  • So close to perfection, but these few small design oversights hold it back in my opinion. A beautiful case nonetheless, and I'm glad to have one within my reach.

    I love this case. I totally agree that the feet design is well done and the 2.5" drive mounts are placed nicely. One thing that bothers me is that 3.5" drives can only be secured with screws in their bays on one side. They don't really move around so it's not a huge deal, but I'd have liked to see removable bays for easier installation and to make room for a 360mm rad.

    I got this case with with the kraken x62 which has a 280mm rad that i mounted in the front. So its not restricted to 240 or 220mm rad in the front. You just need to to first mount the fans on the case then attach the radiator. Not the usual and confortable way of mouting them but it does the same purpose.

    That AIO is mounted backwards regarding where the pipes end on the radiator, they should be pointing downwards, that will improve temps and also give more lifespan to the product

  • @azzadazza1983
    @azzadazza1983 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've got an s340 elite. Love it. I've got a corsair h100i at the front pulling in fresh air, then i use the top as an intake which feeds cool air to my aio radiator for my gpu which i have mounted at the rear, works brilliantly and keeps cool temps. Also subscribed, lovely work on your video mate.

  • @giuliodibartolo3619
    @giuliodibartolo3619 6 ปีที่แล้ว +46

    (my opinion) I think they didn't put 2 fan slots on the top because, if there are 2 fans as intake, and 3 as exhaust, you will create negative air pressure inside the case, that equals to more dust inside the case. And using the fans in the top portion of the case as an intake is a bad idea because hot air goes to the top and you want to get it out

    • @chestermy5211
      @chestermy5211 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Giulio Di Bartolo From what I've read, it comes with 2 case fans, one at the top and one at rear, both exhaust.

    • @giuliodibartolo3619
      @giuliodibartolo3619 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Chester MY I know that there are 2 exhaust fans (I have the case), but in the video he says that he wanted an additional fan at the top, so in total there'll be 3 fans as exhaust. Now you might say that they could remove the fan at the back, wich will be a bad idea because at first it will look horrible, it will be bad for air flow and and even worse with an air cooler, as most of them push hot air to the left (back of the case). Watching the video again, the cable shroud is removable with five screws, and it will still be impossible to mount a radiator and the top, as the case is not tall enough and the radiator will be on the motherboard

    • @giuliodibartolo3619
      @giuliodibartolo3619 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But I Love It All Smooth -This doesn't look like a good idea because this way you will have to keep the intake fans almost at 100% all the time to keep a constant volume of air inside the case. And having exhaust fans at a minimum rpm will make the air inside the case moving slowly, wich is bad for passively cooled components, like ram, nvme ssds, motherboard's vrm and chipset etc...

  • @windocats
    @windocats 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Got this case just about a month ago, and I'm really happy with it. The only complaint I have is that you can't mount video cards vertically (unless you modify the case by destroying part of it on purpose). I'd definitely recommend this if you're looking to make your build look better.

    Great video, I have the S340 Elite case and it works great. I upgraded to it from a six year old Antec 900. I do use VR and so the front HDMI and USB 3.0 ports work very well for me, as does the puck for my headset. Only downside is heat, the case does not dissipate heat as well as my Antec, no doubt at least partially because it lacks the monster 200mm top fan that the Antec had. It also has no ventilation on the window side. Nonetheless, I am very satisfied with the case.

  • @augustcelineiii946
    @augustcelineiii946 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have the fans in my case configured just like you do, except believe it or not I was able to squeeze a 280mm radiator for the intake instead of just 240mm. Keep in mind, it just barely fits. Not that it's not secured properly or anything, it does in fact fit, it's just quite the squeeze. I do like how it fills out the space more completely though, and with more cooling I can afford to run the noisy stock corsair fans in quiet mode.

    Just got this case and reading up on optimal fan configurations for cooling. Right now I've got some Corsair ML140's in my workstation build list on Amazon as I progress through the research. Right now I'm thinking, two Corsair 140's in front, I will be using a NZXT Kraken X62 AIO for my i7 8700k and an ML140 exhaust on top as heat rises. Seems like the rear exhaust fan may be "too much" exhaust? I'm thinking I'll just omit the rear fan, but not sure yet?

    The elegance of the Elite cannot be denied. It is the case that brought me back to the PC builder state of mind. Maybe they didn't do the 2 fan top to insure the case would not accidently be run with a negative air pressure configuration by having all 3 rear and top exhausting with only the 2 pulling air in through the narrow front ports.

    You missed out on how difficult it is to add and remove cables from a fully modular PSU. For example, when I upgraded from a 1060 to a 1070, I went from 1 6pin to 2 8pins. Having to dig around and contort my hands to get that connector into the back of the PSU was a nightmare...

    Having the one exhaust on the back and one exhaust on the upper rear of the case sucks air through the front of the case and over the GPU. If they had 2 fans on the top it would pull more air upwards not hitting the GPU as much. Maybe that's why they designed it like this? I think this is the case I'm going to go with for my new build. Any recommendations on what closed loop liquid coolers fit nicely in this case?

  • @Subliminal_Panda
    @Subliminal_Panda 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I actually use that extra flat space on the top as a shelf of sorts. Having room for only four fans also ensures balanced air flow through the case. With 140's at the front, on a radiator, I have slightly positive internal pressure.

    id love to update to the elite case but i very much agree on an additional 120 mm fan on top, i have the base model with the acrylic which isnt too much of a problem but it does scratch very very easy so even a thin piece of tempered glass would be a big upgrade to the base model, and there is room to be able to mount the mobo a bit lower so that way an upper radiator can be installed

    I've had the standard case in white for ages now and aesthetically I like it but building a system in it is tedious let alone making an upgrade as it can get super cramped. I found that my aio cooler radiator couldn't mount high enough to keep any air in the loop from running through the pump. Being able to mount it on the top would have been perfect.

    just finished building a pc in this for a friend and it s fantastic for the price. Building is made simpler and quicker and the overall chassis is just as classy as it is sexy. I do agree another slot for a 120/140 mm fan on top would be cool and i was disappointed that in the black / red version the red parts ( psu shroud and the vertical wire shroud ) are metallic red and sort of contrast the overall discretion of this case which makes it special.

    Completed my first build in one of these (white) cases a couple of months ago and it's a pretty good case to work with
    Never considered the lack of another fan spot up top until you mentioned it but so far so good with my setup
    AMD Ryzen 7 1700 OC to 3.7Ghz
    corsair H60
    nzxt 140mm rgb fan
    msi x370 sli plus
    GTX1080ti SC2
    32GB (2x6GB) 3200MHz G.Skill ripjaw (currently only stable at 2933Mhz)
    Corsair RM850X
    nzxt rgb strips for completing the rgb wank haha

    Do you get any rattle/vibration with the 3.5" drive bays? The reason I went against this case was because I've heard a lot about the metal-on-metal mechanical drive bays creating a noticeable amount of noise. Great video!

    I own a Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TGE and even though I love it, the sheer size of the case and the fact that it's only available in black kinda makes me wanna change it. So I considered the S340 Elite as an alternative but those small things like having only 1 top fan mount are a real dealbreaker for me. If it had 2 fan mounts at the top (radiator compatibility or not) I would have already bought it without a doubt

  • @ryaNNN051
    @ryaNNN051 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The one fan slot looks better than 2 slots and you can put your radiator at the front so its no big deal. I am happy they also haven't followed the trend of the dust-filter at the top of the case because they are ugly when they are the magnetic kind you just slap on the outside. I would like velcro instead of the plastic clips.

    I have this case, and it's very adequate for my needs, although, like you, I feel a 2nd fan would have been nice in the top, as well as perhaps a nice top dust filter, but that's just me. You are limited to only 2 3.5" hard drives, so if you need more than that, you'll want a different case.

      Why would you want a dust cover for a fan mount that nobody in their right mind would use for intake? There's no reason to have a dust filter on outtake. Unless you were liquid cooling, but I don't know enough to be sure if you would ever use that as intake either.

    Having a single exhaust slot on the top was deal break for me, luckily I held out for the Fractal Meshify C... Which I believe is smaller than the S340Elite ;)

    Front mount intake water cooler radiators perform better than top mount, so I personally don't have an issue with the fan setup. You could argue that it would be cooler with an extra fan slot on top but this could cause negative air pressure and people would complain about the case when they figure out they cant mount radiators to the top. I think it was the right decision.

    they did that to force the cold air from the radiator through the case to the back. if they made a second top fan all (most of) the cold intake air from the rad would be sucked right out before it even touch the raam or board. it may seem annoying but the engineering choice behind why they did this was actually smart. ppl dont need that many fans in their cases, they just look nice, and NZXT knows that. even with an air cooler on the cpu that helps the case keep thermals cooler too so again props to them for this choice. gotta see the whole picture man. good design needs to be practical too which is why its a good case. only things they could do better is if they had made a mesh or slot hole on the back side of the case where u wouldn't see it. on the opposite side of the black frame, it would help get more air in but overall still a great case. they could of also made a removable plate below the front area where the radiator would sit so ppl can install bigger/longer rads too and move the HD caddy in the basement over a bit so it would be out the way.

    Personally, I think the Phanteks Enthoo Elite is in a different class of cases. It's in that "enthusiast" class where people are willing to spend more for higher end materials. So size isn't that big of a concern.
    Budget friendly cases in the same market are Phanteks P400, Corair 400C, and half of Fractal Designs cases... but most recently the Meshify C. S340 Elite is great though. It was my go to case for PC builds, but thermals aren't the greatest and now I'm wanting to try out the Meshify.
    I like your vids. I subbed!
