There is another way to get a free Anaconda. You do need some rep grind for it though. Basically when you have obtained a high enough rank with the feds and have access to the sol system, go to Earth and land in the South American Amazons. Here you should be able to find yourself an Anaconda or two! As a side note you will also be able to find Vipers, Cobras and Pythons in the Amazon rainforests all for free!
I know Obsidian, this is how I got my anaconda, which is now worth over 700million 😄 so I encourage everyone to do this! Just wake up, jump in, line up your ship and go about your day, checking in every hour or so.

Yamiks, I've been following you for awhile, and I was SO excited to see this video only ONE DAY OLD that offered the free Anaconda for visiting Hutton Orbital! I just spent the last 90 minutes traveling there, and happened to have company coming over so I eagerly plugged in my HDMI cable and put my game on the large flatscreen so everyone could see me land! A minor hiccup, all landing pads were occupied so for about 5 mins my docking request was denied. After diverting the attention of my party for a minute,while surreptitiously trying to dock in the background, I was finally successful. THANK YOU FOR THE FREE ANACONDA!! My anticipation was only mitigated by the fact it had no mods. Or frame. But thank you! This is only my third comment on TH-cam EVER so it made a real impression.
So that's why everyone except me is flying an Anaconda in distant worlds expidition. Gotta return to the bubble now and get my first Anaconda. Yeeeeeeee!

I think that's dependent on the background simulation, not permanent discounts, so it sounds like you got lucky! When I got mine, all they had were E-rated modules.

Hutton Orbital has no ship yard. That means you have to grab your Anaconda from the Commodities market, but you'll need a ship with a big enough cargo hold.

Hutton orbital is about 7 million light seconds from alpha centuri's sun or about 0.21 light years. It takes about 90 minutes in super cruise to get there. There are two rare resources there but first you have to get your "Free anacoda". No matter what it is definitely worth the pilgrimage.
Ok for those newbies that think they can get a free Anaconda, sorry, yep its a joke meant to haze new players. You'd have to ask yourself, how would you even outfit it anyway? Even before we talk about engineering you'd need upwards of 100m credits anyway to change the stock FSD, powerplant, distributor etc. Move on, nothing is easy in Elite.
I'm confused. I get that this is a community in joke, and only new players would fall for it, but as a new player one of the first places i went to was hutton (long before i heard of the python prank), and i had no problem getting there or back. I feel like i'm missing something, are people supposed to run out of fuel on the way there or something?
The free Anaconda has the option in the livery section for a unique Hutton Orbital paint scheme too. To access it you must be at Hutton Orbital. Not many Commanders realise this. I love it its lustrusly blue with Hutton Orbitals pottery industry advertised tastefully in the form of an abstract mug shaped series of swooshes in silver chrome. Very nice. You can buy this paint scheme for most of the ships in the game.

Every player still needs to go to Hutton just so you can say you did it.... kinda like being indoctrinated into a club. The lore behind it is interesting also... as I understand it, early humanity targeted the planet thinking it was earth like only to find it was uninhabitable... so early explorers trekking out to Hutton for a “free” Anaconda get a taste of the vast distance of space and the disappointment early explorers in the history of Elite Universe experienced.... I envision “Samuel L. Jackson on an early FTL ... slow boat to Eden in Alpha Centauri ... and when he gets there ...”Mutha ... F_ _ _ _r!!” I am a new player but have logged a to. If hours in this game just immersed in the experience... It still fascinates the hell out of me... and is like living in space... (well with out legs) that said it ain’t for everyone. Hutton orbital is about 7 million light seconds from alpha centuri's sun or about 0.21 light years. It takes about 90 minutes in super cruise to get there. There are two rare resources there but first you have to get your "Free anacoda". No matter what it is definitely worth the pilgrimage.

Ok for those newbies that think they can get a free Anaconda, sorry, yep its a joke meant to haze new players. You'd have to ask yourself, how would you even outfit it anyway? Even before we talk about engineering you'd need upwards of 100m credits anyway to change the stock FSD, powerplant, distributor etc. Move on, nothing is easy in Elite.

I get that this is a community in joke, and only new players would fall for it, but as a new player one of the first places i went to was hutton (long before i heard of the python prank), and i had no problem getting there or back. I feel like i'm missing something, are people supposed to run out of fuel on the way there or something?

The free Anaconda has the option in the livery section for a unique Hutton Orbital paint scheme too. To access it you must be at Hutton Orbital. Not many Commanders realise this. I love it its lustrusly blue with Hutton Orbitals pottery industry advertised tastefully in the form of an abstract mug shaped series of swooshes in silver chrome. Very nice. You can buy this paint scheme for most of the ships in the game.

Every player still needs to go to Hutton just so you can say you did it.... kinda like being indoctrinated into a club. The lore behind it is interesting also... as I understand it, early humanity targeted the planet thinking it was earth like only to find it was uninhabitable... so early explorers trekking out to Hutton for a “free” Anaconda get a taste of the vast distance of space and the disappointment early explorers in the history of Elite Universe experienced.... I envision “Samuel L. Jackson on an early FTL ... slow boat to Eden in Alpha Centauri ... and when he gets there ...”Mutha ... F_ _ _ _r!!” I am a new player but have logged a to. If hours in this game just immersed in the experience... It still fascinates the hell out of me... and is like living in space... (well with out legs) that said it ain’t for everyone. And if I need my space legs ... I can play Halo or Mass Effect to scratch that itch but I find myself back in space in no time. Amazing game in my opinion... just wished I discovered it sooner.
