Paint the lettering with acylic paint or any water based paint, then wipe as you suggested. afterwards clear coat the switch gear. Did this to my Z500 switchgear and works fine., also find 20W oil works well in the forks of my little GS125, yes you guested it it is really 20W/50 engine oil. good to see the progress.

Hi Mark - I just got myself a 1975 GT185 but not quite the basket case you had. Mine is running but needs a few things. Do you mind me asking how much it cost you - all up (not in manhours just in parts). Great videos by the way, they will come in very handy over the next few months. Thanks.

Hey Nige, thanks for your comment and to answer your question, ive lost track of how much it has cost me. The engine was the biggest expense due to how trashed it was. It helps a lot to try and fix what you have with other stuff. The chrome will cost me, thats why I'm just touching it up with paint for now. I have just brought bits each payday as i seen the need. For me i will guess around $2,000 to get were I am now.
      Glad your enjoying the videos,
      Cheers Mark

@@markxtinkering Thanks Markz. I guess it will suck up as much money as you want to throw at it? I am more of a maintainer than a restorer so can equate to your comment about trying to fix what you have. A bike that is over 45 years old is going to have issues. However, a bit of elbow grease and some good cleaning and lubrication products can make a real difference. That is a testament to the Japanese and their quality of manufacture. The videos are great, and I like your honesty. Thank you.

Well most my stuff comes from places like wemoto, partzilla, Robinsons foundry, cms, cruising image...and there is good ol Ebay. There is more but if your stuck, search the part number on google and select the "shopping" tab. If you don't have the part number, buy a parts catalogue because it will come in very handy.
Hope you enjoy the series, cheers, Mark
