    Just got the car, both airbag lights are on. Code says 1st level pass airbag resist. Last test completed. Unsuccessfully present requested.
    Just shows 2 airbag lights on and says to see handbook, but i do not have one. Changing door handle tomorrow, so a huge thank you for that video

      Handbook won’t be of any use whatsoever. It’ll just tell you to go to fiat and get dine! Need to get multiecuscan on it.

    I got exact the same problems and warning lights. A local autoshop couldn’t fix the problem so I went to Fiat that told me they had to change the speedo and the airbag module, and then it should be recoded. Fiat would charge me around 1350 pounds for that in Denmark! At the moment I have ordered a second hand speedo and an airbag module from Germany, as it will save me about half the price. I will then fit those myself and get Fiat to do the recoding in the end. Hopefully I will save a bit in the end. By the way - very good and helpfull channel for Fiat 500 owners 👍

      I do these all the time bu never came across this problem. If the ECU is broken, normally changing for a replacement sorts it which is what I was expecting. Speedo or ECU doesn’t need coding. You will just have to do a proxy alignment to stop the mileage flashing.

    I have a 2012 fiat 500c lounge an it does samething but only does it when cars half warmed up along with transmission light. I haven't found out what's causing it

      Have your watched the video? You will see that it could be one of many things. Only diagnostics will give you a clue.

    Evening my daughters car has exact same lights suddenly on.
    Did you say it could be battery related as she’s been on holday and car has been idle for 10 days then only driven around the corner or so in last 4 days so little use in 14days.
    How do we check if it’s anything to do with the battery voltage issue you mention?
    Dodgy earth ?
    Should I take battery off and on etc?
    Any help appreciated.
    Just drive around the clock and seat belt light stayed on Constantly too

      Yes most likely battery or main earth strap. I would take the car somewhere that sells batteries snd get them up put a meter on it. That will tell you the health not just the output of the battery. Earth strap can also cause problems like you describe. See my how to videos for that. Get battery checked first.

    Hi I've have mileage flashing on my fiat 500 don't think can perform a proxi alignment with a scanner. Were did you get your diagnostic format from and was it easy to load im not very good with computers was it expensive .great channel Thanks

      You can download the software from www.multiecuscan.net It's 50 Euros. You need a set of cables. I would recommend buying a set from one of the recommended suppliers on the MES website rather than the cheap ones on eBay. It's pretty easy to load, you just need to set it up in the Comm Port set up. There are plenty of guides on how to do it on the website. I always plug it in, boot the computer, once the computer is running, unplug the USB and plug it in, then launch the software. That normally does the trick. If you go onto the Fiat Forum there may well be someone near you that can plug it in for you for free. I've done several for people. Flashing mileage may be a problem with another ECU though. Are you having trouble with anything else? It could also be sign of a dodgy battery.

      Using MultiECUScan those codes don’t really mean anything to me as it tells you in plain English. What’s the actual fault?

      You need to get the module out. The number is printed on the top of it.

    Handy bit of software is it readily available? and i'm guessing you need an USB to OBD II Port cable ?

      nifnaf paddywack it’s available for 50 euros from www.multiecuscan.net. You can buy a good quality set of cables from their trusted suppliers on their site or a cheap set from eBay.

    I`ve recently had a similar issue with my 2012 twinair, drove it round the back of the house to wash it without the seatbelt on, as I got round the back, the same lights had come on, & when I restarted it, fuel cut off was coming up as unavailable (start stop didn't come up though) & the mileage started flashing. I did an OBD scan, nothing came up, I put a new battery, didn't make a difference. Also, since then, the heater temp display will flash occasionally for 5-10 seconds.
    My car has always suffered with damp from a leak I`ve not yet found, so I`m wondering if any of the ECU`s/airbag/seatbelt plugs are suffering from corrosion (the seat runners are), so I`m intending to take them all out & clean them with a toothbrush & electrical cleaner at some point. The MOT`s up in a couple of months, so I need to get on with it...
    I`ve also got a weird issue with the stereo, it turns on every time you start the car, whether you had it on or off when you turned it off, then you turn it off, then it comes on again 5 seconds later.. Strange, but just a minor irritation..

      Where’s the leak? If your scuttle panel drains are blocked water will get in and drip into the airbag ECU frying it.

      @@Love500 Yeah, no, I`ve checked & cleared the duck bills, the leak seems to be from the back of the car more than the front.

      @@Love500 Its not pooling anywhere in particular, its just there in the form of constant damp, so it gets a lot of condensation when its rainy, theres surface rust on the seat runners etc.. It was repaired salvage in the past, I suspect theres some seam sealer missing, or a gap somewhere, which I`ve not found yet (its not glass/light/door/mirror seals etc, I`ve been through theem), I need to strip the entire interior to try to locate it, but its just a case of making the time.

    Am sure you'll have a bid on the car if appears for auction. Worth more to you to try and solve it. If you get and it beats even you, am sure you'll break it and at least not make a loss. 👍

      Alex Dalgleish thats exactly what I was thinking. My money is on the passenger bag. I expect they’ll stick it through the normal auctions though, rather than Copart.

    Would this cause a battery drain the same as the blue and me module does?

      Anything electrical can cause a parasitic drain but the blue and me is by far the most common. I’m not aware of anything else that is known to cause it apart from a faulty BCM. I’m not aware of an airbag module causing it.

      @Love500 thanks for the reply got an abarth with same symptoms as above with the air bag faults but it has an aftermarket head unit fitted I'm wondering if the blue and me failed and is still plugged in?

      @@chriselse515 I think that’s the most likely thing. If you just want to unplug it, you can bend the panel back on the rear seatbelt bolt and get your hand in to disconnect it. Saves chancing breaking the bolt.

      Have you run diagnostics? There are so many things it could be. Recently and bizarrely I have discovered that the brake switch being faulty can bring up a fuel cut off unavailable error. £10 on eBay. Worth a try.

      If you’ve watched the video you will see that it could be one of many things. You need fiat specific diagnostics to find out. Multiecuscan will most likely tell you otherwise it’s a visit to the dealer and play parts roulette. It can be anything from battery, earth strap, brake pedal switch, clockspring or airbag ECU. A simple proxy alignment might do the trick but without proper diagnostics it’s pure guesswork.

      @@Love500 I accidentally disconnected my ankle from the seat and the exact same problem icons appeared: AirBag fuel cut and start stop also not working.

      @@stanislawzaba1209 if you're saying you have caught your foot on the plugs/cables below the seat you may have pulled a plug our or damaged the wires. Disconnect the earth of the battery, unplug the three (drivers side) plugs, inspect the wires and plug them back in, reconnect the battery and see if its OK.

    Most likely replace the ORC module and airbag module and things will be fine. Had this problem with 2 Abarth's I owned.

    Hi, I have a similar issue with my fiat 2010 1.2
    It happened twice, that I walked towards the car after it was parked for a few hours, to find all the dashboard lights on and all kinds of error being displayed. I couldn't start the car. It wouldn't even crank. It would activate radio, city button, and the entire dashboard. The second time it happened after I jet washed the car. When I got the key out of the ignition the dashboard lit up all the errors and messages.
    The only way I could get to shut off, would be to press the brake. Whenever I would press the brakes, it would turn everything off. I used a Delphi and wurth software to diagnose, and it came back with 13 errors int bcm, 2 errors in the infotainment , 2 errors in the Instrument cluster, and 1 unknown code in the airbag module. All the errors were connected to lack or lost communication, mainly airbag module and rear parking sensors. I also have 1 code regarding intermittent brake switch.
    All errors can be deleted, but as soon as you take the key out of ign the Christmas lights are on.
    When I press the brake, and lights go off I can hear a click which I can also feel by hand In a module behind the centre console, which I identified on ebay as being the airbag module.
    I am loosing my mind over this issue, it's the only car we have and I can't seem to get it to work properly.
    What I have done up to know is to check the fuses in the dash, which were Ok.
    Next I plan to try to replace the brake switch and to solder the wires in the boot harness, as the wiper and the rear defrost do not work. I am thinking that maybe those wires are broken and touching each other maybe feeding live current back to the bcm. If you have any advice, or you think any of my ideas is not worth trying, I would be so grateful for any feedback. I have a video on my channel with the issue as it happened.       zing zing I would say all of those issues are down to the hatch during. The wires touching and shifting can do permanent damage to the body control module. I would disconnect the battery and not use it until you have repaired the wiring. You can get kits on eBay for about £40 from Germany. You will need a cable crimper too.

      @@zingzing5077 I would for now. The switch is really only there to make the brake lights come on. They can get stuck if someone has really slammed the brakes on. If you take it out, by just twisting it and removing the electrical connection, you can then get a pair of pliers on the nipple end and pull, it will then reset. If it keeps doing it, just get a new one but I would certainly do the hatch wiring first.

      Justin yes, steering normally fails first but ECUs can be very sensitive to voltage changes. I ruled that out straight away.

    Mine has just done this I was messing with the radio and also the cigarette lighter as it was connected properly now it won’t start an days fuel cut off I just don’t know what to do will never buy a fiat again

      You need diagnostics, all cars will break down if you mess with them if you don’t know what your3 doing.

    I have this problem on my 2011 500 abarth, car is driving perfectly otherwise....brought it to fiat dealership, he just rang me and said the airbag ecu cant be got bcoz those cars are made in poland and the ukraine war is making it impossible to get the part....il have to just drive around illegally for a few months i think...

      It might not be the ECU. I wouldn’t trust what a main stealer say. If it is, you can get one on eBay.

    Biggest mistake you made was proxi alignment with MES with faulty airbag control unit. At that point you configured proxi data without airbag controller.

      I mean that's why you ended up with no airbag light on the dash etc. Proxi alignment a second time with the next airbag unit in did not repair your proxi data hence your faults and situation. If you save the proxi data first with AVDI or similar then you will see. When proxi doesn't work with the used module in, restore original proxi with AVDI and then tell me it doesn't matter. Another poster is trying to help you understand how the module in this vehicle is coded to its side impact sensors etc but you know better. You will learn, this system is not quite like most. LMAuto did a good video on this subject. Just as a side note, I'm repairing one of those airbag ECUs as we speak. I'm trying to help, just like the other guy.

    It looks to me like you really have airbag controller fault.No communication suggest there is internal can/van transmiter fault.You can not just simply plug in used ecu and do proxi.on those newer cars this unit has to have epfrom data transfered.Each airbag and pretensioners have numbers coded to control unit.That why you have all those faults. Mechanics life is getting harder and harder.Good luck

      It's only ones with crash data that need files copied. As long as you get one with the same number it works fine. The problems with these went deeper. The first thing I did was change the ECU for another which should have worked and usually does. You can also swap out airbagts and pre-tensioners too. Have done it loads of times without issue.

      Agree.If you change airbags and pretensioners this will work.had coule those cases an alfas.The same logic.Was cheaper and less hassle to transfer data.Had interesting problem recently. fiat 500. No any register faults in any can/van component.Good communication.Airbag light on. new instrument cluster solved problem.

    I have the same problem on an 08 Fiat 500, and have just been told that the airbag ECU is no longer available, so when its MOT is due, no more car. 55K miles on the clock :(

      This seems to be the cheapest one on eBay at the moment. Mileage will flash and will need a proxy alignment after changing.
