It shouldn’t. Have you ever driven a 3900lb car ? Driving a manual boat isn’t the greatest imo. I’m always for manual but this next gen needed dct and awd. They’re as big and heavy as old 6/7 series
@@5abivt Motortrend weighed the new M3 comp with bucket seats and carbon ceramic brakes and it weighed 40kg less than the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. So you can expect this M3 with the lighter manual gearbox and heavier seats and brakes to weigh identical to the Giulia, if not a smidge less.

I’ve driven almost every manual bmw there’s ever been other than the rare ones. The only car that had me obsessed after driving it was the e90 generation m3, a month ago i bought one myself and i couldn’t care less how much heavier or slower it was it had the soul. This is a great video that shows that feeling even for people who can’t feel it themselves.
For me it's the e46 csl, that was such a physical, visceral experience typically reserved for much smaller and lighter cars.
I recently purchased a 335d which honestly has similar figures to the m3 and I absolutely love it. No V8 sounds but I get the big turbo whistle 😂
Your thought about a 325i e90 ? Performance? handling? compared to the m3?

@@krspykreame1 Not just similar figures, I'd bet it's faster than the M3. That being said, you can't begin to understand how much less character it has than the M3. Drive the two back to back, and you'll see exactly what I mean.

@@effa114 It's less pretentious than Top Gear. Both shows are/were great, just with different demeanors. The camerawork will take a bit more to come to Top Gear levels, though, which is understandable considering the budget differences.

Drove my '09 M3 as a daily for 6 years. Absolutely love the car! So much connection, so planted and confident. Drive my F80 as a daily now, but still bring out the e90 for the most fun.

I scanned the comments before mentioning the CEL light. I assumed Thomas broke it while he was vigorously worshipping the almighty M3.
This video really conveys how special the E90 m3 is. That S65 motor is just emotional. Turbo engines, although quicker ,just don't give the same feeling of sheer joy.
That isn’t exactly true. The 2016 BMW 340i was pretty damn special and felt more enjoyable than my naturally aspirated 323i.

Nah that’s personal. I’ve driven these but you have to rev the snot out of them to move and I just don’t like that for a weekend warrior. I gets my kicks out of in-line 6 engines with turbos and open wastegates, preferably big single turbo ones as in the Supra I own. They still make their power way quicker, and really sound like a jet.
Still in love with the e90. Absolutely LOVE that car. For a true driving enthusiast, it’s such an amazing DD.
The V8 M3 just hits different. Sure it’s not that fast but my goodness the sound and insane redline is enough for me!

A 2008 is pretty easy to retrofit with the newer idrive, which gets you a high res display and bluetooth audio. Also lets you install one of the Chinese carplay/android auto retrofit kits.
Dammit, I think I've accepted the grill. The new M3 looks great in that spec (especially in manual).
Love the manual V8 though too.
After watching a few videos, I’ve come to the realisation that the grill doesn’t look so bad as long as there is a front number plate

the Q60 is due for a refresh in the next year or so but the engine is a nice sample of whats

The E90 is still me favorite M3.
The sedan or coupe? There was a hard top convertible too. 4 series wasn’t a thing yet. E46 had more aggression- less rounded more old style Bmw. If it had a v8 would have been a thing to remember.

@@vambat3523 speaking from experience here. Keep working and keep your eye on the prize. You will 100% get it if you save and be smart. $15 an hr at 14 is a goldmine. You can be decently rich by the time ur 18 if you save most of your money.

If anything, this video just makes me want an E90 M3 even more. Beautiful sound, amazing looks, surprisingly practical.... Someday.
This is often overlooked, but the "carbon leather" in the E90 generation is actually a unique leather STAMPED with a carbon fiber pattern. You'll never see anything like it before or after. It's always either fake carbon fiber paint, plastic imitation, or on the opposite end, real carbon fiber. The fact they bothered to stamp the pattern to give it that unique aesthetic should tell all you need to know about BMW's attention to detail at the time.
If only that attention to detail went into more important things like less plastic junk in the engine bay. *sigh
@@mtadc1545the “plastic junk” you’re referring to is the air intake system (plenum and air box) which needs to be plastic so it does not heat soak. Also saves weight
@@ChewbaccaFetus the plastic junk I’m referring to are: Coolant expansion tanks (which explode), thermostats housings, water pump impellers, hose connectors and other parts in the cooling system. I’ve owned 3 of them and I’ve worked on them, stripped the engines out etc. They’re great fun to drive but have really weak quality parts.

I’ve rewatched this a few times and after 10 years of E92 ownership - I love the fox red leather, I replaced the start/stop button, did an Apple car upgrade and I will never ever sell this again (again). I sold it and bought it back after and F80. Also - no creaks and rattles and the 2013. Great video. The first one was a garage queen. Second purchase - drove cross country twice

I would love to see a generational review and TH take on the m3. Just cause it’s such an iconic brand and yea it’s been done a few times notably the one by everyday driver but id like it from a perspective of someone so passionate about M cars. Someone who owns one too! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
This makes me miss my E9X. Such a balanced car. Mine was a fully loaded, space grey metallic one with oyster interior. I traded it in for a base model VW Golf as i needed something more economical.

I love the e90 m3. My friend who was a race instructor at Las Vegas exotic race way used to have one. I had a big turbo sti at the time and we used to mess around and swap cars all the time. His motor popped at 100k miles though due to the rod bearing issue.
I got my e92 M3 since 2012....and.....I'm still in love!

I have a (lightly modified) E92 M3, an R8 V10, and an F-Type R...and the M3 provides me just as much joy as the two cars making nearly 600HP. Absolute gem of a car.
