Just made a nice dodge v8 hemi sit I dident win tbh but it was tied and if I would of turned ac off and break boosted the turbo and turned 4wd on I think I would of pulled him. But my buddy talking endless shit in the passenger seat about the 4 banger with a turbo being slow af definitely got real quiet. Gotta love it. A engine is a engine it’s all about design and functionality there are tractors that pull 16k and have v6s it’s all about how the thing performs. Size does not always matter but it sure can help when done right if chevy put a turbo in the v8 it would perform better then 4 banger turbocharged but the boosted 4 banger comes for the regular v8s neck silent but deadly. I think at higher speeds the hemi might of pulled on me thoe but the quickness of the 2.7 is a god damn thing of beauty if feels more responsive then you would ever imagine. Also at the gm proving grounds the 2.7 lived longer then all there v8s.

I have the 4cyl in a crew cab Custom 2WD. Other than sounding like a Camry on take off, the motor isn't bad but the lag is definitely noticeable. I traded in my Ford F150 crew with the 2.7 twin turbo ecoboost. Quickness is night and day between the two trucks. The torque is good but don't pull out in font of someone. MPG is very good. I'm 26 on the hwy (with a/c 75mph) and 17-18 in town with easy starts. Haven't towed yet but I would think most people will be happy. I'd buy it again

I recently got a LT with the 2.7 back in August. I have no complaints with it. Only reason I didn't get a trail boss was because I wanted the lowest msrp truck with the most options. I'll take the heated seats, duel climate control and extra steering wheel control all day over a 2" suspension lift I can add on if I really feel the need. I also really prefer the 8sp Trans over a 10. Had a 10 sp in my 17 f150 and it was always trying to figure out what gear to be in. 8sp is just right. Hell if you keep the 2.7 running consistently around 1500-1800rpm I've been. Getting around 22-26mpg with it. My favorite part about my truck is the steering wheel controls for the audio. Engineered flawlessly.

They should have kept the steering wheel controls from the safety and confidence package. Instead they went cheap and tossed them and the larger information screen in the gauge cluster . You’re paying more than 4K on the base price you’d think they would have kept them. I know they kept all the safety stuff and added the inteli beam auto high beams . But now it will always look cheap and for $48,700 you are spending a lot of money.

I have had a gen1 2.7 gmc sierra for 2 years now. 45k miles. Zero issues. 21.8 mpg average.
From my experience, this engine is not underpowered, and will be an incredible off road option. The torque power band comes so low in RPMs it’s amazing. I got the $1,500 discount, and the dealer added more because they could not sell this engine. It will be a beast in the trail boss, but an outright monster in the Colorado/Canyon platforms. Light truck, light engine, 430 lbs of torque at 2000rpms. Doesn’t get much better than that.

The 4 cylinder ecoboost is excellent in a midsize truck like the ranger, as long as you’re not towing a ton of weight and driving it like it’s a race car. However, a full-size truck is just too much for an engine like this. My ranger gets about 23 mpg, the fact that this thing gets 16 mpg tells me it’s going to be too stressed and will probably not last 100k miles.

People rave about how awesome the 3.0 Duramax that only has 277hp and 460tq the "little" 2.7 makes 33 hp more and almost the same tq (just 30lbs less) All available from 1500-4000rpm That's quite literally diesel numbers. There's even a comment on here about how they should put the 2.8 duramax 4cyl in this truck. That thing is a slug in the colorado compared the the 2.7 turbo in a silverado. But because it's a diesel it gets all the praise. This is a great option for a truck and makes impressive power. Additionally, if you don't care about the new front end, you can buy a 2022 LTD custom trail boss with the 6.2 for $51000 Now that's a deal for a budget off-roader.
