  • It technically works. But I wanted automation. A few more things to try before I go back to drip feeding like a savage. :)

One thing you’ve given me from all these videos David is that I will just stick with my webastardo powered water heater and run it on heating oil. I’ve been holding on to some waste oil but time to take it to the recycling centre I think. Great content as always!

Another excellent video giving me good ideas on my future waste oil burner.

Please, please, please don't give up! My workshop is big and cold all year round (very cold during the winter) and I really need someone to get this working so I don't have to spend £1'000's on a industrial unit. Diesel heaters and log burners are all well and good, but waste oil is free and plentiful. Reading some of the specs. the lift height seems to be a function of input air pressure, have you tried running higher pressure, but with flow restrictor on the air? What if (as suggested in the comments) you placed the burner tube horizontally (with a tapered nozzle) into the bottom side of the burn chamber, this will allow the flame to swirl before exiting the chimney. I'm not convinced about the pipe with holes in, I can't see what benefit that will have.

I'm working on using a diesel heater burner for a forge/foundry. Using an I/0 both positions timed with board for pump...we will c when I put it together, just need a lil time.

You are getting water from your compressor, as it compresses air it condenses water out of the air. That's what's making the fire crackle. A friend way back in the 80's ended up mounting a oil tank above a wood stove and dripped oil in after he got a good fire going to heat his shop. That's what I'm going to do. Even the commercial oil burners are fussy. I have come to work many times to a cold shop because they quit working.

Like I said in comments of yours past video everything is very simple about burning waste oils. Oil spray must have a temp about 60 celzius. You can do everything that you want to make this...heating oil in the oil tank or with a inline flow heater. For first testing it is better to mount your nozzle in horizontally position and out of the stove. Put a nozzle at the end of tube whith larger diameter then swirler for about 1cm ( 0.5cm space gap between swirler and the tube). This gap is for passing the secondary air from fan which is mounted behind the nozzle. For automatization it is easiest to buy a cheap LOA24 controller with a flame sensor. You will also need 2 solenoid valves, one for oil and other for the primary air from compressor...For oil and air you will also need a regulators. I think that you have enough experience to solve potential problems that will arise. Good luck and you make another great video without orange...

I have lots of devices with external 20A or 30A relays using NC and then use the Shelly to trip them off in case a reset is needed.

A log fire sounds much more pleasant, and you coudl just use the oil to light said fire anyway, so still getting some use out of it I guess... :P

ive been trying this for 5+ years, ive tried a spray can filled with oil but was just too hot, best ive found (as of last week) was one of the torpedo kerocene heaters, havnt had anything work so well by turning the pump up and running a external glow plug. what ignition coil are you using ?

What about building a reflector from a stainless pan. When the ciramic reflector goes out on a American moble home furnace, it will smoke
