Hi, my name is Tina and I'm a data scientist at a FAANG company. I was pre-med studying pharmacology at the University of Toronto until I finally accepted that I would make a terrible doctor. I didn't know what to do with myself so I worked for a year as a research assistant for a bioinformatics lab where I learned how to code and became interested in data science. I then did a masters in computer science (MCIT) at the University of Pennsylvania before ending up at my current job in tech :)

I actually used your get job to get job advice and ended up as Data Analyst at a pretty big company in a very short amount of time too. I would have taken a job as a data analyst anywhere but to be picked up by the biggest global brand in the world is amazing. I wanted so badly to get out of human resources and I did it! Thank you for providing great content. I have "Do The One Thing" written at the top of my journal.. Whenever I feel scattered and don't know what to work on.. I look at it and think, "What do I need to do"? Your advice has definitely changed my life! I wish you all the best.

Since you worked on those large companies, I am sure you have the full knowledge of their requirements and skills needed to get accepted in them
I mean why not create a course that gathers both the knowledge and skills needed with your own style?
Honestly, I absolutely love your illustration of productivity, goals/dreams and the necessity of aspiring to both. I've explained this concept to many people but not as succinct as you did. It is a HUGE leap to quit a MAANG company to pursue your own endeavors, but I also think it's a big reason people get into those companies in the first place. It is the aspirations that lead them there and it is once again their aspirations that lead them away.
I only decided a couple months ago to switch from the healthcare field into tech and I have my final interview for a tech company already next week hoping to start my new life in the tech world. Who knows where I go from there, but I will always be learning new things and have goals and dreams that I can use those learned skills to achieve.

You didn't quit your job, you resigned (one's a loss the other a release). You're on a moon shot, the rocket you're strapped to has multiple stages. Stage one had finished its fuel, stopped pushing you forward and had just become weight. You released it and it fell away.

Not only it will impact on your mental health, positively, because you are building the scaffold to the peek of your dream mountain as well as not having the pressure of people higher up pushing and pressing, gripping and squeezing to the last drop.
It is quite scary, I know. All big changes are. But it is like being on the top of a rollercoaster, you look down and your heart wants to pop out, but once the ride starts it is a mixed wave of fear and excitement that makes you go "I want to do it again! I want more!"

I am two years out of college and I studied Computer Science and share the same views as you on self-development, productivity, sel-learning, dreams etc. I have all the same aspirations as you, financial, locational, and time freedom, multiple income streams, youtube as a way for documenting and holding yourself accountable on your journey and discussing interesting ideas you have and building a community of people who you can hopefully impact. Don't really know why I'm writing this, I guess I'm inspired. I'm trying to get my first tech job right now. Hopefully it works out. I love your quote about how just being productive without any real dreams will leave you wandering off with no real direction, but also how not having productivity and only dreams will never lead you to those dreams. Then at the end when you tied together achieving your dreams with productivity that really stuck out to me, thanks for this video! I watch your videos for motivation. Seeing someone from our age group, with similar intersts like anime etc. So seeing someone relatable, working hard, I find it as a source of motivation. The slacking being lazy part apart from anime is ofcourse something I find relatable. Makes me feel ohh its natural other people too sometimes slack so I shudnt stress excessively and lose my mind over the slacking.
Not to mention the summaries of books you present us, I mean reading those thick books be it books on productivity or on tech, while trying not to fall behind in life is too much for me, when there are stuff that have critical priority like completing uni courses.
Tina, firstly best of luck in your future endeavors!!! As someone who quit their stable full-time job last year to find my career path, I know how scary and risky it is to walk away from it. Hey Tina. This must have been a really hard decision to make but you’re an awesome person and your vision will be achieved. I plan to be an animator but I’m studying Computer Science atm. It’s not that easy for me and coding is a bit tough but I’m trying. I’m also in a pretty rough part of my schooling cuz it looks like I might fail a course and my grades are not that great but one thing you’ve taught me is that things will get better.
