco. Only pedals you need is boost and delay with it. Everything else is piano playing, not rock’n’roll! 😂
Would be incredible to have both in a two amp setup: Little Sister set cleanish; add a low gain OD for your second gain stage; switch over to the Taco for gain stage #3. And if you need it you can run a boost into Taco for gain stage #4.
I believe that the Little Sister being based on the Dirty Shirley it will also benefit from a clean boost into the preamp for magical high gain tone. (This is a "secret" of the Shirley circuit.)
The Dirty Shirley over the Taco any day of the week. I owned both at one point and ended up selling the Taco mainly because it lacked bottom and and just didn't have the voicing the Dirty Shirley has
THE TOP AMP JUST SOUNDS AWESOME!!!! LOVE THE CLARITY WHICH IS WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR!!!!! I WANT MY PEDALS TO DO THE HEAVY LIFTING AND THE VINTAGE LOOKING AMP SEEMS LIKE IT WOULD SOUND ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! THE OTHER AMP SOUNDS A LIL' TOO FUZZY AND COMPRESSED FOR MY TASTE!!!! GREAT AMPS THOUGH!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS SWEETWATER AND MUSICIANS ALIKE!!!!!
@@GeauxSaints121 I would imagine it's possible, it's just a switch. Probably would effect the warranty tho. These carry a lifetime warranty.. pretty cool.
I’ll take two little sisters for a stereo setup at church. One dirty and one clean. I’ll keep my old hot rod deluxe for a third amp for my ehx organ pedal.
They both seem extraordinarily good..The "Little Sister" would be my choice.. My only fear is spending 1,500 for an amp that I cannot gig with. I'd have to know that it will atleast get to 105 decibels with a 2x12 cab.
@@joejohnson8966 Thanks. I play a couple of clubs that seat around 700-800 people and have standing room sections to accommodate around 100. I'm very happy with my rig but I may take a ride to Atlanta to check out this Little Sister head after holidays. Thanks again.
Hi, thanks for your interest! The Little Sister and PT20 V2 don’t have footswitch inputs. However, you could use a boost or overdrive pedal to hit the input harder for a similar effect. Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions. Thanks again! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com
They're not footswitch- able.. but Dave Friedman prides himself on how responsive the Amps are to guitar volume changes. Probably go clean to dirty with just guitar volume ? Stacked with the correct boost pedal= pretty versatile.
I wish Mitch would have tried using the guitar's volume control to see if they would clean up. I've seen other demos for these amps and the player did get a nice clean tone out of the Little Sister with an LP style guitar.
I have both, In sound I prefer the little sister, in my experience the jubilee needs a boost pedal. I am impressed with the FRIEDMAN Amps. Also el84 tubes are cheaper than EL34, the construction seems pretty solid and with cathode bias there is no need for BIAS adjustment, in the long run little sister is cheaper to maintain…
I have the jubilee, been using it for about 8 years for practice and small gigs. It’s good, but the little sister here seems to have what I’ve been missing (although I can’t really explain what it is). I’m really close to ordering the LS!

Both...
Both is the answer, therein lies the conundrum. A two-channel "Little Taco" or "Pink Sister" is the only reasonable solution.

The little sister is so good they can barely play for more than a few seconds before having to stop and awe over the tone. So awesome.
I love the all black PT-20 but the Little Sister has killer tone! Classic.
Little Sister has my vote 👍
I think the search is over I'm glad I waited for a low watt plex model. Little sister with an array of OD pedals.🔥👍

"MAN"-OMETER: Mitch comes in at an impressive 16 "man"s , but just couldn't catch Don at 33 "man"s!! 🏆
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
👍👍👍
😂😂😂
Underrated
Man oh man 😂😂😂😂
I'd love to get that Little Sister. Seems like a great amp
Get it!!!! You'll never sell it
Could you start putting chapter markers in your TH-cam videos, Sweetwater?
I know witch one I like. Both! And a great video too, thanks for sharing 🤘

There's the Twin Sister, which is basically 2 Dirty Shirley in one, and 40w instead of 20w like the Little Sister.
Friedman amps are amps designed and made by an amp tech who knows his stuff, a reason the amps are superb!
Great job! You guys put the 'Man' into Friedman in this review. Great to watch and great sounding amps.
Anything that makes it easier but keeps quality. Perfection.
I liked the clean channel on the Little Sister and the drive channel on the PT
I believe that the Little Sister being based on the Dirty Shirley it will also benefit from a clean boost into the preamp for magical high gain tone. (This is a "secret" of the Shirley circuit.)
What a great demo. You guys are class acts. Rock on brothers!
That Strat and Pink Taco total win!😎
The Dirty Shirley over the Taco any day of the week. I owned both at one point and ended up selling the Taco mainly because it lacked bottom and and just didn't have the voicing the Dirty Shirley has
I've listen to demos of the taco and I did not like it at all. You made the right choice.
Agreed taco has no bass
Awesome demo guys, thanks for the upload

Another great demo. All the Friedman amps are great! Both of these guys are fine players and very articulate.
“Let’s dive into the little sister “ my personal motto
That Strat and the Pink Taco so yummy!
Two awesome sounding amps.
What is the cab? Dirty Shirley mini?
Wow they both sound good.
One Little Sister,please!!!👍
Please Santa, bring me the PT20v2!
If the structure switch was foot switchable I'd purchase the PT20 instantly.
My thoughts exactly.
Same here. I wonder if he can mod for that.
@@GeauxSaints121 I would imagine it's possible, it's just a switch. Probably would effect the warranty tho. These carry a lifetime warranty.. pretty cool.
mod it to have both circuits in one.
Don's Strat always sounds so good to me. Anyone know what model it is and/or what pickups are in it?
Thanks! It’s a 1987 American Standard with Seymour Duncan Classic Stacks from the late ‘90s. I’ve put a LOT of hours and miles on that guitar!

@@sweetwater Awesome, thanks Don! It certainly shows! Always sound great, my man.
Great review/video as always!
How does 20watts hold up
on a live situation with no miking.?
Some great sounds but you can’t be going to your amp to change settings between songs on stage.
Old skool then bro AB box put ur fender beside it.. Now ur a monster Lmao... Yes they need a footswitch for the stages for sure!
"Vol 8, Master 3" do you mean gain on 8? And do you mean 8:00 and 3:00 or do you mean 8/10 and 3/10?
Thanks!
There is a really easy solution… get them both.
Good demo. Are those noiseless pickups on the strat?
Sound great but i live in the uk. The Marshall factory isn’t far. The studio 20 watt amps they do are great.
Little Sister all the way.
Excellent job guys
Man...I think i'm sold man !😊
I’ll take two little sisters for a stereo setup at church.

Just get a Twin Sister and be done with it.
Taco V2....small club worthy without being mic'd up?....sounds amazing!!!
That all depends who your drummer is
Excellent riffage gents☮️
Friedman builds great amps. As stated, just find the one voiced for the flavor of choice.
Just so you know, Dave's designs are manufactured by BOUTIQUE AMPS DISTRIBUTION in Commerce, CA.
Is that strat fiesta red ?
They should of had a room mic or something.
They both seem extraordinarily good..The "Little Sister" would be my choice..

Without any doubt. They are loud enough.
You can %120 gig with it

@@stricknine8623 Glad to have helped. Have a wonderful day.
@@stricknine8623 I would imagine it definitely can, but if headroom is a concern you can always opt for the 40w Dirty Shirley.
call me crazy but i prefer the cut and bite of the PT over the LS
You'd have to play one yourself I find the pink taco lacks bottom end and just doesn't have the voice that the Dirty Shirley brings
I love that PT too, again you have to play these amps yourself in the same room before you throw the $$$’s
Do they make both of those amps in one head?
sold!!!
So is the 20w's able to keep up with most drummers, without having to be mic'd up?
Yes!
Magic of television 😂
very helpful video
Are the gain levels foot-switchable?

Arent they made in the same factory as spare parts for refrigerators and shopping carts?
Such a shame Friedman Amps are so much more expensive here in Europe than Marshall's for example.
Marshalls are far more expensive in the US. Apparently it’s shipping and import taxes on both ends.

Hopefully one cay I can afford one.
SOON YOU WILL!
so no clean sound for a humbucker? That's a little sad

Cool. Friedman amps are great. But stop saying "man." Thanks man. 🙂

With a name like Friedman, I'd be scared it could be a Ponzi scheme. 😮 For real, they are nice pieces.
