    Eddie Murphy was 23 years old when he shot this movie. He turned down a role in Ghostbusters to do Beverly Hills Cop!

    Harold Faltermeyer wrote the "Axel F" track specifically for this film, so yes they inserted it into the background pretty much everytime Eddie is on screen. Paramount wanted to get their money's worth!...😂😅😊

    Most of the lines spoken by Eddie were improvised or rewritten by him. The film's screenplay was fairly serious originally. Sylvester Stallone was originally attached to the film but left when they decided not to go as dark as he wanted. Stallone ended up using his version of the story as the basis for his film "Cobra".

    The overly comic deaths plus the stormtrooper aim of the hoods has probably a residual effect of the fact that the location for Maitland's house is the same as the mansion at the end of Commando where Arnold S. blows everyone and everything away without a scratch...lmbo

      Damon Wayans specifically in this movie because Eddie wanted to give a young unknown black comic a helping hand. And it helped. Wayans got roles out of this and had a hit movie career for a short while.
      I also bumped into him at the Comedy Store once (1999) and smashed his chest with my elbow and then I made a joke in the audience that made him lose it laughing.
      EDIT - and just wait to see who the young comic he gives a scene to in the sequel is !

    At 16:00 Eddie Murphy laughs at the two people walking down the street because they are wearing the same outfit Eddie Murphy wore in his stand up show called "Raw" It's a classic and I highly recommend it. The theme song is Axel F. (Axel Foley) and was
    written by Harold Faltermeyer for this movie,
    but also became popular on it's own merit. It
    served as the theme for the movie and became
    an international number one hit in 1985.
    Other songs included:
    The Heat Is On - Glenn Frey (opening scene)
    Neutron Dance - The Pointer Sisters (truck chase)
    New Attitude - Patti LaBelle (bar scene)
    Stir It Up - Patti LaBelle (pulling up to hotel)
    All of these were very popular during the period.

      Also, when the Lieutenant says “take him to the city limits”, does he mean Beverly Hill city limits ? Because that’s only a handful of city blocks from the department, being as Beverly Hills Police Dept. area is tiny.
      First place I lived in Los Angeles was nice international hotel (Sofitel next to Beverly Center) in 1996 that was $148.50/night. I was there for 5 months. A local call to get on dialup was $1.19 each call (normal price back then was 10¢-20¢). Room service too. Luckily, the bill was not on me. $10.5k when I checked out and it took them several hours to print the bill.

    Hello Mike, great to see you and the very lovely Jessica!😊 I was looking forward to some of Jessica's laughter for this one, although I know some of the comedy is subtle. The main theme to the film was made by Harold Faltermeier and is titled "Axel F" standing for Axel Foley.😉 The music video for the song has clips from the film. Those two black and red leather clad people walking down the sidewalk are a callback to when Eddie Murphy wore a similar outfit in his 1983 stand up special "Delirious". It was indeed influenced by Michael Jackson. The guy that gives Axel the bananas is a cameo by a young unknown actor Damon Wayans, part of the famous Wayans family. I have seen the 4th film recently, "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F" (2024). It aired on a popular streaming network. No spoilers other than Eddie Murphy looks half his age, and the soundtrack is very good. "Beverly Hills Cop III" (1994) is generally considered the weakest film. Great reactions by you and Jessica for your very first Beverly Hills Cop film, Mike!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    @7:15 Jess I find it’s superior in the effect as it’s all practical, the double trailer link actually surprised me as it makes for a crazier chase yet will take high speed corners better than a full size single long container, probably why they chose it, also quite the shot where it’s pulled out enough to conceal the stuntman’s face for those wild hang on moments and I just have to also say what’s so nuts about this is yes some crazy real world chases and destruction has happened but if you look at the damage and mayhem being caused even most real criminals wouldn’t even do this for a getaway lol.
    @11:48 Prophecies of Bosstrodamus revealed!
    @15:11 For this and many other Eddie Murphy characters is a trademark of high energy fast talking bullshit to misdirect from being detected easily as a con
    @16:01 I can never tell if Axel’s character is laughing because he was just bsing about an interview with Michael Jackson, or if he just thinks they look ridiculous despite the fashion being very in at the time.

    He’s the perfect casting of soft spoken, mild mannered and straight edged type yet a bit more to him for being coaxed into some rule breaking, also known for Seinfeld as the creepy close talker.

    @46:44 Bit of a Blues Brothers moment here, if you haven’t seen it yet, you’ll get what I mean when you do

    Perhaps you would've enjoyed this movie more had you seen it in the theater with a crowd who picked up on all the humor, probably shouldn't watch anymore Eddie movies because this was one of his absolute best, along with a lot of other bangers, but they're similar in humor, good luck though. 🤔

    • @BossMovieReactions

      Yeah, nothing beats the theater experience, but it was a fun movie and I can see why it was so successful back in the 80s. Thanks for watching! (:

    Hence the expression the banana in the tailpipe lol. So hey, have you ever thought about hiring an editor? I've read they can be from 15-50 per hour, but some of the professionals might do 375 per vid. Obviously thats all a lot. But I know you bust your butt and it takes a lot of time, so it "could" be worth it if you're trying to get out and do other things. You really do a SUPERB job. I really mean that. Just offering a suggestion if you feel like sometimes it's too much work

    • @BossMovieReactions
      @BossMovieReactions  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, first of all, thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, the thought of having someone edit for us did cross my mind, but there's no way that we could afford it and no way that they could do it the way we want it to be done. I hate "tooting" my own horn, but the amount of time I invest in editing and fixing the sound is a bit crazy. It easily takes me 30-40+ hours to edit one video. Even if I'd only pay $20/h, that would be $700 per video ($2,800 per month). I don't know what we're going to to in the future, but for now, we just keep at it. Thanks for watching! (:

    Does Jessica understand that this is supposed to be a comedy? Or does she just not like Eddie Murphy? She didn’t seem into it.

      Haha, well, as far as I know, she likes Eddie Murphy and she certainly knew it was a comedy. But she did LAUGH much harder yesterday when we recorded our reaction to Mrs. Doubtfire. So, who knows? Thanks for watching, Harley.

    Reaction videos are the welfare of TH-cam but I guess it beats working for a living.

    • @BossMovieReactions
      @BossMovieReactions  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, well, you should consider that it can take between 35 - 55 hours to create ONE single video, which can result in at least 10 hours a day if you're trying to upload one video a week. Then you add all the work we do as filmmakers, the development phase, pre-production, production, post-production, plus marketing, promoting, networking, auditions, acting classes, coaching, etc. There's a lot more, but I assume you get the point, yes? Anyway, most people have no idea what it takes to pull something like this off, and that's okay, how could they know, right? So, I understand. All I can say is, thanks for watching, we appreciate it! (:
