- Whilst visiting Southern California earlier this year we stopped by the Boutique Amps factory to catch up with our good friend, Dave Friedman! After a few hours touring the facility and testing some top secret items we sat down with Dave to learn a little more about his design process, and what the future looks like for Friedman Amplification!

Jack is such a class act. Killer player but also very articulate and to the point on interviews.
Dave is the KING of amps! Love mine and has the best customer service. I have emailed him several times over the years and he always responds quickly and professionally. Love my Friedmans!
Dave is on of the very very few people whoncome off really really genuine even on video। long Love the Plexi King!!
Thanks for what you do Dave !👍
Sitting here with my little sister amp💖 and seeing the shelf it sat on before Dave personally tested it and signed the chassis 🤗. Building a better Marshall Fender and Vox than Marshall Fender and Vox.... and the man answers your emails ! Long live Dave!
Yeah I've had my Little Sister six months now - love it!, such a great range of sounds and really responds to the way you dig in. I really appreciate that Dave makes amps that can still work so well for late night home playing too - thank you Dave!
A vintage sounding AC amp from Dave is highly exciting. I can’t wait to hear one.
Best ears in the business. Nothing but respect for Dave. He feels like an old friend that jammed with you way back then.
Amen. Very helpful bloke with an amazing ear for amp design.
I love my Friedman wildwood smallbox and twin sister.
Always a pleasure to hear Dave talk about gear.
I really want to see and hear the Jake E Lee Mini, I hope is at least 2 channels. Having that plexi channel in a mini amp would be amazing.
I want a Dave Friedman Princeton with a 12" Celestion Creamback....c'mon Mr Dave 😝
That would be great. Write to him & pay up. He'll build it.
I have a little sister and it sounds awesome
I have 3 older sisters and they all annoy me
The interviewer is so good. Dude knows his stuff
He is the amp guy of this era
Please do the deluxe in Princeton package. Love my small box! Can’t wait for a 50w plexi. The plexi channel of my small box is my favorite amp at this point…can’t wit for a small box plexi with variac. Dave does answer emails. Don’t drop dead! These amps make life better/more fun! Keeping rock alive.
Small box is an excellent, excellent versatile amp that cranks Plexi all day and has great effects loop. Not to mention industry standard high gain channel.
Great amp builder and one of the few that responds personally to customer emails!
Ah Jack, what a gem, glad to see him on an upload.
Jack and Dave in one vid! I don’t think this camera is capable of containing so much class in a single frame
Very nice interview!! Thanks Jack!!
Really good to see Jack on here.
great interview thanks
Jack we miss you in the videos
Still enjoying my BE100. Bought one about a year after they came out. Superb.
Really good questions for Dave, well done!
"I don't want to pre"
"Here's all the details!"
Dave's the best. Can't wait to hear his spin on his classic amps. Would love if he did a vintage tweed style amp!
This interview really motivates me to buy one of his pedals or amps.
He is legit - give his stuff a whirl. Smallbox pedal, smallbox amp, JEL20 amp, Runt 20 amp, etc etc - just awesome
JEL20 will be here tomorrow - long live Dave Friedman!!
Dave Friedman is the professor of FEEL.
Take my money now for that Princeton/deluxe hybrid
Dave Friedman is great but you also have to appreciate the gentleman asking the questions, excellent knowledgeable interviewer!
I'm sitting here waiting on my Twin Sister to arrive. The SG I ordered along with it is holding things up but good things come to those who wait, even if impatiently! 😂
The Friedman JJ is still the best amp I own/played! I would love to try the Twin Sister though. 🤤
Totally agree,I own a jj100 and have owned some great amps but the friedman is a total face melter
Friedman Princeton sized combo would be killer
I'm so excited for the vintage line, the thing I haven't loved about Dave's amps are how preamp distortion oriented they are and I think that has just been out of necessity from the market but the vintage line is exactly what I love
Bought a Dirty Shirley when they were first released. Dave personally responds to emails. Don’t get that with Fender or Marshall.
Sign me up for the vintage plexi!
I like the Princeton idea
Dave is exactly right
Dave Friedman is living the dream. Sitting atop a boutique amp empire, working a dream job 9-5 only 1-2 days a week, while maintaining such a high level of QC and attention to detail thanks to a fantastic team of workers behind you. One can only wish to be so lucky in a career path.
Well, he is WORKING the dream, I think... 😉 And for sure not only two days a week.
@@guitarplayer_de He said that's what he does (sneaking in extra hours though I'm sure)
@@NewPraetorianBlues Watch it again (min 15:45). He sais, he is testing amps for final acceptance two days a week. In addition, he will probably also develop new amps and run his company... 😉
@@guitarplayer_de ah! I see thanks lol
Jack knows the stuff.
A 20-35 watt Brown Fender w/trem and reverb would be awesome. Just anything but another Deluxe..lol More in the realm of a Super, Pro or Vibrolux. Head versions would be a huge plus.
I'm dying for a PT20V2
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I play Fretless bass mostly,, And vintage gibsons with. the bridge pick up rolling..
Dave's pedals golden pearl and Buxtom In front of my 1970 Marshal major...
I emailed him are you asked him the questions he gave it his blessing and guess what I can play?
That's 70 Marshall major my fretless or any of my gibsons.
Without a threat to my health. Or the health of any other you get my sound?❤
FYI....the background music is not necessary during interviews. It's hard to hear the actual interview.
Dave doesn't seem to be comfortable in this video. Must have caught him on a bad day.
He’s like that in every video if you watch him closely. He may be really introverted. Or he could be just nervous in front of a camera. Ya never know about some folks. I’m just glad we get to hear him explain things.
I don’t see it at all. I mean, ultimately, Dave is an amp builder first and foremost. Not everyone wants to be a TH-cam show pony.
Background music in interviews is very annoying.
