@@manolios Hard disagree. Early access is just the steam store way of saying not "complete", there is no difference between a game getting updates in or out of early access besides how it is marketed. It shouldn't be concerning at all to have a game stay in early access whilst getting updates, it should be concerning if it's released from early access without being as feature complete as advertised, or if we go 6+ months without an update. Besides that, updates to games are awesome, games should always be able to evolve over time to improve and innovate on the original idea, which is what gaming is about, otherwise things would be very boring getting 15 sequels with barely any content improvements. Hence... this is why "Manor Lords" basically simulate being a "Baron" or "Baroness" Lowest Lords, however as you grow and take over the entire region on the map, this would be as powerful as what an Earl or Count would control. If it were a border region with another country then the title instead of Earl or Count would be that of Margrave, Landgraves, or Marquesses. A Duke or Dutchess would control a vast number of Regions. But this game simulates well what a Baron would control.
Yeah... Though he said it's not a grand strategy, I still hope that taking over the entire map will call for the necessity to expand the map, and as a result to upgrade the player's rank from baron to count, then duke, king etc. with that being connected to larger economical opportunities, cooler buildings and structures like stone castles and cities like Carcassonne etc. etc.
The battles in manor lord already look better than totalwar battles. The fact you can go backward while still facing the ennemy, use multiple stances that change unit behavior and dont have to wait for a 10s cooldown to launch another arrow is already an innovation...

Super excited about the game and what it tries to be. However, it would be fun to have a mode something akin to age of empires, focused a bit more on battles and conquest. Not any time soon! But lets say, the game is finished to the point he (and maybe a future team) envisioned and feels deep and varied enough to have a lot of replayability on its own. But more modes like that would honestly turn the game from amazing to timeless.

I personally support youtubers getting access to games before the rest of us. I feel like it gives me time to see gameplay before I decide whether to buy it or not. Not sure why anyone would be against this.
I love this game from what I see, I’m waiting to see what the roadmap looks like. If castle building is included 100% guaranteed , and if additional maps are included with their regions I’m all in. Micro city building with macro kingdom or faction management against AI would be insanely attractive.
Been watching a lot of reviews on Manor Lords as the trepidation is right up there. Someone posted a video on a really concerning bug though, his region got overrun and destroyed. He could no longer build there or use the army that was remaining. Hopefully, this will have been passed along to Slavic if it is widespread so it can be fixed prior to release.
Tell the dev to have a night setup where you have to assign town folks as sentries in order to catch bandits at night ir to fight off wolves or even find thieves stealing stuff if your population is low or even as a fire watch.
My son is 12 and a longtime Minecraft creative mode builder. He had gotten to the point of building whole cities with all of the functioning parts, such as stores, factories that made things for stores, food production etc but he had to role play the actual functioning of the city. So yes, this will be his replacement game. He watches tons of videos and has no interest in combat. He wants to build and learn economy and chains of function within a middle ages society. So yes, I agree with the Slavic Magic, this is a city builder at its core and my son demonstrates this.
Can't wait to mod beyond his wishes. Sorry, developer, but your wishes are noted, and denied. Larger maps, more retinues, more battles, I forsee it like 2 weeks in
Having played Farthest Frontier, I want to play this game so baaad. Also a big fan of AoE and TW, should be awesome. I've really wanted a sorta new RTS city builder type game. Been following this development for quite a while too, the people overhyping it are very infuriating.
I totally understand them keeping the scope relatively small in it's first release as the Dev stated, but I think they'd be missing a HUGE opportunity if they didn't expand on that in the future. If not with official releases, then with mods. This style of hybrid game (Between City Builder and Total War vibe of battlefield management) is what I've been waiting for for years. I just hope it reaches it's full potential in the future. Fingers crossed.
Those only make sense if they can be used by defenders and actually attacked by attackers. Which means that defenders need to gain the ability to climb the walls and defend from the battlements, and attackers need siege equipment to use against fortifications - which means at least the need of another building to manufacture the siege equipment, as well as several new models of siege engines, which need to be animated. And also need attack and damage values. Which needs balancing. In short: This opens a whole new can of worms. You could just as well demand that cavalry makes it into the game.
Great video! So looking forward to playing this! I totally get that content creators get early copies, they can show us the game and stop companies from ripping us off. You dont want spoilers? You dont want to see too mucb of the game before is out? Easy, dont watch any videos! Im somewhere in the middle, I watch some reviews from different people but I try not to watch too many and I will stop watching any during the last week. What a game! Trully excited for this.
This should show to TotalWar how many people are craving for a proper TotalWar style game. Also, this can be a huge opportunity for Slavic Magic or HoodedHorse to start a healthy competition. 🤔
has the dev addressed moding potential ? or potential for MP modes? ps. personally? bad feedback is just as valuable, but you gotta identify it, then take it as face value.
I think we all just want TW to go away at this point so someone else can make Historical Grand Strategy. All they care about is Games Workshop now anyways, which has gone woke sadly.
People need to temper expectations. This isnt full release. Its a very small team. I think many people will enjoy the game but not the wait between fixes, content etc. Who knows hopefully they may be able to bring some people on board to help Greg roll things out a little quicker. Personally I'd rather wait and have stable experience than rush and it become a cluster (ryhmes with truck)
its part of the realism, big battle were rare, skirmishes were most of the fighting.war is expensive and if you lose big pitch battle. Who is gonna work the fields?
we do not need a total war killer...... Total war is dead anyways We just need your game , as your idea, vision and originality. The thing is i'm afraid that the Early Access period, will take longer than expected....(i fear more than six months), and those things never end well when the community keeps asking, becomes toxic, countless hours are spent on tests and path changes, everyone is losing momentum and steam, and the game finally gets released at "Mixed" reviews . Not to mention the monstrosity of a PC that would require and be optimized for a game to run smoothly on today's PCs
@@thehaberdash i understand that he is solo, and has a dream, but i really hope does not fall victim to EA hells of many games of the kind. Also the game advertises 2 million wishlists or something, soooo an increase in personnel and developers is required. I have seen stuff over my ages of gaming , and rarely those EA conclude in a success. I can count in my palm the best of them, while my wishlist has almost 350!!!!
The ultimate Total War killer was the update on Shogun 2. I can't play the game anymore. I have tried everything. All mods deinstalled, game deinstalled and downloaded again. It does not work anymore. And in the comments of the update, I've read hundreds of comments with the same problem. All that because they could not monitore the chat. Total war is dead for me. I won't buy anything of it ever again.
Whats the max number of units you can field? The size is fine because the map is small to begin with. Total war games on the otherhand is an empire builder so smallish armies are kinda turn off.
so far i've seen people gather up to 1000 peasants. the great thing is that you control the unit sizes and of course they draw from your peasant pool. Every peasant being on the battlefield means there's one less peasant on the farming field, every soldier you lose WILL hurt your economy and you will have to regrow your population. Smaller battles make sense in this case, you don't need 120 men with bows, 20 well placed men can do more damage while a heavy battle line takes the charge ect. after 24 years of the tw formula, i find this refreshing the least.
Yep. when it comes to actual skirmishes and wars, I prefer Kenshi. Even though that game's graphics are crap. Gonna play manor lords as a city builder first then defenses second.
Manor lords will never be about managing an empire, but a plot of land. Sure you have battles, and it's great that they feel better than TW ones, but the scope will always be different. "Total War killer" is a product of the hype train term. Having said that, it doesn't mean that some modder somehow makes a higher abstraction of the game and makes it feel closer to a grand scale game. But that is wishful thinking. What we have now is the Banished of the 2020s, and I'm here to enjoy all the revolutionary perks it brings.
It depends on whether people like the city building aspect of things, if you want hundreds of battles and magic then nothing will compete with TW: Warhammer which is by far the most popular. They do overlap in certain aspects but for my needs I actually consider Bannerlord 2 to be closer to TW: Warhammer than Manor Lords will ever be due to quick battles and strategy, it´s all in the eyes of the individual and how they approach a game. I am not much into the city building aspect of things except for City Skylines mainly due to the complex road building and traffic logistics, might give this a shot though.
@@AurioDK I loved TW series in the past but they turned an almost perfect battle simulation potential into fast paced, APM centered, UI litered mass. I like magic in warhammer and even it could be a realistic thing in the universe but instead they choosed self erecting towers and domination battles. Those thing even contradict with fantasy lore. I think future TW games will need more city building elements as the game started repeating itself over and over.
@@Arhatu That´s due to Total War: Warhammer being everything in one, if you want a less magical influenced TW: WH then there are mods that do just that. So, for the sake of TW, yes, you are right. They will need to implement new mechanics, preferably some major ones. City building is just so time consuming that it would take away from the eternal battles which I love, light city building maybe. There are various paths they can take, however Creative Assembly hasn´t been that creative "lately". Creative assembly could do a combo of Age of Empires/Total War f.ex. with village building, just one example.
Hey, hope you're doing great :) Little question, if you don't mind: will be there possibility to paint warriors' shields/surcoat to banner colors? In close range skirmish it's really hard to understand who is who, and colors were invented exactly for such purpose. Thanks for awesome game :)
Hope the developer is not too narrow minded and changes his mind on some of these aspects. I would like to participate in the battles like in Bannerlord as example. It already includes combat, let me swing my sword around a bit.
I actually think it is kind of total war is niche asff this is far more playable instead of being the most unintuitive and hard to understand game you've ever played I could not look at any text and figure this game out it's called accessibility and low bar of entry instead of needing manuals to play guarantee half or more than half of total war games are never finished or reach any resoloution

If not with official releases, then with mods. This style of hybrid game (Between City Builder and Total War vibe of battlefield management) is what I've been waiting for for years. I just hope it reaches it's full potential in the future. Fingers crossed.
Agreed mods will definitely be amazing for this game and they should expand the team if possible
We need fortifications, castle walls, gatehouses, towers, the whole shebang.
they have some of those already
Those only make sense if they can be used by defenders and actually attacked by attackers. Which means that defenders need to gain the ability to climb the walls and defend from the battlements, and attackers need siege equipment to use against fortifications - which means at least the need of another building to manufacture the siege equipment, as well as several new models of siege engines, which need to be animated. And also need attack and damage values. Which needs balancing.
In short: This opens a whole new can of worms.
You could just as well demand that cavalry makes it into the game.
Doesnt matter if its total war killer or not. What's important is we will play this game more than total war.
lmao facts
Great video! So looking forward to playing this! I totally get that content creators get early copies, they can show us the game and stop companies from ripping us off. You dont want spoilers? You dont want to see too mucb of the game before is out? Easy, dont watch any videos! Im somewhere in the middle, I watch some reviews from different people but I try not to watch too many and I will stop watching any during the last week. What a game! Trully excited for this.
Thank you man I appreciate it, it's a ton of fun.
This should show to TotalWar how many people are craving for a proper TotalWar style game. Also, this can be a huge opportunity for Slavic Magic or HoodedHorse to start a healthy competition. 🤔
yeah it really could
has the dev addressed moding potential ? or potential for MP modes? ps. personally? bad feedback is just as valuable, but you gotta identify it, then take it as face value.
there will be modding after 1.0
I HATE City Builders games More Than i Hate Baseball and Tennis Games 😂😂😂😂😂😂
why
Appreciate you doing this over view of the update! Looking forward to getting Manor Lords when the early access comes out.
Thank you!
Will this game be compatible with modding, because I have a feeling the modders will go crazy with this game
Yeah they said modding will come i think after 1.0
I think we all just want TW to go away at this point so someone else can make Historical Grand Strategy. All they care about is Games Workshop now anyways, which has gone woke sadly.
ye
why no blood in battle..GG
there is?
Total war Warhammer already killed historical Total War games. So this is a non-issue
lmao
🤔 so its seem dev (he) already started making Manor lord 2. Nice 👏🏻
what
People need to temper expectations. This isnt full release. Its a very small team. I think many people will enjoy the game but not the wait between fixes, content etc. Who knows hopefully they may be able to bring some people on board to help Greg roll things out a little quicker. Personally I'd rather wait and have stable experience than rush and it become a cluster (ryhmes with truck)
this is facts
its part of the realism, big battle were rare, skirmishes were most of the fighting.war is expensive and if you lose big pitch battle. Who is gonna work the fields?
what realistic doesnt mean is fun to play.
@@DMM_Fan If people want big battles. They can play total war or something else..
FAAACK THAT TOTAL WAR ALL THE WAY
@@DMM_Fan last great total war game was shogun now it's all shitty
@@ScaffoldReal nailed it
we do not need a total war killer...... Total war is dead anyways
We just need your game , as your idea, vision and originality.
The thing is i'm afraid that the Early Access period, will take longer than expected....(i fear more than six months),
and those things never end well when the community keeps asking, becomes toxic, countless hours are spent on tests and path changes, everyone is losing momentum and steam,
and the game finally gets released at "Mixed" reviews . Not to mention the monstrosity of a PC that would require and be optimized for a game to run smoothly on today's PCs
Gave ya the thumbs up. Just wanna say since this is a single guy working on it we should all know from the onset, this will be a long process
Battle Brothers were also in early access for a long time, and they have very positive reviews. lets hope for best
@@jarlnils435 of course total war is dead.
1000
try Songs of Syx it's an underrated gem
definitely this
Yep. when it comes to actual skirmishes and wars, I prefer Kenshi. Even though that game's graphics are crap. Gonna play manor lords as a city builder first then defenses second.
Can't wait!
WE will decide if its a Total War Killer, not him!
fair
Manor lords will never be about managing an empire, but a plot of land. Sure you have battles, and it's great that they feel better than TW ones, but the scope will always be different. "Total War killer" is a product of the hype train term.
Having said that, it doesn't mean that some modder somehow makes a higher abstraction of the game and makes it feel closer to a grand scale game. But that is wishful thinking. What we have now is the Banished of the 2020s, and I'm here to enjoy all the revolutionary perks it brings.
yeah
console release next year? hoping Microsoft backing gives more developers so we don't got wait to long
with the amount of strategy games i've seen popping out on the ps store, i wouldn't be surprised, but we'll see.
fr hope so i think it should run on the steam deck
I think it is a Total War competitor , problem is Tatal War lacks the city building aspects of total war.
It's literally not though. This is a city-builder with battles. That's like saying Farthest Frontier is a competitor to Stellaris.
@@mdc123-v2v Both of them will evolve into same thing. Manor lords leads the direction.
We need Ww2 add on to ml
bruh what
Hey, hope you're doing great :)
Little question, if you don't mind: will be there possibility to paint warriors' shields/surcoat to banner colors? In close range skirmish it's really hard to understand who is who, and colors were invented exactly for such purpose. Thanks for awesome game :)
This is already in to the game. If you follow Manor Lords content you can find all the info you need.
@@serafima2 Hm, looks like I did miss that. Great then, thanks :)
thank you! Yeah you can change the colors and banners etc.
Why dont they add a custom battles mode where you j7st fight that would be great
because it is a city builder game
they might in the future
Hope the developer is not too narrow minded and changes his mind on some of these aspects. I would like to participate in the battles like in Bannerlord as example. It already includes combat, let me swing my sword around a bit.
ye
It’s not a total war killer, it’s a total war atomizer.
I actually think it is kind of total war is niche asff this is far more playable instead of being the most unintuitive and hard to understand game you've ever played I could not look at any text and figure this game out it's called accessibility and low bar of entry instead of needing manuals to play guarantee half or more than half of total war games are never finished or reach any resoloution
ye
Is there cavalry?
