Thank you so much for sharing your story! I too have had my own "no contact" period of life with my own mother. She went as far as to sue me for "grandparents rights" to see my daughter! THAT is a whole story!! As strange as it is, it gives me comfort knowing I'm not alone in needing to take space from mother. Some people are toxic; unfortunately, some toxic people are parents. Your husband's disconnection wasn't an easy decision, but it was necessary to preserve his mental health and the well being of his family. One of my best friend's went thru this. They kept being promised things would be better and things were worse each time they reunited. They had to disconnect multiple times. They finally accepted the fact that no matter how much they wished they could have that relationship, the parents were just too unwell for that to ever happen. Sorry you and your husband have had to go thru that as well. Thanks for sharing your story. There are many walking this path with you.
I cannot understand any parent who would willing cause strife in their child’s life and pretend to be a saint. As a mom, I just don’t understand. Imagine your child cutting you out of their life and never having contact with them again or the family they’re building?!! Smh… God has blessed you and your husband.

The only reason she let you stay there was to keep you indebted to her, so she could keep you close and try to control you. That to some ppl it would make her look kind was a bonus
Yep sounds like my parents I'm thankful I was able to maintain a relationship with my dad til the day he died. I was holding his hand as he passed. I have no idea why he didn't leave her though.
It’s sickening how parents can flip like a switch and turn on there kids for no reason at all I also know from experience it just tragic. But you can be better and be the person you wanted to be without all of that drama and Neglect and Abuse
