It is not advisable to store the outsert with the latex folded, because it will be irreversibly deformed. On the other hand, MCU straps do not fit well on an m40 mask, due to the angle of the straps, and it can cause air leakage.
i’ve never actually thought about that for the outserts, thanks for pointing it out and i think i will start storing them when they’re not in use that way !! and I also _did_ not know that MCU-2P and 2A/P straps were actually different from the M40 and M40A1s, so thanks again ! :)
The way you are describing it I believe it could be two things, one it’s either actually fogged up, or two it is filled with extremely small scratches that collectively block your vision. If you run your fingers along it and don’t feel any “grit” it prob isn’t the scratches. But, i’m not exactly sure how to fix the fog issue entirely, maybe you could try washing them with soap and water and a softer nonabrasive brush (or old toothbrush)? If that doesn’t work, you could look into something called cleaning “mineral spirits”, but I’m not entirely familiar with that. Sorry I actually don’t have much info on this particular issue, but I hope that helps a little bit at the least
Unfortunately, I’ve checked the market occasionally for such tool but it really is hard to come by. My best guess is that after the M40 was phased out, the tool for the central voice emitter likely was too.
@@yomada7790That makes sense. Do you have the tool for the side voice emitter? It looks like it is two knobs on the flat portion of it. Maybe those work? Idk
@agentwashingtub9167 For the side voicemitter, you can actually see me using the D-ring from the M40/M42 carrier to remove it at 5:37. In my experience you can use almost anything similar to do it. But to answer your question, i’ve unfortunately tried this with the primary emitter but it’s just not the same diameter and it’s an entirely different interface; 4 holes as opposed to 4 divots on the side emitter.
sorry to hear about that. And especially sorry, if it was my instruction that caused you to tear it :/ But yes, it shouldn’t be a problem at all if it’s the valve COVER because it has no actual valves itself.
Okay, honestly I would not recommend it. If you were to do so would be at your own risk and safety in case you permanently compromise your mask. But, I’m pretty sure since the lenses are crimped on to the facepiece, you may be able to simply just “uncrimp” the metal and remove the lenses from there, im not entirely sure. But again i would NOT recommend trying it if i were just curious
Ayy what’s good man. Well i definitely have seen quite a few i just haven’t got the money yet lmao. But i’m actually looking to get a Czech OM90 in a bit unless a forsheda comes across dirt cheap which odds are, never happening :0
@@yomada7790 hey quick question. Do you know what I could use to remove the front voice emitter? I know there’s some tool, and I’ve tried just to unscrew it by hand, but haven’t had any luck
@@domp5014 yea you pretty much need the tool. but a friend of mine has used a pair of pliers once and successfully got it off though it may be rough on the metal. hope that can somewhat help
Hey! Well depending on what you need exactly, and where you are located, you can find most parts on Ebay! I believe the most commonly available are the side voicemitter assemblies, the exhale valve cover, head harness, outserts, and sometimes the exhale valves. Does that help answer your question, perhaps?
@@yomada7790 I've been looking around for a side voice emitter assembly for a couple weeks now and haven't seen any. Am I looking in the wrong places? I don't use Ebay too often so I could easily see that being the case.
hey there! i actually found a replacement set made by 3M when they had the M40 contract. You may have not found it because of a slight difference in name (FR-M40 instead of M40) But the seller is currently away so just that to note www.ebay.com/itm/284293541075?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=k2xLfQyTRYC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=o8urcx2arly&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
sometimes it’s just a gamble. As long as you followed the steps prior such as taking off the screw ring, you probably just need to give it a BIT more force. Because the thing keeping the emitter secure to the face blank is a small (sometimes sticky) rubber gasket as is seen at 6:21. Hope that helps a bit? In this case i don’t think you have to be that scared of damaging the mask since it’s just the voicemitter, but take that with a grain of salt sorry haha.
Dude thank you, been trying to switch parts out but I had no idea how.
ha glad i could help!
