The crazy thing about this track from 1969 is Mark, Don & Mel were in their very early 20s. Like, 21 & 22 years old! Awesome band from my youth!

Great choice! The band added fourth member and keyboardist Craig Frost in 72. Footstompin’ Music is another must hear GFR track 🔥

This was the era of the big arena rock. Although the critics were never kind, the people loved Grand Funk. They often toured with Humble Pie and and together these guys played before huge crowds - something like 200,000 at Hyde Park London w/ the Pie,; then famously they sold out Shea Stadium in record time, again with Humble Pie supporting. What I would give to have been at one of these concerts. It was a good time to be young.

It’s so great to see you back!! I’ve missed your energy ♥️ GFR is one of the best bands from the 70’s 🔥🎸🎤🔥 They are a great live band too!! Check out their song “Sin is a Good Man’s Brother” Great to see you again 👍🏼

The live version of this from LA in '74 is an all timer. In '72 we drove a couple of hours to a festival to see em but they cancelled and Alice Cooper filled in. Also huge at the time

Saw Mark Farner last October & he still has it. Led a thre man band and did all the guitar licks and vocals.

Years back in my home town of Grand Rapids, MI, there was a railroad overpass for the Grand Trunk Railroad...some fan changed it to Grand Funk Railroad. Just a little black and white paint. GFR was a great power trio. It's amazing what power trios could come up with...Cream, GFR, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top...This is a great bluesy song. Also, check out "T.N.U.C." from the same album...Don Brewer does a helluva drum solo.

Great reaction !! Love you guys and how much you are enjoying GFRR !! In their day, they ROCKED !! GFR Always gave it 110%
and Left their hearts on the stage. They had a RABID Fan base (mostly "Chicks"). When they opened a show for someone, they always
"Up-Staged" the main act, even Led Zep (Half the crowd left when Led Zep came on.)!! Led Zep
never let them open for them ever again !!
When they opened for Rod Stewart and the Faces, the crowd Boo'ed Rod Stewart off the stage !!
    When promoters finally realized
just how popular they were, GFR became the "Main Act". GFR became known as the
    originators of "Stadium Rock". They
filled stadiums across the USA and Europe and sold out Shea Stadium in New York, in 72-hours !! The Beatles took
    3-weeks to sell-out Shea !!
I saw them twice in 1971 and they were AWESOME !! That year, at Pirates World in Dania, Fl.
the Promoters sold 15,000 tickets for a outdoor venue, that only held 10,000 and the people
who couldn't get in rioted and over-turned 3 City of Miami police cars !!
If their manager (a friend) hadn't taken every penny and all their rights, even the guitars and Amps !! He left them
NOTHING, or they would have been the biggest Band EVER !!
Their leader and front man Mark Farner is still rock'in today, after decades of legal battles
to finally, get the "rights" back enough to play GFR songs again !! GFR is the best thing to
ever come out of Flint, Michigan (except maybe the GM Buick). There is NO GFR without
Mark Farner !! WAKE UP R&R Hall of Fame !! It is criminal GFR is not in the HOF !!

Love some Grand Funk. My band plays this tune, usually as a finale. Amazing how many folks have never heard it.
GFR is one of my favorite bands. Check out their song,"Sins a Good Man's Brother". "The Railroad" is another great tune.

Great song from a great band. The 1974 live version is awesome! I recommend reacting to People Let’s Stop the War by them. They have many great songs to react to.

What I would have given up to see that concert. Did you see them after that? Unfortunately I never saw GFR. I did see Mark Farner (my favorite front man) several years ago. He was awesome.

Your doing this Band an injustice by noz playing the live version (audio only) from the Double live album ❤from 1969 I Jacksonville, Florida as it's the best sounding hands down than any other Heartbreaker performance.. A real Honest to goodness Banger!!

It’s been 2+ years since you did We’re An American Band. I’d love to see you do the live version from Shea Sradium. Such energy and a bonus to see the drummer rocking out the vocals. th-cam.com/video/jL4rXHt0_GI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=w_cAcFuCgA8qmzhR
