Just got my bike all fired up! Thanks again for this killer build series. Honestly wasn't sure if I could have done it without your videos. Now on to rebuild bottom end on a 96 KX100. 😂
Thanks for the series this will help me out a lot with my 04x. just curious how can you tell if the seats are beat up or in good shape? this is my first 4 stroke rebuild
You'll be able to tell because if it's not in too bad of shape it will look fresh machine cut when you clean it. you will see if there is any corrosion, abrasion or any damage . but by all means follow the instructions in the service manual I've linked in the description to check them out
Phenomenal build series! I've been using your videos like a Bible on my first rebuild on my 07 crf250r. Although did I completely miss the build section of you reinstalling the flywheel and everything on that side?
Hey Thanks for watching! Long story short on that. I was trying a new camera in 4K and it didn’t work out. I had it all recorded but when I exported the video from my editing program it cut it off and I didn’t notice until after I uploaded it 🤷🏼♂
Ah gotcha! But from what I can tell the more important side of things as far as assembly was on the transmission side. Which by the way you did a killer job of explaining and I was able to get functioning just as you described. Unfortunately tonight as I was torquing down the clutch bolts and springs to the 9ft lbs it snapped a head off one of the bolts. Gonna have to get an extractor and hope I can get it out. Worst case, I'll be buying an owm inner bucket.
@northernmx5973 that was my thought. Haha unfortunately it's just one more thing to have to order. Luckily my issue turned out to be identical to the one you rebuilt. My piston, cylinder and head were somehow totally untouched. You can still see the cross hatching in the cylinder so I was able to get away with just a bottom end rebuild.
Question on some of the terminology you use. What do you mean by vapor blasting? I’m getting ready to rebuild a 2014 engine (bad crank) and I’m getting everything I need together. Was going to buy a sand blaster for powder coat prep but never heard of vapor blasting.
@@northernmx5973 ok yeah, I started researching it a bit. I’m probably going to try and make a home made one here. Did you do the same or what did you end up using? Awesome videos by the way and thank you for making these. It really helped me understand the inner workings of how these engines perform. Very thorough with instructions, tips, and tricks also dude. You should be proud of yourself!
@@mcdmn717 thanks! You can go back through my channel videos and watch my vapour blasting videos and I have links in the descriptions to helpful videos I watched to build my cabinet
Love the content. I recently but new ring and pistons in my 04 250r. But when I go to kick it over it gets halfway and completely locks up, any clue on the issue ?
Thanks, if I have to armchair mechanic guess then I’d say the timing chain fell off the bottom crank drive gear (typically happens on Hondas) when you took the cam out it slipped off the teeth down there and it’s getting bound up when it turns. Easiest way to tell is by taking the flywheel cover off and looking behind the flywheel. And definitely triple check that its timed correctly

@@harkness10 Wow that's crazy but it’s better it snapped off now than when in operation. Sounds like it was on it's way out

Great video. Love how detailed you are. Did you end up lapping those new valves to the head so they seal properly?
I don't have the tools to do that but the valves and seats looked in good shape and got a good cleaning
@@northernmx5973 right on. Keep up the good work boss👍🏻

Vapour blasting is just using a wet cabinet mixing very fine glass bead media and blasting the parts with it
