Nothing is more joyful than cooking with our children, especially at that age. Those memories are forever. I enjoyed every second of this vlog.
Thank you!
bella famiglia, complimenti
What a cute kid. You're a lucky man.
Your a beautiful family and what a great mom. Your kids are adorable and MacKenzie did a fantastic job. I miss cooking with my kids when they were little. But I really enjoy them cooking for me and with me now.❤

Mckenzie is adorable. She is a little mama.
Born and raised on the weeki wachee. I can see where you are an I’m so glad you are doing the best that can be done out here. Love to see you at the weeki wachee private park during a warmer weekend coming up
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed! We haven't been up there since the rule change relating to beching vessels, but Caitie and I were talking about it the other day. Looking forward to warm weather for sure.
@@SomethinCatchy such a dumb rule. And then you see the ones enforcing the law coming all the way up river on this ungodly party deck of a pontoon and just churn up the grass for miles. They yelled at me last summer for walking up the river to a deep spot but I’m 6’6” and walk straight up the middle and don’t ever touch the grass to begin with. People can’t just have a good time without destroying stuff in their eyes
New subscriber. I really enjoyed this video!! I’m on the part where you’re opening the crabs. I live in Maryland. We usually steam or crabs in the whole shell before steaming them. I thought it was amazing how the ice bath calmed them down. Awesome video!! Beautiful family!! Awesome crab cakes!! Thank you. 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for the kind words and for subscribing! Glad you enjoyed! 👍

Hi this looks great
THANKS!
Great video and such a beautiful family, enjoying life along with cooking.
Thank you!
Crab cakes yummy
Looks like y’all had a good day especially with the little ones! I need to go crabbing more often.
The bottom of a male crab looks like the Washington Monument and the bottom of female crabs looks like the Capital in Washington. 😃. That’s a nice catch.
Great Job !!!
Loved watching you guys. It is such a group effort! Best of all those taste sooo good!
Thank you! Yes those crab cakes are the best.
Its atuck....love it!

Greetings from the Treasure Coast! Subbed to yall ....hope your channel continues to grow.
Thanks so much!
2 new subs from the treasure coast
Where abouts are you guys? Reminds me of the area in Florida I grew up, Hernando County. My dad and I would catch coolers full of crab at a sandbar just a bit up river from Bayport, in the brackish water coming from the Weeki Wachee River - kite string, chicken backs (cheaper if you can find em) and a net.
Great vid, thanks for sharin - subbed up and liked. Best to you and the entire fam
Hahaha, oh man - I typed that while still watchin' - y'all are in Hernando County it looks! Very cool, love it, and even more glad I found y'all
Have a good one
Thanks for sharing the story! Glad you enjoyed it! We do a lot of these videos out of Bayport. It's such a cool area. Glad you remembered those times it gives me hope our kids will cherish these memories! 👍
Thanks for watching
@@SomethinCatchy they definitely will remember - plus y'all have it on video now, too.
That spot we crabbed from was a left turn headed toward the river from Bayport. Just before you make your final left to enter the river, there's (or was maybe haha) a mile marker, and just to the side of the channel a nice sandbar (assuming it's still there after this long while haha). But from there, you just toss your chickenback/chickenpart into/toward the channel - give it 5 minutes or so, then pull em in with the net on the bottom. Worked out nice, since as a kid ya always appreciate that clear sand bottom you can see, and you get to catch crab and swim/explore.
Might be a fun lil trip for y'all, or a nice stop off point for ya sometime.
We found that spot because my dad liked to give the boat a freshwater rinse in the river after the days salt. We usually launched from Rodgers Park most times. The fresh water is always nice to take a dip in, too - lil desalting for the body haha
Wife n I are watchin all your stuff now - you guys are gonna kill it with the channel, just keep it fun with your awesome fam - it'll happen if you believe it
Thanks! We will give it a try. We like to net them at night with lights too. Such a good time.
Really appreciate all the info and kind words!
HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE
Absolutely!
So this is what its like to be live good
I knew that trap in the grass was going to be loaded!
You are lucky! I lost seven stone crab traps in the Nassau River. Someone either stole the traps or just cut the lines. I just gave up!
It happens here too. Some people are using cellular trail cam to try to catch them. Thanks for watching!
great video, really enjoyed it. not seen your channel before,, but i just steamed a bunch of live crabs and while eating them, was watching this. so, when you clean them before steaming, are they dead there? i see they are not moving so you dont have to worry about getting bitten?
We give them an ice bath right before cleaning. Thanks for watching!
Are fiddler crabs in same family as regular crabs ?
I believe so
Where can I buy that crab pot from it's nice?
I buy all of my crab traps from Dixie Lee bait in Weeki Wachee Florida.
Caught all mine in Chesapeake Bay
Would love to try it there sometime. Thanks for watching
The crab that looks like that it is called a cotton crab the commercial crabbers on the eastern shore catch them often
Thank you for the info!
Hello, I recently started eating blue crabs. Since I saw this video where she said worms had taken over the crab I am scared of eating them unless they are dressed. I order from Cameron's Seafood, Crab Place, and purchase Savannah crabs. How would I know or do the vendors know if a crab is infected? I ask this question with the utmost respect.
I notice your not measuring any of the crabs is there no size limit where you are or you know from sight ?
No size limit here (we do release the small ones though). Thanks for watching
nice vid 🙂, if you want to give those crab cakes a REALLY AWESOME flavor fry them in NATURAL/PURE COCONUT OIL mmmm...... give em a try a let me know how it went ty and hope you all have a great day 🙂
Thanks! Yes we have tried them in coconut and avocado oil. Both are delicious!
@@SomethinCatchy sweet 😊👋
Hey - what did y'all find to use to put the registration numbers and address on your traps? Everything I try the ink (even sharpie) is gone by the time I pick up the trap.
The best thing we have found to use are tree tags on Amazon and just used a sharpie on them. They have lasted longer than anything else we have used in the past and haven't collected algae or barnicals yet.
Thanks for watching!
So when your wife was cleaning those blues, what had happened to them before that? Do they die in the cooler? Or had they been boiled? Btw, nice family. Cute kids. Also, unlike Dungeness crabs, there is no measuring to see if they are keepers? Or sexing?
They go in the ice bath briefly and that pretty much puts them to sleep or more depending on how long you leave them in there. After that we clean them out and steam or boil them. Here in Florida you're allowed to keep any size blue crab so long as it's not bearing eggs. Some people choose to only keep me male crabs though.
Thank you for the compliment by the way.
How long did you leave that out there?
We prefer a day or 2
How long are you leaving the traps out?
24 hours is best in my opinion. If you wait too long they'll eat each other.
Or maybe a octopus.for that open door
Is there a legal Limit size on blue crab in Florida ? And if you use them for bait does it have to be legal ? Thanks in advance.
You're allowed to use blue crabs of any size for bait. You're not allowed to keep egg-bearing females. Regulations are always changing so be sure to double check.
Thanks for watching!
@@SomethinCatchy thanks for the information. New subscriber!
Thanks! We definitely appreciate it
This was a amazing video. We love that it’s a family effort. We come down to satellite beach Florida 2to3 times a year and taking the kids fishing and catching crabs is our favorite thing to do. New subscriber here and can’t wait for more videos.
That's awesome! Satellite beach is beautiful. Check out the Nature Coast next time you are down!
Thank you for the support!
How long were they in the water
1-2 days is ideal or they'll eat each other
Did you find out what the cause of the”worm”look was on that crab you were talking about ? I hate to say it but I’ll have a hard time eating crab for a while after that. Sometimes things Just stick in the brain, especially when it comes to food.
A viewer had mentioned to us that it looked like cotton crab I googled it myself and I do believe it was that.
It's a disease that they can get where a parasite destroys the cells of the crab. I don't blame you for being grossed out by it but I felt like I needed to share the information lol
I wouldn't worry about it too much because I have caught a ton of crabs and I've only found one that's ever looked like that.
Thanks for watching!
I say red nails lol for girls
Is, The Waterman from Key West your brother? You look and sound exactly like him, Just with a tad more weight : )
Never met him 🤷
Thanks for watching though 👍
Why remove the carapace? There is a lot of tasty fat in it??
Hello friends do you want to import see foods from India....such as
Live mud carb ( 700g to 2500g per piece)
Green muscles ( 70g per piece)
Tiger prawns ( 500 g per piece)
Oyester
One chicken leg per pot? How long was the soak? No wonder, they started eating each other😂
Your daughter was great. It's wonderful to see a child that young being that involved.
However, you almost started more riots in Baltimore than Freddie Gray when you tore those crabs apart like a raccoon and hosed them out! Steaming dead crabs is a health hazard because of the bacteria that live in them. Do you rip lobsters in half before cooking them?
I understand that different cultures do things differently, but when you "cleaned " that big peeler I nearly passed out. Do you guys know what a soft-shell crab is?
Your crabcake recipe was good but we use more "old Bay" and less bread. Md crabcakes are usually 1/4 lb each. well to each their own. at least you know what old Bay is....
What's the world record size ?
10.72 inches 👀
You call that seasoning ?😂
What do you use? 👀
Is there no size limit on blue crabs. What about sex. Can you keep both male and female?
There's no size limit on Blue Crabs in Florida. You can keep both males and females yes, unless the females have eggs in them.
Thanks for watching!
Caught and eatin 10000s of crabs, never seen a crab cleaned pre steam/boil/ect....what da
I commercial crab à I can't agree with you on that door , sorry
um the woman is hot
Can you tell the difference between male crabs and (formerly male) Trans Crabs that identify as female? Do they paint their fingernails red? Do they put wide aprons over their narrow male aprons? 🤔 Do they --steal-- gather and carry eggs?
That is Florida cooking. Please don't try this in New Orleans. We really know how to cook crabs with flavor.
This is quick and easy. Tastes great.
Can be done many ways 👍
