I have a few questions 1: My gp-5 came inside the satchel, so should I clean the satchel? 2: If so, how do I clean it without destroying it? 3: Is it a bad idea to fold a gas mask so it fits in the satchel? 4: Is it a good idea to put the mask in a Ziploc bag? 5: Can artificial light damage a gas mask?
All of my valuable masks are on display my most valuable £500 French M2 is stored in a thick picture frame. The rest of my more modern masks are under my bed. All of my masks are out of direct sunlight and all of the radiators are turned off as my room usually heats up rather well from the sun and I don't feel the cold too much as I'm wearing vest tops most of the time anyway haha.
It kinda depends on the kind of rubber but styrofoam mannequin heads will absorb moisture and dry out the rubber on the mask. If you kept something with thin rubber on it like a GP-5 it might dry it out and make it rot and it'll stick to the styrofoam. Be careful with them.
cheers mate I've got an old mickey mouse gas mask that I got as a kid and it was immediately my most prized possession, I've had on my shelf for about 10 years and just the other day I took a look at it and noticed the rubber has somewhat deteriorated. I'm really pissed off at myself because I didnt even consider that it would deteriorate and didnt even notice. Is there anything I can do to repair the rips in the rubber and what would you best recommend I do to store it properly?
Have mine on a set of shelves, unfortunately, when I went away someone opened my curtains and my M10, IP5 and GP5 went a bit of a brown colour. Ah well, at least they're inexpensive, and a bit less obvious if one was trying to use concealment whilst wearing them.
The ROU I think? It's disposable unless there's a way to swap out the filter in the mask, it seems to take a page out of old PH Hoods. The filter is the mask itself. Super expensive for what it is, but still a cool bit of kit. I think the PMK-3 has a camo flash hood, similar to the S10's but of course, not blue, black or grey. Pretty sensible, but it's extra equipment you have to equip, even if it's lightweight, still a bit awkward. I need to pick up a PMK-3 sometime, shame they rarely show up on the European market without costing £20+ on shipping.
i have a GP-5 soviet gas mask from 80s, how i can kept it? I mean how you can put it inside the bag, because i do it a now it has a line in the place were was dubbed
If you still check comments on this video. Is it only UV light that effects the masks? because I currently store my masks open in a shelf in a room with no windows. Will they still get light damage?
My FM12 is stored in a closet, but it didn't come with a sack. (Also closet is closed and there is no sunlight). But! I have Yugoslavian military backpack so can I store my FM12 in there or should I leave it in that closed closet? (Also I put filters where?).
I accidentally left my GP5 near a window for a few days, now there's a few light brown streaks on the top, would this diminish the strength of the rubber or the performance of the mask, or does it not matter at all?
aye, but I was thinking more of what to look out for when you buy a gas mask for self protection, especially on ebay. Example would be to look out for cuts or rust in the mask, etc.
I have a couple of WW2 gas masks inside of their original canisters stored in a cupboard. I also put 2 airtight plastic bags over each of them. Could the plastic bags potentially damage the masks due to an increase in temperature or is this a good way of storing them? They are, of course, out of direct sunlight and not in a particularly warm area but I just want to make sure that this is a good way of storing them.
cool video I keep my ww2 and cold war gas mask on top of my mantel peace above my window with the curtains closed so my gasmasks don't get any sunlight
Weaponsandstuff93 yea thanks but when I find videos it's normally professionals so they leave no errors or tell you how to fix the even though I'm sure there's one error they are making
I store my Czech CM4 inside my closet inside its havoc sack. No light gets inside the closet at all, and if it does it's covered by the clothes in my closet. Is that a good way to store it?
I carry my m65 in a messenger bag it fits fine and with the filter the filter cocker has already been broken off and I'm keeping he filter in a bandanna will the filter expire
Look for 40mm ABEK-P industrial filters, they're the exact same thing as 40mm CBRN NATO filters but much easier to find in date because they are made for civilian industry.
my first ever mask was my M65. im a bit biased towards it dont blame me it was my first mask ever xD. my second one was a VM38 for Kids then a GP5, a GP4 for Kids, then a Polish mask that i cant realy identify, and a czech M10. next one comming is a VM40 xD. my collecrtion is a bid more wide spread tho... i also have a deactivated german coldwar riffle, a german helmet and a greatcoat, an american helmet with Red Army Faction Propaganda on it, two typewriters from the fiftys, one in original shape looking basically like a new one, the other one has been through hours of repair but is now too in top shape, also got some knives, an old NVA "Grenzschutz" hat, a german guid how to react to different alarm signals and nuclear, chemical or biological attacks and how to help wounded soldiers from 73, a bulletprove west that i just couldnt resist to buy when i saw it for 10€ (its basically new) a hellload of knives, some extra stuff and tools in case the gasmasks or the riffle get damaged, some old nazi coins and a coin from 1912(also german) and 152million reichsmark from the 1920s and two remakes of old nazibooks (Mein Kampf and another one from the 40s where the germans try to explain why they did that shit called "wofür Kämpfen wir" (why we fight)) and also a bit older remake from the 90s of Karl Marx Kapital (that book that made communism). in general random stuff that just interseted me when i bought it and in general is just cool to have xD
Never watched his videos but I think he said also never bother testing masks with air freshener as it doesn't work. So I wouldn't really listen to anything he has to say.

I was thinking that In my head and i look and comets and u sed it lol 😆 i love has mask and stuff but he'd hated on tiktok

1. If you want to
2. Hand wash at mild temperature
3. Not with a Soviet rubber mask
4. Up to you
5. Unlikely
I know I'm a bit late but any fluorescent lamps could damage them as well since they emit a little bit of uv light

The Finnish M61 v2 was my first gas mask too, I still have it 10 years later, great mask all around.
Yeah a great mask.
As you said on one of your life streams. They are literally everywhere :D

i reccomend putting silca gel in the to prevent moist forming

As far as I know there is only one camo gas mask and that's the modern Russian army light weight mask.
The ROU I think? It's disposable unless there's a way to swap out the filter in the mask, it seems to take a page out of old PH Hoods. The filter is the mask itself. Super expensive for what it is, but still a cool bit of kit.

I've been after a GP-9 for a while but sadly even when the masks are for sale for £30-40, the postage is like £20+.
Dude love your videos, they help out a lot
Love the necronomicon at 3:10. I have one with that same hardcover haha.
Great video thanks for teaching me how to store gas masks. Thank you really appreciated.
I stored my Finnish M61 in my attic for 3 years. In the summer it’s 130 F. Just took it out and it’s still air tight and in perfect condition.
i have a GP-5 soviet gas mask from 80s, how i can kept it? I mean how you can put it inside the bag, because i do it a now it has a line in the place were was dubbed
great vidio
How much does the temperature in your house fluctuate through the seasons.
Can you store a used fm12 in a vacuum bag? Does the lack of oxygen help?
Can you talk about the MP-5 gas mask and how to tell if the ABC-74 filter is still good for use if sealed in plastic egglike shell with no expire date
If you still check comments on this video. Is it only UV light that effects the masks? because I currently store my masks open in a shelf in a room with no windows. Will they still get light damage?
Ok...i love your videos they are cool and i have learned so much watching them
Thank you

I have a question, is the Scott nato gas mask filter safe to use for a costplay?, and if it isnt, what shoud i use?
Is it the 40mm filter or the GSR filter?
Either way as long as it's not leaking it's fine.
40mm, also it has expired in 2008-2012
As long as it isn't leaking it's perfectly safe.
Would it be a good or bad idea to store my gas mask inside an airtight plastic food box? Would that help to protect it, or perhaps degrade it somehow?
Does it hurt the seals to leave the filter canisters attached to the mask for long periods?
My FM12 is stored in a closet, but it didn't come with a sack. (Also closet is closed and there is no sunlight). But! I have Yugoslavian military backpack so can I store my FM12 in there or should I leave it in that closed closet? (Also I put filters where?).
Either is fine, just put the filters in a draw, I have a draw just for filters.
I accidentally left my GP5 near a window for a few days, now there's a few light brown streaks on the top, would this diminish the strength of the rubber or the performance of the mask, or does it not matter at all?
It would slightly but not massively.
Hi
I have a question.. if the gas masks is dagerous why do you use it?
Thanks
Which mask?
Weaponsandstuff93 the GP-5
You can put safe filters on it.
Maybe a video on how to properly buy a gas mask and what to look out for?
You can't really "properly buy a gas mask" you either buy it or you don't, I already have a lot of videos on recommended gas masks.
aye, but I was thinking more of what to look out for when you buy a gas mask for self protection, especially on ebay. Example would be to look out for cuts or rust in the mask, etc.
Thank you for showing me how to store my gas mask properly now it will last me years to come

No idea to be honest, if they are in cases I doubt the bags could damage them.
Weaponsandstuff93 Thank you.
Great video, as always. Also what's your opinion on the PMK-3 ?
Don't have one so can't give an opinion on it.
Isn't foam hard on the mask
Do you have many useable filters like non breaken down?
I am not trying to buy them from you haha
I have about 5 good sealed filters, I buy them if I see them at good prices.
Ok thanks! i am looking for some but i think most prices are Crazy!
Is it ok to leave your filter in your mask when stored
Yes as long as it's not going to put strain on the straps etc.
cool video I keep my ww2 and cold war gas mask on top of my mantel peace above my window with the curtains closed so my gasmasks don't get any sunlight
Yeah that's a good way of doing it.
I hope your joking, they're crap as gas masks but interesting collectors items.
Can you make a video on and to put on a NBC suit and check for gaps and thanks I'll use one of these ways to store my gas mask
I'll get around to doing a NBC suit video at some point but bear in mind how to put it on varies from suit to suit.
Weaponsandstuff93 yea thanks but when I find videos it's normally professionals so they leave no errors or tell you how to fix the even though I'm sure there's one error they are making
i have my gas mask in my room my room have no windows I keep it on top of my shelf is that good?
Yes
Well I'd assume so as long as it doesn't heat up and cool down constantly.
I needed to know this thanks
Glad you liked it.
What about masks that are exposed to light bulbs and other illuminating lights that aren't sunlight?
Never seen LED or incandescent bulbs damage a mask, unless the mask was in theory so close to the bulb that the heat from the bulb burnt the mask.
and if i dient have the satchel, should i store it in a box?
Yeah that would work fine
But if you use them outside the sun will damage them.. or not ?
Not for a short time
Weaponsandstuff93 how did you get started with your love of gas masked.
I store my Czech CM4 inside my closet inside its havoc sack. No light gets inside the closet at all, and if it does it's covered by the clothes in my closet. Is that a good way to store it?
That would be fine
I carry my m65 in a messenger bag it fits fine and with the filter the filter cocker has already been broken off and I'm keeping he filter in a bandanna will the filter expire
All filters expire even if sealed, how you are storing it will result in faster expiry.
You need a properly sealed recent filter.
Great video
Cheers.
Nice video man. Good to know.
Thanks
i talc my masks put them in a bag then in the havossak and put it in a drawer is it ok
Should be fine but you don't really need to re-talc masks.

What gas mask is in the bag in the middle of the first part
I'm pretty sure i have the bag.
I found it in my grandfathers basement
British Light anti-gas respirator is the one I think you mean.
Weaponsandstuff93 thanks man
I've been trying to figure out what it was for 2 years
so i got this gp-5m and i was wondering if it can fit on a soviet/russian style tank helmet
All Soviet masks can due to the "helmet" mask design.
Does humidity count
It will play a part but obviously masks have to be waterproof, again I imagine constant damping and drying is worse than a constant number.
Should I put my masks on mannequin foam heads? Or does the foam melt the rubber I've heard various different theories
Glass heads are better but I've never had issues with foam heads.
