I appreciate your approach of teaching.. To my understanding this just proves how much we need an edge as investors because playing the market like everyone else just isn’t good enough, we just need to hold onto our hopes and wait to see how things turn out because market movements are almost always unpredictable. In my portfolio, I'm noticing more red than green. I'm 47, and earn nothing less $150k per year, but nothing to show for it yet

    • @Stephenfanos37
      @Stephenfanos37 ปีที่แล้ว

Since the crash, I've been in the red. I’m playing the long term game, so I'm not too worried but Jim Cramer mentioned there are still a lot of great opportunities, though stocks has been down a lot. I also heard news of a guy that made $250k from about $110k since the crash and I would really look to know how to go about this.

There's a small problem with some of the Marcellus investments; Asianpaints, Nestle, Pidilite or Titan has not grown at a 20% PAT CAGR. What has grown at 25-30% CAGR is the stock price. The actual profit growth of these companies in the last decade is a little less than 15%. Like it happened in the case of ITC, someday market will realize this and a 5 year stock under performance will follow. No doubt the companies will continue to do good.

Saurabh, this is great contribution and I am personally delighted that you spread hope, knowledge and prosperity. This also helps people in trusting Indian companies because there is a craze to invest in US stocks... most people do not understand what happens there and get carried away with some few stocks that are dong well.

Sirji, in case you get 30% ROI every year let alone chappal company, even garbage management company is worthy of praise. India is the only country where chappal selling company is listed and operates at such large volumes. Indian investors should make use of such unique companies and not always look to invest in traditional companies.

This comment is genuinely out of gratitude and respect that I have for Saurabh, he is someone I don’t just hear but very keenly listen to. The first letters my search engine on TH-cam is Saurabh Mukherjea 😅 thanks to him and Marcellus that I have finally started seeing my portfolio in Green, my portfolio for a very long time looked like the Chinese communist party flag ( it was all Red) 😅
Keep being the guiding star to people like us. Thank you again.
PS this is the most compressed gratitude message I could have written for the man I have so much of respect for also I totally loved reading Coffee Can Investing 👍

It seems Saurabh is yet to read about Nifty Fifty companies of the USA which had strikingly similar characteristics like High Cash flow High Growth High PE, but in the next 40 years they underperformed the S&P index.
    Quoting Charles T Munger verbatim:
No matter how wonderful the company is, it's not worth an infinite price. So we have to have a price that makes sense and gives a margin of safety considering the natural vicissitudes in life.
No doubt some companies like Asian paints, pidilite etc will continue to grow, but paying up will lead to time wise correction in these stocks rather than permanent loss of capital.

Thanks for insight. Differ with you regarding shift in agriculture. American model of agriculture have failed for the common citizen & farmers ,though it may have benefited corporate. Pl understand , we have emotional connect with land. It's not just another business. Agriculture needs reforms but the way being planned . Need to give better price to farmers and diversification.

There is flaw in the logic of 20% underlying earnings compounding and hence stock price will go up by 20%.. Firstly very few co grow earnings 20% every year.. secondly when Page lost its growth momentum a few years ago, such stocks fall like crazy and these people will exit saying oh monopoly power is fading etc etc etc. So such kind of very focussed investing has its own flaws.. Otherwise good stuff.. Thanks for sharing.

Its great to listen to him. But not sure whether his thesis works. If you would have bought the stocks he recommend on the next day of this video, below are the returns as of today (2 years) absolute
    Asian paint - 7.26%
    Relaxo minus 21%
    Hdfc bank - 1%
    Bajaj finance - 3.05%
    Nestle - 13.35%
    Tcs - minus 7%
    Nifty - 16.16%
Most of these monopoly's moat is already priced and are trading at 70-80+ PE and profit growth is around 15%. If you got it at the bottom these might give a 15% cagr. And Marcellus keeps selling some of these stock as well.

I'd like to argue about banks. When psus close, the segment doesn't move to big banks(Hdfc). The segment will always voew these banks as expensive and out of reach. Instead, these customers shift to local such as Nkgsb, Bandhan Bank, etc.
