    The only thing that could potentially be an issue is the front driver side block under the jack being turned into the camper, if you touch the backside it doesn’t give much wiggle room for movement and could buckle, also it could be a tire pincher.I like them to be longways like your passenger side even when raising and lower on uneven ground the jacks will move forwards and backwards. Great information video.

      @millersmonstrosity3419  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thats a pretty good observation because i have since learned that the blocks always go long ways, parallel with the truck

    One item to watch out for, I saw you putting the 7 pin trailer extension bulkhead in the space between your flatbed box and the basement sidewall of the camper. If the camper shifts a bit on the bed (bad roads), it can pinch that connector between the box and the basement wall. It will end up damaging the basement wall. Been there with my Everest and Stablecamper flatbed boxes.

    Good job on the video, very thorough! Great setup with your F550 and Host. Quick question: bed height is an issue for me, do you know what the height of your flat bed is at the back when it's unloaded? I know the Ram's 4500/5500 with a CM bed are right around 43". I haven't found any Fords with the CM bed that I could measure. Thanks and keep up the good videos!

    • @millersmonstrosity3419
      @millersmonstrosity3419  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe 43" is correct. I was 6 inches higher with the flat bed and I think the regular 350 was 36". It put my total height at 13' on the flat bed

    Great job. Again question: Why can’t truck camper manufacturers add 22” to the rear of the camper, so emergency potty breaks don’t need to deploy the rear slide to enter the camper?

    • @millersmonstrosity3419
      @millersmonstrosity3419  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have to think it has to do with weight and drivability. If you had an extra 22" off the back it would probably bottom out anytime you went through ditch or anything of that nature. Also, it would make towing anything being you extremely difficult because you would need a 6 foot hitch extension which I don't is out there or could handle much weight

    How did you mount your spare on the hitch extension?? That's exactly what I want to do!

  • @johnhenry3536
    @johnhenry3536 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hmm. I still think it's a hassle. Whether flatbed or pickup bed, you still have to have the camper "perfectly aligned" for road transport. If not, then your tie-downs need adjustments, weight balance is off and the camper looks off too. So proper alignment is still required but still a bit easier with a flatbed since you can make adjustments while your bed is under the camper.
    I've also notice extreme battery draw from the camper jacks (or using the slides) when not connected to the truck or shore power. My next camper setup will solve this by simply leaving the camper on full-time (dedicated camping rig).

      @millersmonstrosity3419  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@usmcshepherdE9 I didn't have too, the 550 sits level without a load whereas most pickups sit 1.5"-2" low in the front end so even though the 550 didn't have much squat it looked like it had more than it did since it doesn't have that nose low setup like most trucks. So the timbrens were just to keep it as level as possible. I notice 0 difference between the detuned and regular motor

    SOMEBODY needs to invent a fast camper jack. These things are actually junk imo. I've owned several campers and I hate these things. They're can be unreliable and very slow. I would guess that a huge market for a much higher quality, faster jack likely exists. Maybe they do already, but I've not seen one myself.
