    Well, after weeks of work and troubleshooting, the fender conversion from my stock FXDF, to the chopped FXDWG, is complete. Listed below are the H-D part #'s, as well as descriptions of other parts I needed to complete this mod.
    Gloss black rear fender - H-D part # - 60519-10DH
    Fender support cover RH/LH - H-D part # - 59461-10/59459-10
    Spacer for support cover (x2) - H-D part # - 11896
    Inner support bracket (x2) - 60936-10
    LED edge light kit - H-D part # - 73416-11
    TC Bros side mount license plate - sku # - 107-0006 - amzn.to/2IQueBM
    TC Bros shock mount bracket - sku # - LP109UN -
    amzn.to/2A5hq7u
    Custom Dynamics LED license plate bolts - amzn.to/2QET6Pw
    I used 16 gauge wire for splicing the turn signals and license plate bolt lights to the stock wiring harnesses. I also used a soldering iron, and solder to do the splicing. I also protected the splices with heat shrink.
    0:00 Intro and Setup
    1:50 Fender Removal
    7:04 New Fender Install
    13:08 Wiring and Side Plate Mount Install
    17:20 End Result (Side-by-side compare)

      Yeah, I was telling another person that the stock fender started to grow on me, but I've had this vision of the chopped fender in my mind since I bought the bike, and am happy with the result. Thanks for watching and take care!

    Thanks for the video. I just swapped the fender on my 2017 Fat Bob. Your video and a lot of additional research made the project very smooth. Start to finish on a Saturday morning. Just ordered the 2010/11 FXDWG stock sissy bar to complete the look.

  • @jetleeroy33

    Great job!
    Is that particular fender the only H-D fender that will fit outside of the stock Fat Bob fender?
    I'm personally a fan of the regular Dyna full fender but I'm thinking it won't fit on a Fat Bob because the rear tire is too big?

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I've never checked any of the other fenders, I just knew I liked the look of the Wide Glide, so that's what I went with. I don't know if the H-D site still does it, but I made sure the fitment was good before I did this. Dealers weren't much help, as I seemed to get a different answer from every person I talked to about this.

    Looks so much better than the stock fender. The stock fender is maybe the main thing that's keeping me from buying this bike. I wish they came stock with that bobbed fender, since I don't have a work space or the mechanical skills to do such a modification myself :)

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The stock fender is an acquired taste, I think. It started to grow on me, but I was still all-in for this mod. If you end up getting a FXDF and decide to make the change, let me know how it goes, or if you have any questions!

    Hey loved the video.. ...i'm about to do this mod.. just waiting for inner strut brackets..I talked to another guy that did this mod and he's not getting a open switch light on his bike... did you ever figure out what's causing that? He is also using the daytime running lights on his.. one more question did you use your factory turn signal in the rear? I heard the little extenders are bigger than the wideglide so you have to replace them too

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was the harness under the seat. It had to be swapped out. The H-D part # on the work order was 70025-11. I used the factory turn signals, but the stand-offs were slightly larger, and never quite fit correctly, but I made them work. Good luck, and let me know how it goes! :D

    • @mikgto68
      @mikgto68 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thatoneguymoto ....you used the chopped fender brake light? Sounds like you might need a load resistor ... hannums told me there was no harness for that application and I was better off using the board on the fatbob and just extending the wires...

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fender brake light is the H-D LED Edge light kit listed in the description. If you can get everything to work and not have the indicator come on, that would be ideal. I tried the load resistor, but I couldn't get anything to work. I'll just say, if you know what you need to do, go for it and see if it works. Looking forward to hearing how it goes! :D

    Great job on the fender mod and video production. I just picked up a 2013 Fat Bob and want to order the parts from your list. Did you just use your local HD dealer? Can you provide the source for the parts list? There’s another guy on TH-cam that’s selling a complete unpainted bolt on kit for $975 with plug and play light kit. Would you have considered this option if you could do it all over again? His light kit has an integrated light bar that has signal flashers in the same unit. Thanks for your input and great video(s). Subscriber for life. Ride on!

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can definitely use your local H-D dealer, with the part #'s I provided. I used Surdyke Harley (now Gold Star Harley), because they have a discount for all their parts online.
      In hindsight, I don't think I would have done much differently. I really wanted to do it all myself, not because I don't trust anyone else, but it was a way to really get to know my motorcycle, and I'm one of those people who enjoy the sense of satisfaction after finishing something like this.
      I really appreciate the sub! Ride safe!

    • @thatoneguymoto
      @thatoneguymoto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Street Bob rear fender wasn't a perfect match and would've required spacers, so I went with the Wide Glide. as the distance from the tire, I don't think it would've made a huge difference.

      It was around $650-700. That's including the FXDLS solo saddle. I was really patient in making sure I found good prices for all of the pieces, too, so if you just wanted to do this without deal searching, it'd probably be closer to $1,000.
