You got me with the wide toebox ❤. Until today all Hoka shoes were pressing my toes like a nutcracker❗Hoka so called wide was just a looser upper..
Careful as the toebox is generous in volume but the midfoot remains in line with HOKA’s lasts 😉

Still only have 12 miles on my Rocket X2 after 6 months. Underwhelming to me. Guessing I am a Cielo X1 preferred runner as I LOVE the AF V1 (4 pairs), Prime X V1 (2 pairs), and Prime X Strung V1. I'm mainly a marathon racer. VP 3 is my race shoe!
EXCELLENT video. You do an excellent job at presenting a very organized analysis of the shoes, comparing and contrasting each variable, with a good balance of objective and subjective assessments. I also feel you are very fair in how you present the material and don’t feel like I’m being sold anything.
My takeaway from the video is that I need to try the Cielo X1. I have the Rocket X2 and love it, but I don’t feel I’m fast enough to take advantage of the shoes for long distances. That’s where the Cielo X1 might work for me.

As a bigger runner (190-200 lbs) who is doing a prep for a military physical test (1.5 mile run aiming for 9 mins) and would you use the Cielo or the Rocket?
How does the upper fits comparing to Mach 5? Is it snugger?

At the Cielo X1 launch, Hoka said they are still developing the Rocket line, so expect a Rocket X3.

I love the Mach 5 and am looking at both of these shoes to be my racing shoe for my first marathon and my next half. Do you have any opinion on which is the closest in feel to the Mach 5?
Rocket x2. Not as tall as Cielo and same drop as the Mach 5.
I didn’t find your review very informative. You said the rocket x2 is not a very stable shoe and that’s far from the truth!!! Nike Vaporfly is NOT a very stable shoe. Also, the Cielo X1 is especially good for heel strikers. It’s actually not ideal for toe strikers. Maybe try and be less biased because you were probably doing the review thinking of a “Nike” while talking about a “Hoka”.

@gbilya2 I respectfully disagree. I have the CX1 and agree it favors midfoot and forefoot strikers.
