  • How to Grow & Care for Zinnia - In this video you are going to learn everything about Zinnia like how to grow it, care for it and finally how to get lots of blooms. It's an easy to grow plants if you know the basic things.
    If you didn't know, Zinnia is the longest lasting flower and flowers last for minimum 24 days. This is according to many online sources but in my case, flowers lasted for 40+ days.
    The best thing about Zinnia is that, you can grow it throughout the year and at the same time keep enjoying the blooms.

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @sai sravani, Thank you very much for your feedback, appreciate it :-) If you are properly taking care, they would germinate, no worry! Just proper watering and bright light is needed. Also, please note that the soil should not dry out completely or it shouldn't be too wet. To sprout fast, we can always soak the seeds (only the bigger seeds) in plain water for around 4-6 hours and then soak them. This year, I bought the Zinnia seeds from SeedsnPots but I am yet to sow them and so not sure about quality actually :-( But, overall their quality is good. So, I believe you can try once. I would sow them tomorrow :-)

    Sorry dada l can not speak in English language pls.understand if there are any mistakes . I like & understand your speaking 🙂 thank you

      @GardeningUpbeat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Sl Magare, First of all you absolutely no need to say sorry! In fact, I also need to improve my English a lot and I believe new videos are bit better. Back to your question -
      The dwarf variety grow bushier itself...and I am really afraid to pinch Zinnia. Since your plant is already blooming well, no need to do pinching. It actually need fertilizer and then it would look bushier. You have mustard cake and it's the king of all organic fertilizer. Definitely you can use it on your plant now :-) You can directly apply the powder on the soil (plz remove the surrounding soil first and then only apply the fertilizer. If you keep them on top, fungus might attack the plant). 10-15 grams (2-3 teaspoons) would be more than enough. Or if you wan to use liquid, then take 150 - 200 grams in 10 liter water and keep it for 4-5 days. Next you can apply around 100-150 ml per plant. Hope that helps :-)

      @patrusmaxsiontinggal 94, 3 cm tall means you recently transplanted it (If I am not wrong). After transplanting, it's always better to keep any seedlings in bright area for 2-5 days and then only in direct sunlight.

    I can't find instruction on how to handle zinnias at the END of their life cycle. They might still produce flowers but their stalks are dry and ugly, bent over by wind and an eyesore. When do you pull them up (or cut them off)? Ideally I would like to keep them until it frosts later in the fall but they have a blight and other than the flower are just ugly. Anyone have suggestions?

    I love this flower i want to try this plant my area is cold is it ok

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @Rosevan Cande, If you want to grow from the seeds, then plz note that Zinnia seeds would germinate well when the soil temperature is 60-80°F (16°C - 27°C). And, Zinnias will grow in a minimum daytime temperature is about - 59°F (15°C) n nighttime temperature above - 50°F (10°C). Temperature lower than that can cause foliage die-back disease.
      If it's too cold in your place, I would recommend you to grow Zinnias in Spring. Plz let me know if you have any questions and I would be glad to help you. Thank you :-)
