Great memory for me. My dad bought a sears best, like that back in the 1970’s. He let me put the trailer together and wire the lights. Grandpa has an old 7.5 Evenrude, still have that motor. Reminds me of my 10ft aluminum pram. 3hp Evinrude. My brother won it at a raffle in Harundale Mall. It helped that I was a runt. Never got over 118 lbs until after HS. I actually got warned about going too fast in a 6mph zone by Tidewater. My summer water gang called ourselves the Magothy Maggots. Got into an ice throwing battle with one of the guys on the pier of what used to be Town Hall Resteraunt. I didn't have the motor on securely. The motor flew off in 12ft of water. Got it out with a pair of oyster tongs a week later. After a little work - it ran. Another time, by myself near Magovista beach, one of the football team lineman (225 lbs) ran me over with his normal sized boat. Put a big dent in it and had to bail more often. And had some problems with the transom after trying to pull up one of the maggots on skis.
Found an old sears row boat washed up on the marsh. Chunks missing out of it, but was basically a floating foam filled cooler. Found ourselves a 5hp sears game fisher out of an “uncles” shed. Rigged it up and ran that thing out manasquan inlet. Everyone thought we were crazy but it’s a story I’ll never forget. Some of the best times on the water I’ve had where with the cheapest/free boats 😂
I had a 12ft dinghy as a younger kid and the feeling of being super free on a boat is great 😂😂 now I have my own 12ft jon boat because my dad sold my dinghy
Well , I still got a 12 foot , 12 volt trolling motor , 9.5 gas motor , oars and trailer and more extras . I sold my 18 foot . Both sit around for 9 years because I just use my kayak . $400

Foolproof and safe logic
Wish the older generations would invest in younger generations, like selling a scrap boat for scrap prices to help a kid out, rather than hustle him.
For real. What a bad person that seller is... 😡
Maybe other generations shouldn't expect a handout or giving something free

sounds like when i go out on my boat holes patched with jb weld and I have a hi flow bilge pump looks like you had a good time on the water everyone was smiling 😁

I’ve had many of these exact same type of trips good times
Bro the penny saver is how i found all kinds of good stuff. Miss that thing in my mail box every week
