What I did to this unit was use Isopropyl Alcohol and a cloth to rub it off. It's a rubbery coating that unfortunately breaks down over time so removing it is the only way to get rid of it. It is a bit of work but the unit is painted black underneath the coating so it still looks nice when it's removed.
