soak the risers in muriatic acid and clean out the water jackets. i had the same boat a few years back. benefited a lot when i swapped the intake and installed a 4 barrel Q jet. The original thunder bolt distributor has a big curve. not sure you will achieve the power band with the after market with no advance . good luck . im following to see the outcome
That’s a good idea! I might have to try soaking them if it does overheat! I want to switch to a 4 barrel but I also want to do heads, and a cam so I’m probably just going to wait to do it all at once. I’ve heard different opinions on locking out the timing “some love it and some hate it” but that’s what we’ve always done on are airboats and we love it, it’s easy to dial in and it’s really snappy with all that timing down low. My boat is identical except it’s the 320hp MAG EFI version. They are awesome boats extremely fun. Trim tabs help these boats a ton. It’s looking like you have a plugged water jacket in the manifold/riser.
Those bits you pulled out of the t-stat housing looked like rubber. If an old impeller ever broke apart, the pieces like to get stuch in the t-stat and the oil coolers. Back flush the system and look for chunks of old impeller.
Well to be honest with you buddy I wasn’t looking for anyone to judge if it was cheap or not, but if you must know I paid $2k for it which is EXTREMELY cheap for this boat.

Oil pressure gauges and senders come in us and euro resistance.. both work the opposite way to each other .. I’ll bet ur sender is a different resistance as your gauge (one us and one euro resistance) hence why it pegs with ignition on.. and why it appears to drop on higher rpm.. because it’s reading backwards
Those cooling systems won’t cool properly just pulling the thermostat so If it does overheat it’s could be partly from running without the thermostat in it

Switch the wires on the oil read out. Think about it. It was maxed instead of zero.

It’ll also cause the uneven flow to the exhaust
as long as you can tell when the oil pressure is going up or down it’s probably fine if it’s not perfectly accurate
Yes sir I ordered a new sending unit for it that’s specifically for that gage.

Before diving into thinking the manifolds being bad fix the cooling system these systems have to have a thermostat in them to work properly
