    It would be nice to have a V-block crank in the game. The cylinders would still sit upright, but it would look more interesting than a normal inline or flat plane engine

    • @NyoomSpencerFox

      can kinda fake it by building the cranks off a pivot then setting it to have that V degree!

      i got a mod from the stormloader repo that adds a V crank and the appropriate angled piston block for it, not quite sure just how all the air and fuel and cooling hooks up to it, or if its even functional. in all fairness i havent tested it yet.

      I know I'm a year late but I built a boat with a V8 Engine Block from that mod, they have to be connected together to share any fuel or cooling or air using the T-Shaped Manifolds, It took me some trial and error to find that out but other than that they are quite useful!

    Every crankshaft adds resistance (in this game called torque). For the best result you want to use every side of the crankshaft, in this case 1 crankshaft with 4 cylinders around it.

    • @Adesterr
      @Adesterr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Thomas Radabaugh The Torque Sensor in the game has a logic node that is called "Torque". This value has nothing to do with torque. It is a black magic number, that the game uses to calculate mechanical resistance or inertia, im not really sure. You can't multiply rps * torque to get power in the game.
      Bad game design, missleading so many players.

    @MrNJersey - I was hoping this would give me some insight as to why I cannot seem to get any standalone engines working but alas I am more lost than ever now XD, I built my first car which was both a success and failure, it started, drove and handled okay on your v5 ECU Controller, however I wanted to have a better understanding how the modular engines worked, so I have been building similar test setups like you have done so in this video, but have only ever ran into issues when trying them, when using your v5 ECU, the starting key only turns on for a split-second and then shuts off whether the throttle is at 0% or 100% it doesn't matter, if I constantly spam the e/q keys on the starter key the engine will gradually rev up to about 3.8RPS, however immediately stops firing when I stop spamming the starter key and slowly loses RPS, upon looking at the ECU Controller it states: There is too much fuel, which I am presuming this is referring to the AFR and not the Fuel Tank level amount, after trying every configuration of the AFR going from 10, to 20 and everything in-between it always says There is too much fuel on the controller, is there something I am missing I have spent the last couple of days redoing the connections over and over again making sure I haven't missed a connection and rebuilt the engine from scratch 3 times now making sure I wasn't forgetting something, making sure coolant tank was fresh water and fuel tank was fuel, but still always have the same result. I also tried your v3(?) I believe being the Set RPS Controller with the exact same result however this Controller didnt say There is too much fuel, it just had the same result of not allowing the starter key to stay engaged thus not allowing the engine to start, it only gives it a very short jolt of life before shutting down, I have also tried using multiple setups of engine output, ranging from initially a Med Gen, 3 Gear boxes and a Prop, and slowly reduced that to nothing after trying the many days of diagnosing this issue, I searched all the steam community comments, quite a few people have had this issue with none ever having a comment saying how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, would love to play this game a lot more and make many creations, however being stuck on the most basic 4 cylinder engine for 3 days just diagnosing issues with no results becomes very boring very quickly.

      The easiest way I've found is that instead of running water to the engine, you "run the engine" to the cooling system.
      You basically use manifolds so that the "cooling system" is a pipe out, a pump into a rad another pump going out the rad, and an elbow back into the engine. That's it. The problem is the "water" doesn't move, not the radiators not being good enough.
      Also, don't run the engine at 60 RPS constantly, obviously.
