Thank you for this kind of 'real' experience sharing. Since I don't have US visa, I just try to apply for some SWE/MLE positions in Europe, but it's still hard to have chance to advance even the HR screening. Hope one day I could land at the amazing company like yours.
I start in April. I’m super excited 😊 I’m really trying to go for a graphics programming role or gameplay programming role. (Feel free to give advice too if you like) Wish me luck! Thank you for sharing!
Nice, congratulations on getting an offer and joining. In terms of working in AR/VR... there's tons of work to be done and lots of opportunities there haha trust me I have only seen a small glimpse of the space but I know they always have work to do
Wonderful video. You spoke of internal resources for finding information on how other Meta-mates built and completed projects and received promotions, discovered mentors etc. Is this the "Workplace" you mentioned? My son has joined Meta recently. I want to make sure he does not miss it. Thanks a ton!
While I watch this video METAs' stock price is currently sitting @ $310 I'm sure your loyalty has been extended based on price. I bought some Meta @ $90 last year wish I had held longer. Very informative video.
All the bad is still there, some parts amplified due to the company shift in focus towards efficiency. The RTO situation isn’t nice either but full remote still exists as an option for now. But yes my stock grant has appreciated greatly and even when I hate my job I can remind myself I’m shackled by golden handcuffs and nowhere is worth hoping to, especially with the WLB I have.
I have an onsite coming up very soon for a new grad swe position. I've often heard how the technical rounds emphasize fast problem solving (with no bugs) and efficient codes, but I was wondering if you had advice for the more behavioral rounds!
For new grad SWE it can really be summed up as an “asshole test”. There is really no expectation of you having dealt with professional scenarios and the questions will be more along the lines of how you dealt with conflict in the past and whether you’re pleasant to work with. As long as you convey a growth mindset and that when it comes to conflicts/disagreements you listen the other persons argument and try to make a decision based on empires/data driven points that should be fine. Good luck with your on-site
thanks for making this video! Can you tell me the list of the top 10 companies which are good to work for? You have mentioned Google, what else you can add to this list?
Impossible to say. Everybody is different. If you're a full stack developer it's one set, backend another, low level another. As a basic rule Amazon is generally quite shit. Google and Meta are probably tied for the best of the best in terms of an overall package. You'd have to do your own research and find a company whose tech stack you're interested in working for and the sector is exciting for you (social media, finance, fintech, etc.)
You mention that you wouldn’t want to work at Google if it forced you to learn Angular. I turns out that there is close to no Angular used internally. It’s all internal frameworks for costumer facing products.
Whats the PIP policy at Meta? Do managers PIP folks if they are unable to hide their plans of switching teams internally? Meta has a lot of ex-Amazon managers right
PIP is only for performance reasons. Managers cannot block team transfers if you meet the criteria for a change (>1 year on current team and at least meets all in last performance cycle). Manager culture definitely isn’t like it is at Amazon, a lot of that shit they do would not fly at Meta. Or at least it shouldn’t, there are probably always cunts who may be the exception but it isn’t the norm.
I was filming at like 7:15 in the morning to avoid people looking at me filming. Plus this was in 2023 I think before RTO policies and people didn’t really come in
Too good, now our refreshers at this year will be granted based off a higher price. If the stock takes a big downturn then it's going to be not so fun haha
this is easily one of the best “day in the life” or company review video i’ve ever seen. i’m looking forward to your upcoming videos!!!
Dude you are the hidden gem
Thanks! Glad you enjoy the content
Agreed, how come this channel is not so famous?

Heh, I joined Meta right around two years ago ($193 initial-grant price). I forgot how dire the stock outlook looked even a year ago. $500 FTW!
Thank you for sharing! I'm joining Meta as a new grad next year. Can't wait to see the excellent engineering culture there
hey, i have an interview with meta soon, can you please share you prepared ? and useful insights? thank you so much
Thanks for your video. I’m planning on moving forward with my decision to get with Meta
Stock price is doing much much better now!
Thank you for sharing.
I can only dream of such a job.
Don't just dream, put in the work and make it a reality!
Great video, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts publicly like this.
Excellent video! Thank you for this. I think the times are just rough for now generally. Eventually the direction with Meta will improve
I can only hope! Situation looking bleak for all tech right now but hopefully things can rebound soon

What a surprise, that layoffs affect top performers with the only reason that they had a good pay....
5:30 is that supposed to be a bad thing? I love browsing Slack channels for tea 😅
subbed!
How are you feeling about the stock price now. Just checked and its at ~$600 😂
It's amazing but it's golden handcuffs now. Can't ever leave
Savings from base pay ??
