Thank you guys for all your comments hope yall loved it I have a surprise for this year show in Houston I will be bringing another rare bike completely built along with other beautiful bikes so don't mis this 2024 show in May here in Houston hope to see yall there.
Watching from the UK . I remember seeing the GJS freestyle bikes in the magazines we could get from the USA back in the 80's . If it were me but it isn't I'd put the Z rims on the bike they just look the business . Good luck with the build guys . I just know it'll be rad what ever parts you decide to use .
@@bmx_dreaming Hi mate . I've been looking and asking around but haven't found anyone in the UK with one so if they are here people are keeping them hidden very well . I found some on BMX museum . There's maybe 15 -20 freestylers but only 5 maybe 6 have the square chain stay .
Thanks, great video I took a chance on a gjs Freestyle in the early 80s. Was a tank. This video brought me back to great memories of building mine. Sold it for money for my first apartment .
Awesome, I feel like his life parallels mine, I started getting into freestyle in 85, unfortunately my first GT bike was a pro series but then later on I got a performer
GJS!!! Holy cow, I haven’t heard that name in such a long time! This is absolute BMX gold right here! And those parts???? Oh man, I look forward to seeing this bike in person at the Austin show! This will be worth the trip from Hawaii to check it out! As for the rims, I’m gonna suggest the Z rims….love the look of those things! Thanks for sharing this!
Such a cool story! About the bike and and even more so about Sergio and his family. From a color scheme perspective I think the black z rims would look great on that bike. And I don’t want to grow up either! ❤
I restored my brothers GJS 20+ years ago tuff neck CW bars landing gear forks with a set of ACS Mike Buff Z rims with ACS hubs restored by the legendary Gordy at Freewheel bike shop in GR Michigan. He was an old school bmx'er that rode for kuwahara. Even back then GJS was rare as hens teeth
Back in 84 i rode with a guy who had a gJs. We had access to a few half pipes. Dan cracked it i think in under a month. He swapped to a Quad angle at the time. gJs was "supposed" to warranty it, but i don't think that ever happened. I wonder what ever happened with that frame
This is a gem!. I can't wait to see this at the BMX show in Austin. I'll bring three of my rare bird original pink 1985 haro master and orange 1985 cw California freestyle mike buff limited edition and 1988 woody iston strike zone.
Had a gjs in 82. The front headset had good control but also seemed low for bmx. Rode like a quad angle, kind of like mongoose or pk ripper.. The bacl looks like the Haro freestyle frame from 1984.
Oh man! I had a GJS 85 Freestyler two tone lavender and pink! The frame and forks were identical to this one with the square chain stay tubes. My father gave it away on me without me knowing! Uggg! 😢. This is the only other two tone GJS I have seen. So there was at least two built!
I wanted a Haro back then. I took it back to my friend that gave me the GJS. We lived in Saginaw Michigan back then, I do not know what he has done with it since. Haven't spoken to or seen him since 1989.
Its very cool for sure, however not as rare as one may think. GJS did make more of these, I have seen one or two of them at bike shows. I think Surgar Cayne also has a BMX show that he had videoed as well, but non the less a very cool bike,
I had the ACS stem the flight cranks , dia comp brakes and z rims on a 86 redline 20ii . I loved that bike I am still mad at myself for selling it. I sold it on eBay in 2003 for 600 bucks ! It’s probably worth six thousand now lol
Id probably say the Elf Freestyle frame or the first powerlite freestyle frames are a bit more rare than the GJS. Still an awesome and rare whip though.
I'd put Black Graphite Tuff II's and white Odyssey barefoot tires on it. But that's just me... lol 😎👍 Come on, Odyssey... Bring back the barefoot tires!
Shit man I’m from DENVER CO thanks for sharing this I’ve never seen anything like it nice I could only wish I’ll try to make it to see it in person ✊🏽✊🏽💯💯
I sold mine to a guy in Australia 😢 years ago.....what were the actual production numbers? And I heard that Jeff Utterback did all of the welding on those himself? Is that true?
it’s a prototype!!!!! > they never even made a real bike with it! SO it has NO PLACE in our memories & arguably no place in BMX history! Not to take away from the story, but its only special because it’s sentimental to one family! & good for them! Also, i don’t see how its Special for BMX, especially if there was only less than 10 other models in Europe & NOT EVEN IN THE US, when BMX was BORN IN USA!
LMAO, I’m sure it out of your price range. The bike is real and has been built as complete and sold to new bmx collector (The history continues). Thank you for proving how special it is with it being the only one in the world 🤣🤣📈
@@bmx_dreaming we are talking about something that NEVER made it to production! But we live in a time that EVERYONE gets a participation trophy even if its a failure! 🏆 Thats TRUTH! & I was not trying to be mean but your insult/ dig on $ shows true colors!

I own a g js I believe it's somewhere from an 83 to an 84 it has a lot of square tubing built-in peg extensions it was originally pink and purple but was stolen later recovered and repainted the only other identifying mark on the is the serial number f 350 if anyone out there has any information it would be
@@bmx_dreaming I still own it I was trying to complete it but it's really hard to find parts considering I don't know the year and I'm going strictly by memory my mother bought it for me
Idk if it's a common thing you do or not. But cutting out 1 or 2 sec pauses in people speaking slow to shorten the run time is not a good idea. It's making the video look broken and skipping, and even realizing it's not, viewers won't be able to prevent having that reaction. It's not worth the number of cuts just to save 2 or 3 mins. I honestly don't know if I'll get through the whole 18 minutes if it all the way thru.
No that's bull shit u put it in the freezer the acs hubs are crap get your self bulls I hubs kooks brothers cranks landing gear forks by se raceing cw stander bars pro neck araya rims kkt liteing peddles uni seat gjs frame chrome with pitbull brakes don't forget the dirt skert nickel plated change I still have mine want to by it

Hopefully it’s just a figure of speech and your really not taking these bike that serious.. The bike turned out awesome and got an offer he couldn’t pass up.( on to others)
Yeah I think his “dayglow pink NOS GT “87” team model is a better looking bike. But then again you have every production color of 87-88 GT’s and may others you tend to collect for uniqueness 🙌🏽😎 Go my video of the “Texas round up ATX” you’ll see this was built up 🥇
Hate to say this guy’s, but there’s a rarer bike than this. THE rarest Bmx freestyle bike ever made that was featured in magazines and everything. The Uni Crossfire Bmx complete bike. Same company that did the “ Turbo” seats “ G’Nades” grips ,Crossfire wheel covers,& crossfire plates. Plus the big fat Uni pegs.
@@bmx_dreaming the way it was described to me is a graphite composite frame molded over lightweight metal subframe made of thin metal rods. It’s been since the early 80s since I read the article so I can’t remember the specific details.
