I'm sorry but the reason I even know who PSH was is because of his role in Along Came Polly. I knew he was a serious actor, I knew he had a lot of talent, but unlike many of the powerhouses we see on the Oscar stage, he took a small comedic role in a rom-com and became the single best thing about the movie. It's great to highlight his dramatic talents, but what made him great was his range.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was an amazing actor. I think it's safe to say he didn't get his first acting role coz of his looks...his talent was not something learned, like great artists and singers, it was a gift from God he was born with. Few of us are that fortunate.
This guy really was a great actor, so glad Mission Impossible made this list, he saved that movie. Period. Also glad that he got to play Truman Capote, I miss him already.
I really enjoyed him in Mission Impossible 3... Because I found him genuinely intimidating. He wasn't in good shape, he didn't look capable of fighting... But he just seemed like a guy you wouldn't mess with, purely due to his intellect.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was an amazing actor. I think it's safe to say he didn't get his first acting role coz of his looks...his talent was not something learned, like great artists and singers, it was a gift from God he was born with. Few of us are that fortunate.

This guy really was a great actor, so glad Mission Impossible made this list, he saved that movie. Period. Also glad that he got to play Truman Capote, I miss him already.
He saved a LOT of movies, one of which I believe was Doubt. Found that entire film and acting overrated except for Hoffman's.
His performances never let me down. He was rare.

I really enjoyed him in Mission Impossible 3... Because I found him genuinely intimidating. He wasn't in good shape, he didn't look capable of fighting... But he just seemed like a guy you wouldn't mess with, purely due to his intellect.

Just a shame that this man has left us. Such an amazing actor and man, I wish he still was still with us. But, just as he said in the film "The Savages", "Because People Die! Death is gaseous and gruesome and it's full of shit and piss and rotten stink." It's terrible, he will be missed.
