Never played this game as i reckon id be terrible at it, but i just love watching you play it and your editing style is really fluid and easy to watch!
Galactic Myst you should get into the total war series before this game. The most beginner friendly total war in my opinion is Empire total war so I definitely recommend that. I made the mistake of starting with medieval 2 though.
I hear that. Total War is all on sale on Steam right now, but even with the DLCs it's still £40 for full games and their DLCs. Was thinking of getting Rome II but don't want to spend that money and find out it's different to play than watch.
I miss being able to get all my favorite generals like in the normal RTK games but the fact you can do stuff like this is a huge point in the game's favor.
At 27:50 you mention you saw the comment about legendary status for heroes. It was 100% correct and in-game you can find references to that in their tutorial videos. The reason that guy didn't have over 100 and still had legendary status was items put him over 100. He gained it, and then he lost the items and retained his legendary status since they can't lose it.
I actually started watching this before I saw him play League and I thought he was too different youtubers. Then I looked at his channel and was like: "Wait!.....Noooooo shiiiiiit!!!"
This is the best total war let’s play! It’s so detailed, good quality content! Keep it up! I start watching your other videos like rust and LOL (not a fan of LOL, But you made it interesting!) , it is amazing! I never commented in any TH-cam video, started to comment after watching your videos just to tell how great you are! *Something about your voice, so chill.*
This is so riveting! I like the 30min episode style because you really feel like you get to engage in a long progressing story rather than just 10min "greatest clips" or minimal changes
Great episode, super entertaining. Your format is perfect for this. Also make sure to read up on the three Horse Pastures. They lower cavalry upkeep by A LOT and you are close to them.
For the second time, i don't play this game, but really enjoy your videos. your editing and sense of humor are great! The league vids are great too, keep it up man!
Balance of power shift from what I've seen is increased by destroying the opponent's armies or capturing towns whether it is theirs or not. The AI in this game will usually give you almost everything they own if they are on the verge of destruction or you've killed most of their armies. Hope this helps.
Loved your reaction to the coalition request by Ye. I had the same vibe in my Cao Cao game when Yuan Shao allied with me. He wouldn't let anyone else join the "Best Bros 4 Life Club". Then he let Zheng Jiao join.... I fully expect our coalition to implode any day now as a ho has entered into the equation.
I really enjoy watching you play this game you should do more like everyday cause it's really interesting and the way you explain things make it more entertaining. So keep it up :)
Love watching your Total War videos! Since the game closely follows the novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms instead of the Records of the Three Kingdoms, here are some interesting trivia. I haven't played this game myself but according to the novel, Liu Bei's generals and strategists should be the strongest in the game. Guan Yu is probably the most well rounded character in the story. Zhang Fei and Guan Yu are the few that can match Lu Bu in combat. Although he is very strong, but he is very calculating and calm at the same time. Many Chinese communities around the world revere Guan Yu as a symbol of justice and loyalty, you can see shrines/altars dedicated to him at many places in Chinese communities. Very OP. Zhang Fei although as strong as Guan Yu, he is much more simple minded. But he was loyal to Liu Bei till the end. His shout -100 morale move is a reference to a scene (I forgot which war) in Romance of the Three Kingdoms, where he had to cover for his retreating allies. When their enemies, Cao Cao's army arrived at the other end of the bridge, he shouted something like "WHO DARES TO DUEL ME?" and that scared Cao Cao's army shitless. In chinese culture, you can sometimes see him portrayed as a 'door god' to ward off bad luck and stuff. Not only that, the famous Kong Ming (birth name: Zhuge Liang) is also part of Liu Bei's faction. Liu Bei had to visit his hay shack THREE TIMES to recruit him. He is pretty much the smartest guy in the era. Brilliant strategist and tactician, great politician, amazing writer, good at inventing things as well. But sadly, other than a select few individuals who truly put Liu Bei's end goal before everything, he is surrounded by IDIOTS. Some of his achievements in the novel are the Empty City Strategy, Borrowing Arrows from Cao Cao with straw boats, predicting the Eastern Wind (literal RNGesus), etc. I won't go into detail but they are pretty interesting. He also gets Zhao Yun, many characters in video games are inspired by him. Pretty much the same. Loyal, professional, strong, etc. In the story he fought off an entire retinue while holding onto Liu Bei's infant son and actually survived and safely delivered the child back to Liu Bei. For Liu Bei, he is pretty much a dreamer. Sure he was good with words and persuaded a lot of people, but he isn't really known for his military exploits and strategies. He was portrayed as a ideal leader of a faction, compassionate and kind. But he was horrible at war. Nearly fucked up a lot of stuff in the story. His aim in the story was to restore the glory of the Han Empire, declaring himself Emperor because he was royalty. After Zhao Yun delivered his son back to him, without hesitation he dropped the baby onto the ground, blaming his infant son for nearly making him lose a great general... And that son... After Liu Bei passed away, the son who was dropped on his head became the faction leader. After Kong Ming passed away, this little idiot immediately surrendered to Cao Cao without a fight, completely disregarding Kong Ming's efforts of realizing Liu Bei's dream. And if you read the novel or the records, you will know that Cao Cao has a particular kink of conquering other people's wife. He kinda lusted for Zhou Yu and Liu Bei's wife if I recall correctly.
I’d think raising an army with the original 10k should be good enough because of the chance of Zheng Jiang staying in Hedong. Btw I love this run I started watching your league videos and didn’t really know this game before, great content keep it up
Absolutely loving this series so far! I think a heroic defense at Hedong would be amazing, and you should 100% try it! But you could also just create a save and try both. Shhhh, we won't say anything :P
I find it funny that Liu Bei just died at my current playthrough Around turn 80 he had only one province and he literally paid me for him to become my vassal
Playing as Zheng Jiang is op with the replenishment reforms because you can build bandit camps that give 4-10% replenishment that can stack. They take a lot of your income away so its best to build them in food commandaries. I had a campaign where it took one turn for me to fully replenish an almost destroyed army with a replenishment of around 60%. Very nice not having to worry about my armies being half health.
I think that the Gongsun Zan accepted your deal because you smashed his two armies. They attacked because you and your allies were weaker than him and his allies. You got stronger and now they are scared.
I really like watching you play this! The longer episodes are better, in my opinion. Largely because we can really get a feel for how the game plays rather than just a short turn summary every turn that would probably happen in a 10-15 minute episode.
u gotta keep going further, build a massive army and go for the biggest mission conquering the lands and go as far across the map you can just let everyone chase you i think that would be a sick series
I would stay. And raise more army and set up ambushes there's are alot of trees in the area.!! Keep up the good work I love your playthrough!! Ps what happen to the baby!! Haha?!?!?
Really like your in depth descriptions of what you're doing(and why) on the campaign map and in battles themselves. Got a great style for videos going through a campaign like this. Especially love your admiration for Lu Bu's exceptional prowess as he's always been my favourite character. Would definitely like to see you upload more as I really enjoy this series, but not daily if it'd mean going down to 10-15 min videos. TW campaigns are a slow process and I think you need good long 20+ min segments to showcase a good amount of progression. So I'd say just try to stick to uploading good length vids every few days as you have been, preferably sooner but that's just because I like them, know you have a life outside of this so can't upload super fast all the time. Also would like to hear a bit more emotional investment in your voice around what's happening like when you win an epic battle but that might just not be who you are, so that's okay too.
FYI, you pay gold to complete buildings instantly, just click the gold coin icon under the turn counter. It doesn't cost too much, especially for lower tier buildings. Somewhere between 450-750 per turn of construction you skip, depending on the building. So you could very easily get a Small City if those other armies get close.
In my playthrough with zheng jiang I had like 8 to 10 tributaries and I put her unique building in every city which gives extra money from tribute. My total income from tribute alone was 70,000 per turn.
What an episode! Please continue, this current campaign is ramping up! I think you need to invest a lot in making and suppling an other army. Having your main army move around a lot is inefficient. You now have alot of income so it should be fine to slowly build up your main cities while making moves to deflect w/e enemy comes. Lu Bu x Zeng Jiang OTP :D
Damn im freakin loving these videos, Im getting this game after watching all this! Im kinda torn, i wanna see the heroic stand but i also would wanna play it safe and move the emperor xD
Also, FYI you only need to get fire damage to 50% and then it'll slowly build up to 100% on its own, once it hits 100% then the tower/structure begins to take damage
Yes, a unit at 100 in a stat becomes legendary. This includes stats gained from equipment and other means. If that character reached 100 at some point, but lost their items at some point from an AI, they'll still show the legendary status regardless of their now lower than 100 stats. Otherwise Unique characters and certain few historical characters will always be legendary as well. Hope that helps.
Definitely would like to see a Liu Bei play through. Also don't have much total wars experience, but I feel as though it would be safer to move your capital to Chang An
I am going to blow your mind trm.
Hit the gold coin below the building portrait.
You can upgrade Hedong to a city with a garrison in one turn.

When he says Lu Bu sucks in duels XD
No, don't listen to Taco Blude. Empire is one of the worst in the franchise! Start with Shogun 2 imo and or Rome 2
Im not the best, but i love the game so much!
Heroic defense at Hedong for sure. I wanna see Lu Bu clap the enemy's cheeks in an open field
Mate Lu Bu is a god
Don’t know how but this has quickly become my favourite thing to watch on TH-cam. I absolutely love this
I miss being able to get all my favorite generals like in the normal RTK games but the fact you can do stuff like this is a huge point in the game's favor.
Watching a strategy game for me is boring, but the way you explaining it is amazing. Short and detail, keep it up!
It's 50% RPG so it makes it even better!
Content is high quality as always

Good thing I play League of Legends but also alot of Total War, so this channel became my favourite gaming channel in just 2 months
I actually started watching this before I saw him play League and I thought he was too different youtubers. Then I looked at his channel and was like: "Wait!.....Noooooo shiiiiiit!!!"

Heroic defence, it takes 15 seasons to finish the moving meaning "it might" (I don't know) take 15 turns to move them
