That would be correct if the Palestinians were ever truly offered a sovereign state! The Palestinians did reject the first deal back in the 40's. Senseless & baseless comment. According to a leading Israeli human rights organization, B’Tselem, has declared that Israel is an apartheid state. B’Tselem published a position paper in January 2023 titled “A Regime of Jewish Supremacy from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea: This Is Apartheid” 1.
Bollocks. The main reason a peace agreement was not reached is that Israel right from its creation in 1948 had and has the intention of having all of Palestine for itself. It wants all of the West Bank and all of Jerusalem both of which it has controlled since 1967. All peace initiatives have been scuttled by Israel whilst continuously building ILLEGAL settlements in the West Bank and stealing more and more Palestinian territories. They do not want the Palestinians to have their own state. They just want the Palestinians to die or be pushed in to Jordan and Egypt or live a wretched life in destitute poverty in the occupied territories.
@@misterk7970 Nonsense. On November 29, 1947 the UN General Assembly passed a resolution giving the Arabs of that region an independent state of their own. Where is that state? Why was it never established? Because the Arabs, led by Amin al-Husseini (who signed an alliance with Hitler), decided to spit in the face of the world and instead attack the Jews. Who occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza between 1948-1967? Why did those countries do nothing (in fact, they did exactly the opposite) to improve the plight of the local occupied population? Not give them basic civil rights? Self-government? Where were the worldwide protests then? The solidarity rallies and international condemnations? There were none - it didn't involve the Jews and the Palestinians as a political national identity hadn't been invented yet. The truth is that, as a famous statesman once said: "The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity". If Israel wants all the land, why did it give back Gaza to the Palestinians? The choice in favor of destitute poverty (only for the average citizen on the street of course) is that of the corrupt Palestinian leadership who steals the billions they get in international aid, wasting them on arms, attack tunnels, payments for terrorists, and the bank accounts of their multi-millionaire leaders, some of whom wallow in 5 star hotels in the Gulf, instead of using it for schools, apartments, hospitals etc.
The sexual atrocities and the barbarity of the October attack is conveniently ignored. While condemning Israel for trying to defend itself while they seek to wipe them out.
Allow me to lift-up the rock you’ve been living under; & inform you the clock never started on 7/10, but started more than 70 years when their country was given by a foreign power to another people for the creation of a new state. What followed was many innocent babies, defenceless children, and women being killed ever since. According to the UN, Gaza is under illegal foreign occupation by Israel & an illegal blockade. under UN resolution #3246, people under occupation has every right to self-determination & to fight for their liberation by all available means, including armed struggle. Free free Palestine 🇵🇸
Their either has to be a 2 State Solution according to the 1967 borders. Which would mean removal of the illegal Israeli settlers (Under international law). Or. A One State Solution based on full civic rights for both people like South Africa. You can't keep 5 million ppl under a brutal occupation for 75 years.
Why are the UN & Biden not putting pressure on Egypt to open its border and allow the Palestinians to be evacuated into Egypt. Millions of Ukrainians were evacuated into Poland.
Why are the Palestinians not asking Jordan for a two state solution? In 1947 in order to placate the Hashemites, Britain gave the Hashemites, Jordan which was 80% of the land of British mandated Palestine. The land of Jordan is populated entirely by Palestinian Arabs, who were living in British mandated Palestine before it was carved into Jordan in 1947 by the British. The Hashemites have no historical roots to the land of Jordan.
Unpopular opinion: As long as Hamas or PLO takes control in Gaza, Palestine will never be recognized as a state. Instead, there will be more sufferings to come, and again the innocents will be used as human shields. POV: Ben Shapiro is still the BEST handling the questions.
hamass is only the name of the military force of gaza which means it is those innocent people defending themselves ..have u ever seen any of those citizens say anything bad abt it ? actually there r no records .. the civilians chaser of their homes have gathered to defend themselves were called a force of terrorisme ? and the one chasing em. out had become right that's just sad ... it shows how much information is either being hidden or manipulated ....
The PLO are the only party pushing for a 2 state solution. We're in a situation where if Israel negotiates, they will end up with less land than if they don't... so why should they?
Ben Shapiro is not the best at all, when you look at his response carefully, you realise that he channels the question into a very specific element of it and then he speaks very fast appealing to logic - and in the rush, people don't realise he's skipped the fundamental question and just used one specific element to try and out debate you.
The recognition of Palestine has nothing to do with its present government. This is a legal, international law issue. PERIOD. Postscript: Ben Shapiro is a fraud and a sophist. Please go to credible historians like Ilan Pappe.
@faysal8597 I agree. He speaks powerfully, articulately, and movingly. Kinda’ reminds me of another very effective propagandist, Adolf Hitler. Ever hear of him?
Kids. Wake up. If you want the same rights to protest as you have now at Oxford, equal rights between men and women, the right to choose your own identity, the right to democracy, and the right to be free , then I suggest living in Israel.
@@marcm807it probably has to do with the reason the Nakba happened in the first place and why the Palestinians have not given up on their alleged right of return. The entire nationalism of Palestinians is predicated on the end of Israel, while historically speaking, Zionism has not be so predicated (they said yes to partition). What country would ever willfully admit a gigantic fitfth column into their citizenry? That'd be suicide, and it's precisely why this conflict will never end. Peace can only be a realistic option if Palestinians give up on their "right of return" to the sovereign state of Israel. They can return to the Palestinian territories, and partition can be accepted by the second party, only nearly a century late, creating a Palestinian state. Once the Palestinians give up that cudgel they've held to Israels head for the last 75 years, Israel will be more than happy to concede land in a peace agreement.
@marcm807 All Israeli citizens have equal rights already. Not a single Muslim country can say the same. It is 1,000,000x better to live in Israel as a minority than any Arab, or Muslim country on the planet. So, of course Jews don't want to live in a majority Arab country.
I think human rights organisations know this so you can ask them 😂😂😂 Or search on Google of the definition of Apartheid Which Is Some people get all their rights, others, not based on racial discrimination, like race. So the Palestinians can live in their land
Facts please! With regards to corruption and criminal antecedents you may want to check on those of the current Israeli government and do not forget Olmert and Sharon.
I find it interesting that Mr.Zomlot appears to be acting hypocritically. On the one hand he criticizes the UK for not recognizing Palestine as a legitimate sovereign State. Yet, on the other hand, he says nothing about Israel’s right to exist as a sovereign State. “Good for me, but not for thee” That’s scary… because his PLO party is supposed to be the moderate one.

As expected he skirts around the important question. Multiple polls, not just in the 'heat of the moment" reflect the same thing, that the average person on the ground does not accept living in peace with Israel as 2 states, and this is a fundamental issue that we cannot just ignore th-cam.com/video/8ujzcoT9eEw/w-d-xo.html. Its true that the PA rewards families of suicide bombers TO THIS DAY. Just calling it "propaganda nonsense" doesnt make it go away
You wont be rewarded with bad behaviour with having your own stare after hammas committed terroism. The sooner you accept israel as a state, the better it will be for the Palestinians
One of the non-Muslim looking students asked the following questions: 1 - In a poll of residents in the West Bank, 75% supported the Hamas massacres of Jews on 10/7/23 2 - How can the PA continue to pay families from the Martyrs Fund…where murders of Jews are incentivized. 3 - As a consequence of the above, how can the PA/PLO purport to be a player in the road to peace when it fails to inculcate support for peace among its own people? In my opinion, he doesn’t really answer any of the questions He dismisses the poll in question # 1. Says he’s not aware of it and maintained that if he asked Palestinians if they want peace, and a two state solution “maybe 80% would say, yes.” Personally, I highly doubt it. Doesn’t directly answer # 2. At best, he rationalizes the Martyrs Fund without even mentioning it. Finally, in his monologue - at the end of which he basically tells the student that “it’s all propaganda” by Israel - he appears to blame Israel for all the problems the PA has to deal with and it’s Israel’s fault for there not being peace. This is not leadership. Sorry… I wish I could have said that Mr. Zomlot has my strong vote to lead an Israeli-Palestinian Peace Agreement.
Claiming this argument starts with the Balfour declaration, clearly points to the religious roots of this argument. Why was Judaism stateless until 1948....
I can understand why most people view Israel as a Fourth Reich, but in fairness there are more of a continuation and evolution of the Third Reich. It is so sad to see 😢
ISRAEL existed as the Jewish homeland before the Romans created Palestine. The Roman empire destroyed the Jewish homeland in the year 70ce and colonized the area naming it palestine, it remained a colony of various empires, (Roman, Byzantine, Persian, early Islamic caliphates, Crusaders, other Islamic empires, Mamluk, Ottoman, British) until 1948 when the Jews returned and reestablished their natural homeland ending nearly 2000 years of colonization.
Judea you mean ...Zionists picked the name Israel for it's biblical meaning...to take advantage of that meaning and and try to get away with anything claiming they are God's chosen people
Fine. But you can’t drive out the local population and massacre them. Ok you can change the dynasty, empire or government, but you can’t drive the people out of their home by saying that your ancestors lived there 3000 year ago
Israel is a colonial racist and apartheid state according to international law. Nobody cares what your religious book says. According to ISIS, their book says they should have an Islamic khalifa. Just like I don't care about what they think they're religion says, I don't care what you think yours says. You're either following international law or you're a religious extremists.
Many jews left, a minority stayed and built societies with Christians and Arabs. They and their descendants have more right to live there than a family from Brooklyn .
Israel needs to ANNEX Gaza. The Palestinians have no desire to live in peace with the Israelis. Keep in mind, roughly 70% of them supported Hamas, and support the attack on Israel citizens. They would be much happier resettling in Sinai as a collective to maintain their supposed culture. Gaza strip is strategic for Israel's border, but completely useless for the Palestinians to create a homeland. Sinai has great potential for them to build a real nation. Gaza does not. It's too small, and will always be nothing more than a subsidized open air prison. They deserve better. Move them to Sinai, and let them build a real home in peace. And for those who think it's ethnic cleansing. It's not ethnic cleansing when you actually implement policies to save lives. Palestine started this war by invading a sovereign nation that did not attack them. Under the historic international rules of war, the Israelis now have every right and authority to annex the territory and relocate a population that refuses to live in peace with them. That's the way it is, whether everyone likes it or not.

The main reason that a peace agreement wasn't achieved is the interest of the PLO in getting more aid money

Nonsense.
💯
It's always entertaining listening to a PhD from Egypt explain away any outcome other than allowing his genetic family to return home.
Thank you
Their either has to be a 2 State Solution according to the 1967 borders.

He speaks powerfully, articulately, and movingly.

Kids. Wake up. If you want the same rights to protest as you have now at Oxford, equal rights between men and women, the right to choose your own identity, the right to democracy, and the right to be free , then I suggest living in Israel.

A one state solution, with one person one vote and equal rights regardless of religion, ethnicity etc, has always been dismissed by Israel.

Funny how he invokes anti apartheid commentary when referring to Israel. A country that is 20%arab muslim. From the River.....
You cry over words while Isreal continues to steal land from Palestinians in the West Bank, displacing families.
I think human rights organisations know this
so you can ask them 😂😂😂

Nothing said about recognising Israel right to exist. ‘Nuff said
Well that’s why the PA and Israel have a working relationship. This mess wouldn’t have happened if they were in charge of Gaza and not Hamas.
And that’s why they will never have a state.
I don’t recognise Israel. It’s been created by robbing other people based on some bogus ideological basis that has no actual geopolitical basis.
Where did he get that ‘80%’ statistic from?

Dr Zumlot would be great leader of Palestine.
I find it interesting that Mr.Zomlot appears to be acting hypocritically.
On the one hand he criticizes the UK for not recognizing Palestine as a legitimate sovereign State.
Yet, on the other hand, he says nothing about Israel’s right to exist as a sovereign State.
“Good for me, but not for thee”
That’s scary… because his PLO party is supposed to be the moderate one.

Why no condemnation for 7th October?
You wont be rewarded with bad behaviour with having your own stare after hammas committed terroism. The sooner you accept israel as a state, the better it will be for the Palestinians
One of the non-Muslim looking students asked the following questions:
1 - In a poll of residents in the West Bank, 75% supported the Hamas massacres of Jews on 10/7/23
2 - How can the PA continue to pay families from the Martyrs Fund…where murders of Jews are incentivized.
3 - As a consequence of the above, how can the PA/PLO purport to be a player in the road to peace when it fails to inculcate support for peace among its own people?
In my opinion, he doesn’t really answer any of the questions
He dismisses the poll in question # 1.
Says he’s not aware of it and maintained that if he asked Palestinians if they want peace,
and a two state solution “maybe 80% would say, yes.”
Personally, I highly doubt it.
He doesn’t need your vote.

Would Palestinians accept a state that does include at least part of Jerusalem?
Would Israel accept losing access to Jerusalem?

ISRAEL existed as the Jewish homeland before the Romans created Palestine.
The Roman empire destroyed the Jewish homeland in the year 70ce and colonized the area naming it palestine, it remained a colony of various empires,
(Roman,
Byzantine,
Persian,
early Islamic caliphates,
Crusaders,
other Islamic empires,
Mamluk,
Ottoman,
British)
until 1948 when the Jews returned and reestablished their natural homeland ending nearly 2000 years of colonization.

Fine. But you can’t drive out the local population and massacre them. Ok you can change the dynasty, empire or government, but you can’t drive the people out of their home by saying that your ancestors lived there 3000 year ago

The polls are never correct as your speaker man said, when the poll of 65% of Gazans supporting the 7th October was highlighted.
😂
