    if you wanted to fix fogging you could of potentially had the tube go into the mask and add small holes in the tube as a way breath out/away from the lens or you could of poked a few holes in the air filter on the front

      I did all of that stuff, still didn't work.

    You could eliminate the fog problem by putting a nose cone in the mask!
    The nose cone is the rubber bit you see on the inside of gas masks like the Israeli Civilian Mask (to provide a cheap 30 dollar example off the top of my head.) Its a comfortable and convenient solution, and you could ether salvage the parts for it off of an Israeli civilian mask from eBay (doesn’t matter if it’s used, so long as it creates an air seal) or you could try to make your own stand in out of foam!

    • @QuantumLeapCosplay
      @QuantumLeapCosplay  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually (I cut this part out when editing), if I were to redo this thing, which I am, someone commissioned me to make one a couple days ago, I was gonna try putting a wire mesh frame on the breathing filter.
      The fogging of the lenses was something I failed to consider when first making this helmet. But then again, I've only ever made one other helmet and it wasn't completely closed.

    What did you use for gluing the helmet together? I’ve tried using superglue which works pretty well but when I finished forming the two halves it left a lot of jagged edges and there was a lot of space between the two

    • @QuantumLeapCosplay
      @QuantumLeapCosplay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Contact cement, baby! Works wonders on foam.
      I usually only use superglue for really tiny pieces like rhinestones, but that’s just me.

      Yeah, I wanted to do that too, but I wasn't in a position to do so at the time.
      Get them LED strips, wrap them in packaging foam to diffuse the light, then tape/glue them to the inside of the lenses on the foam there.

    Could you possibly make a tutorial on how to make the over coat? I’m not willing to buy a 200$ premade coat

    • @QuantumLeapCosplay
      @QuantumLeapCosplay  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My original intent was, but not only was the coat kinda crude (I'm extremely new to sewing) but the whole video was more or less repeating the same thing and would get boring.
      I'll probably make the coat again, though. Maybe that will make a video, we'll see.

    • @QuantumLeapCosplay
      @QuantumLeapCosplay  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll tell you this, though.
      I bought a pre-made pattern for a woman's trench coat for like, $2. I modified that pattern to make it look more like the coat you see in the video. The coat is made of synthetic linen (real linen is expensive asf) and I used a sewing machine to stitch it up.

    • @doomslayerishere9077

      You could go to goodwill/Your local thrift store and get a coat for like 2-6 Dollars and if it doesn’t have the flaps and everything just get some fabric and sew it on

    Hey, first time viewer and *potential* cosplayer. I was wondering if this could also work with a gas mask and a motorcycle helmet rather than foam and cardstock. Also, love the vids (as well as the puns).

    • @QuantumLeapCosplay
      @QuantumLeapCosplay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes, you have to work with what you have. I've always (literally always) made something from scratch if I could help it, so I wouldn't know for sure if a gas mask in conjunction with a motorcycle helmet could work, but you can certainly give it a shot. You have to start somewhere.
      My first cosplay was McCree from Overwatch, and almost everything I wore was store-bought apparel.

    Hi Quantum, I’m trying to build this and the Anti-Materiel Rifle myself, is there any way I can get the measurements for the pieces and stuff?

    • @QuantumLeapCosplay
      @QuantumLeapCosplay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The rifle is 57 inches long; I used the length of the actual real-life rifle it's based off of to get that length.
      As for the helmet, I did literally everything by trial and error, but I will tell you this.
      Measure the distance between your eyes and use that length for the pentagon's total width. That's how I started. From there, it's all trial and error.

      Actually, I just duct tape the tubing to the foam strap on the back of my head, but that was because I didn't have time.

    Do you know how to get the ranger coat or how to make it

    • @QuantumLeapCosplay
      @QuantumLeapCosplay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I made it using synthetic linen. You can also use real linen (though it’s expensive), canvas, burlap, or synthetic leather.
      I took a woman’s trench coat pattern, modified it, and stitched all the pieces together with a sewing machine. I highly recommend getting a sewing machine, it’ll save you a TON of time.
      You can also hire someone on Etsy to make one for you if you don’t want to tackle the task of making one yourself.

    Are foam helmets flimsy?

    • @QuantumLeapCosplay
      @QuantumLeapCosplay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on your definition of flimsy.
      Obviously, they wouldn't function as gear to protect your head, but for its intend purpose (like going to conventions while wearing it), its toughness is adequate.
      You can soak the foam in casting resin or wrap it in worbla go give it a hard shell if you like. I typically don't, but you may be more comfortable with a stronger costume piece that I would.
