- Hutton Orbital, in the Alpha Centauri system, is 0.22 ly from the nearest drop out point, making it quite the pilgrimage to travel to in low-wake. Make sure you have the time, the fuel, and a medium sized ship or smaller before starting the trek.

This video gave me the focus and anger to apply my void opal faming to buy an Anaconda... since the only thing you get at the end of this trip is a ty and a ton of mugs... @sepulcher Geist ty for this entry into the game and the motivation to go buy my own Anaconda and great fake cut scene. Probably more like "Engage supercruise assist and do something else for a few hours", like anyone is going to interdict you in the middle of nowhere.
I'd do the trip if I could place the mug in my cockpit, they should add certain cosmetics for milestones like if you reach triple elite, visit the center, visit colonia, unlock all guardian technology etc.

I made the trip to Hotton Orbital on my second day playing this game...because I accepted a courier mission worth 1.Mil.
I was like "Sweet! easy money"...and then after 10 minutes of traveling to hutton Orbital I was like "Why is this taking so long?"

I am travelling to there in my cobra mk3 too lol. Basicly i accepted a mission for 800.000 and didnt check the distance. I am 0.17ly of 0.23ly
Made the mistake of doing that once with a different station. Took over a bloody hour to reach it and that wasn't hutton orbital. After that I made sure to check the distance of stations. Since I don't care if its worth ten million its not worth it.

i litteraly went to hutton orbital because i thought i would get a free conda, "years of academy training wasted"
using the assist to hutton orbital is mainly so you get pulled out at station, if you fall asleep during the trip
That's what I did lol. I set off then had a nap. I set the controller near my head so when it vibrated when I got pulled out of super cruise so I woke up.
Ive always removes the assist, and i do a lot of missions to khazakstein dock to stack money. So many times hav i woken up in the middle of fuckin no where lol but its good sleep tho
I'm taking my dog out for a walk in the meantime...
I use assist all the time. I can fall asleep on a run less than 5000 ls.

When I go to Hutton, I turn off all unneeded modules to save fuel. First time I made the trip was when I was still a novice to the game. I saw the really nice shiny payout for a cargo haul, and never bothered to look at the distance!
Guess that's better than falling for the "Free Anaconda"! LOL! (The time stamps also gave it away!)

It’s a bit buggy as to when you get the anaconda. Seems to fire upon a reload if your still in instance if it didn’t fire the first time

I had a "demanding" first-class passenger once who decided at literally the last minute that she wanted to go to Hutton - right when I was about to request docking at the station I signed on to take her to. I'd never been to Alpha Centauri and thought it would be a nice little detour.

I've been there on fuel rat business. Someone ran out of fuel about 75% of the way. So that was an interesting rescue. I made a lucky guess and found myself 5kls from him with 40 seconds left. Another satisfied client! :) Figured I'd just go the rest of the way when that happened. Didn't know about the mugs...and I'm not going back unless someone else gets stuck there.
For those who don't know - you can turn off auto throttle during flight assist. Check the "ship" tab at your right screen.
If u look at the time at which when he launched in his python from Hutton and the time of which he was in his anaconda its 9 hours difference

I'm on my way there now. Only been playing 4 days and I saw a mission for 3.5 mil credits. When I got to Alpha Centauri I misread it as .22ls and was wondering why it was not dropping lol. Anyway for a newb it seems like a nice payment
Same thing just happened to me lol. I didn't realize it wasn't light seconds and I was about to put in a support ticket because it didn't appear I was getting closer and then I realized my mistake. I still have 20 minutes left until I get there lol
The only way to make money in this game currently now since everything is exploited now is go to hickum and run courier ( stacked by 16) and run them to next star over and Rinse and repeat..it's literally the fastest way to make money and and it's only about a million an hour mabye more since TH-camrs have exploited grind type stuff and devs nerfed those so players have to slowly grind now..it's really pathetic
The only way to escalate this prank further, is to have a Ganker in an
Anaconda that ambushes players with the ship name and player name of
"Free Anaconda" when they arrive at Hutton Obital.. ;)

I'm fairly new to ED and I restarted my game about 6 times before I figured out how things work. I have been watching your videos for a couple weeks now and have picked up a lot of useful information and some real good laughs too. I made the run out to Hutton Orbital on a trade or data mission a couple months ago, flying a Type 6. Didn't know anything about the "For the Mug" tourist destination until I watched this video. I am currently half way there in my Krait MkII to complete this achievement. Thank you for the tips and laughs. CMD Braydon Backhair.
During my trip to Hutton Orbital, I didn't know how the fuel bars worked. I was genuinely freaking out as I watched the top bar ticking down, thinking I'd be stranded out in deep space without any fuel. Then the top bar refilled and took a chunk from the bottom bar.
This trip also taught me how the fuel bar works LOL.
I almost made that journey once because of a joke someone else made before I knew it was that far. I zoned out for long enough to almost get there.
The joke was about that being the meeting place for once space legs is implemented, and my only thought was “cool I gotta check that place out!” I made it to a nearby planet.
That was one long ass cutscene that moved him from Nov 11 0:15 to Nov 13 9:07 haha

After I visited Hutton I bought a couple Hutton mugs off etsy, one for work, and one for my gaming desk where I play Elite. I was drinking tea from it while editting this video even.

I got a nice one from a third party company. TBH, Frontier missed a great money maker. Can we at least get a t-shirt? A nice " I went to Hutton Orbital and all I got was a lousy T-shirt" sort of thing. Mainly because Sepulcher Geist took all the mugs.

I've been to Hutton orbital a couple times, and I think you should get a mug bobblehead for your dash once you've been there, it's a pilgrimage, it should have a reward.
Happy I saved up for an anaconda and haven't seen any of these videos till now. I totally would have fell for this earlier on.

I literally had a mission and it sent me to Hutton orbital to deliver a package. At the time I didn't know how far it really was let's just say my friend was an a multi-crew session with me in my keelback and we flew halfway there until he got bored and decided to leave. I flew the other half by myself staring at a single point within the void waiting and waiting and I finally got here to deliver one package...

Leave the super Cruise module active and go into the ship menu and set the super Cruise assist throttle to manual.

Bro, not even kidding when I tell you I wanted to Hutton Orbital for the trip while I was floating around Sol to visit Alpha Centauri. You can configure the supercruise assist so it activates if you put your thrusters in the blue zone. That way is activated, but it doesnt lower your speed automatically. The problem is the constant beeping alert noise

Late to the party here, but as far as fuel tank size, as long as you scoop full, you can make it one one small tank (about 9% left after landing) in a sidey if you're careful.

I made it to Hutton, got my mug, then got interdicted by someone and died, losing my mug and putting me all the way back at the first station

Edit: Ok, so I did tell him about the "free 'conda", and to my surprise one night he started flying out there, but he only got 15 minutes in to the journey before he realized what was up :(

the trick to not zipping past stations and the like, for anyone who doesn't know, is to watch that arrival time - when that gets down to 0:07 (7 seconds), drop your throttle to 75% (you can set up a keybind for this, or manually lower the throttle to the middle of the blue part of the gauge). This guarantees the fastest arrival time, fancy charting through gravity wells notwithstanding.
In fact, all the supercruise assist does is set your throttle to 75% and automatically drop you when you get close enough (or put you into orbit if it's a planet)

I went to Hutton orbital with my type 6 and I actually got glitched inside an Anaconda! I sold my Type 6 and now I'm taking cargo missions left and right, thanks Sepulcher Geist!

I accidentally accepted a mission to Hutton and got about 10 minutes into the flight and gave up. I was noob then. I didn’t know it gave you a conda for doing it... is that a glitch?

I'm a noob, and had this destination as an early game mission. Big difference between Ls and Ly. Don't get these mixed up. I did disable the assist, so only an 50-60 min journey for a low paid mission. I did buy a mug.

If you go into your pilot options in the right panel, you can set super cruise assist to manual throttle. If you do this, it will let you accelerate to full throttle, but SCA will deactivate itself and force you to manually maintain course until you put it back into the blue zone.

I foolishly accepted a courier mission heading to Hutton and have been en route for around two hours. I had no idea what I was getting into.
You can set supercruise assist to manual throttle. Set speed 100%. Once your close and the slow down warning shows up throttle down to blue and let supercrusie assist take over. You'll hurl to your target but your supercruise assist will pull you out in time.
Super cruise assist is pretty cool I agree when traveling long distances you shouldn't really use it because of how slow you'll be going but if you're on road to riches it's a must for me cause it'll auto orbit for you which makes it super easy to probe planets and moons.
I found this out through experience. I turn it off for long distance trips but when I get close to my destination I turn it back on so it will guide me to where I need to go and stop me automatically.

I fucking went there to buy a few mugs and that special gin and on my way back actually a real player interdicted me and told to give me 5 mugs (i had 7) i said okay abandoned the mugs then that pig still destroyed me im still mad :D

I could be wrong, but I think the reason for the slower speed of the supercruise assist is actually fuel economy. My hypothesis is the supercruise assist burns less fuel than flying with supercruise assist off.
The fuel counter is literally there in front of your face in the cockpit at all times, no reason to cook your own janky hypothesis for something that's clearly displayed.
Sooo... now i feel silly :)) i just made the pilgrimage, land and took off 3 times, autodock assist on/off because i thought o was doing it wrong :))
I made the trip to Hutton Orbital. Didn't take that long, I don't regret it, even if I went there believing I was going to get a free Anaconda. I want to go there again to buy some mugs
Lol, I started a few days ago. I made a cargo mission to Hutton Orbital in a Cobra Mk3, the 1.6 million credits was a little too tempting even though the journey was longer than I expected. Only at 500c I realised I was in for the long haul, worth it though

2:03 you don't need to take it off, just move left out of the circle and then speed up, to return to it just re-enter the circle.
I just left my PS4 on overnight and plugged my controller in to the USB and disabled all sleep functions when I did this. Woke up the next morning and was like 15 minutes away.

I made a pilgrimage to hutton orbital, I wanted to check out sol ss a new player in a cobra, I realised sol was permit locked so I went to a system close by and looks at the missions, as a new player I saw data deliveries worth over 1 mil so I took it, thinking Mabe it wss better paying because the stars around sol are posh or something, and yeah, you can guess what happend here
I also learned a trick to going faster. Don’t directly aim at place you’re going to.
Aim at it and go full speed until it says 6-7 seconds left. Then put your throttle at the bottom of the blue zone. (Adjust throttle to keep it at 6 seconds for fastest flight without the “loop of shame”)
8:25 -- So, I did the Hutton Orbital "pilgrimage" early in the New Year, and when I did I also noticed that the Ship Integrity took the hardest hit I've ever seen; *SO* my question for you is two-fold.
(A) Regarding Supercruise Assist, will Ship Integrity be Higher or Lower at the reduced / "optimized" Supercruise Assist speeds? And
(B) Is Integrity affected more by Top Speed, or the Amount of Time? (Which will be linked, but entirely variable with one another)
And, as a follow-up for you -- why would anyone want to push the ship to Max Possible Speed when it has time to accelerate to 1,500 c or more, over the space of an hour? Because, even if I leave my throttle at 25%, it will eventually get to the same top speed. It merely accelerates more slowly. *AND FURTHERMORE,* the c speed is not affected as directly by the ships FSD as it is by proximity to nearby gravitating bodies. In other words, if I have 2 stars that are 100,000 light-seconds apart, I can expect to continue to accelerate until I pass the halfway mark between them, at which point the Game /FSD begins to wind it back, automagically, even without the Supercruise Assist.
I've left a comment on other videos you've released in which I identified that I'd rather have a Docking Computer than a Supercruise Assist of any kind; as long as a player has a throttle axis, the Assist isn't really very useful, but it is much much easier to run the engines too hot., As a consequence it is beneficial to throttle back well in advance of the destination.
RE: Fuel Needed for the Alpha Centuri HOT run; Look carefully at the HUD and notice that your fuel consumption rate is shown for regular thrusters and FSD, and that most ships don't burn more than 2.5 tonnes per hour in Supercruise. If your fuel tank is larger than a Sidewinder's, you should have more than enough fuel, yeah. (Python has a 32 tonne tank.)
I don't know if supercruise assist, or if speed itself affects your integrity at all. If such things do impact it, I doubt it's much. I believe time, heat, gravity and impacts effect it far more, but I haven't run any tests. Just seems that way to me. In general, although integrity matters toward your safety during dangerous tasks, it's 99% of the time something that doesn't matter and something you don't think about. Just throw a very small amount of credits to top off integrity every time you dock somewhere. I do it out of muscle memory. In short, I don't care if supercruise or flying at max speeds cost me more integrity or not. What's it gonna do, cost me 5 more credits? The benefit of going max speed is that faster acceleration, which cuts significant time off the trip, and therefore worth whatever integrity loss it incurs.
@@SepulcherGeist RE: "How much is it going to cost, 5 credits?" -- Depending on how big the ship is, and how much I've maxed out the Integrity Values of all fitted modules, it will drop as low as 10 credits per transit; but my Integrity on the Hutton Orbital run dropped to 37% or something, which was 65K or more to repair.
It's well worth investigating. I can't shake the suspicion that anything over "Blue Line" Acceleration causes the Integrity to drop faster. Removing Supercruise Assist makes that Blue Line change significantly.
Just normal wear and tear on the ship . just make sure you do advanced maintainace when you dock . costs peanuts to apply . I do it every time I dock plus the paint ( lol) Ditch Supercruise assist and docking computer modules . and learn to fly your ship ..You will benefit from being better at flying- Plus now you have extra 2 slots to fill with what you want
@@MrTimjm009 Tell you the truth, Tim! I got a Fleet Carrier and the first thing I started doing more of was docking without the Assist activated, and then, with Flight Assist off as well. It's good practice for planet side landings and Outposts, but the large ship orbital stations make flight assist a must, docking computer or not.
I have no problem flying the ships; I've learned three times, with different control setups. The limiting factors in my case are a crappy GFX card (so bad framerates anywhere near a Federal or Alliance orbital station, as well as asteroid HazRez) and no VR gear. If I had VR, I'd ditch the docking computers for the largest ships as well. I have no problem shooting the slots of the stations either; I have gotten more fines for doing it without first requesting permission than for anything else. :D
